Now, in the past, there have been models of Link ported over to the game "Garry's Mod", but the most recent incarnation of Link, his Brawl Model, is very soon going to be available for use.
(A test by Garry's Mod developer "Luigimario" Posing Link)
(Link 's taken by suprise by a Hunter from the Half-Life games)
I for one am rather excited. The previous model available for Gmod, his Model from Twilight Princess, was actually kinda poor and had bad faceposing, but this one will be a lot better overall. They're adding lots of phong and rim highlights to the model to make it look a lot more next-gen looking.
Garry's Mod is a modification of the Source Engine, the Game engine that's used in all of the games made by Valve. (Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike, Left 4 Dead, Portal, Team Fortress 2, etc.)
It's essentially a physics sandbox. You can do anything you want...Pose characters, build working contraptions that run on Source's physics, indulge in some FPS action, etc.
There are a lot of talented artists who work on porting characters from other games into Gmod, and the Link Model is a part of the "Brawl Pack" which has been in development for well over a year. They're trying to convert as many models as possible from Super Smash Bros. Brawl over to Gmod.
There've been a few other fun outcomes of this project...The Master Sword and Hylian Shield, ported directly from Brawl, are also now available as alternate models for the Sniper's Razorback and Kukuri from the game "Team Fortress 2"!
Cool! Where do you use this Gmod? Can anyone use it?
Gmod can only be found on the Steam Network. There's a free, outdated version, Gmod 9, and the full, updated version, which costs $10. Both require you to have another Source Engine game installed on your computer in order for it to work. (And it has to be a ligitimate copy, pirated versions will not work.)
