Re: Ending the series

If the Zelda series would drop, im seriously going to be worried about the overall quality of the video game medium. Seriously I don't think anything would be able to replace the series and accomplish what Zelda has since the original. If you grow tired of the Zelda formula and the repeating story, there are plenty of ther good franchises out there. Why should Zelda have to go just because you don't like it anymore? There are new generation of gamers that can enjoy the franchise in the future if it continues. Dare I also ask why Zelda? Is there any gaming series that has tried more concepts and ways to do gameplay than Zelda? And why do people think that the series has suddenly grown incapable of evolving?

I'm open to a spiritual successor, as long as they keep making regular zelda games

I love you lefty.

ANYWAY, back on topic:

You all missed the point, I do like the Zelda series, I just want it to end, because it's becoming stupid, repetitive, and stale. Having a spiritual successor would take care of all your little 'WAAH WAAH I WANT ANOTHER ONE' arguments, so drop those, and everyone who thinks that the game play and story isn't getting stale obviously hasn't been playing long enough, or played enough of the games.

That is all.

Re: Ending the series

Miyamoto just needs to retire already. He is holding Aonuma back. Aonuma created MM, which was a step in the right direction. Aonuma only made TP because OoT fanboys were whining that TWW was too childish.

Re: Ending the series

If they decided to end the series with a damn fine game and proper closure to the storyline (not to say making it complex, just clearly final) I'd be all for it. No half-assed "well, that's the last one" stuff, but a proper finale.
Wind Waker would've been a pretty good finale, had the series ended there. I'm not saying Zelda should have stopped after Wind Waker, but damn did that game have some massive ****ing closure.

Re: Ending the series

I think the fans are the ones who are getting stale. New fans are the ones who tend to complain less, as far as I can tell. People who have been playing for years are the ones who claim that a Link to the past is a rehash of the original Legend of Zelda because they both contain spectacle rock.

Re: Ending the series

i think that is a crappy idea..

with lore the size of texas we could have so much more to branch off of.. so muchof the already established story to explore..

and there will always be room to actually join the differing stories in the games in a way that actually makes sense.. doesnt have to be in a chronological order.. but there is always room to start piecing it together..

i will say that zelda does need to change the oil a little bit.. same old tired formula from back in the alttp days.. engine is starting to run a little sluggish..

but zelda is not without life.. or vigor.. hell.. even if they DID do another of the same old tried and true.. im a fan of the little green hat and the little green tunic.. zelda will always get my money..

Re: Ending the series

I agree with Admiral Black. Zelda had a damn good run, but since Majora's Mask each successive game has decreased in quality, and some would argue that this started before MM. It's clear at this point that Nintendo isn't going to take the series in a new direction, instead they're going to keep using the same old formula again and again.

I realize that they'll probably not end the series anytime soon either, because everone will keep shelling out cash for anything with the word Zelda stamped on it. This may be good for business but it's bad for the gamer who will have to deal with worse and worse games. As for the timeline, I say there isn't one, but Miyamoto and Aonuma just tells everyone there is so people will keep arguing over it, and they'll want to keep buying their games so they can try and figure out where it fits in their timeline theory.

Re: Ending the series

Here's how I see. Everything must end eventually. I'd rather have a planned, epic ending, than an ending due to stupid stuff like the franchise not making enough money or Nintendo going out of business. Preferably before it decays even further.

Dude, they had every intention of making another calendar once the current one ended.

Is this one of those theroies that the world will end in 2012? Is it because the ancient calendar ends that day? Because they had limited knowledge and based their calendar off the stars, which without the aid of a telescope they couldn't see much.

Re: Ending the series

I was making a joke though you're right in me referencing the Mayan Calendar. I don't think the world will end but i do think something signicant will happen on December 21st 2012.

Anyway if the theory i just posted is wrong then they probably just got tired of making their stupid calendar.

Two words: Don't stop it.

And on a second note, that's what she said. <3

And on a third note, those were three words.

But anyway, it doesn't need to end. EVER. EVAAAR.
