Link saves the day, and then is told to leave

At the end of Majora's mask when everyone is saved. Tatel hints that Link should leave. Why? He saved the day, shouldn't he at least get to stay for the party. If it was not for Link, there would be no celebration in the first place.

edit: Sorry, but that's not the whole ending at least.

Tatl didn't hint Link that he should leave at all, he made that decision on his own. You probably interpreted that from his nod, but I interpreted it as his farewell to her. Then when he rode off, she called out his name then trembled in sadness like she's really going to miss him. That tells me he wasn't told to leave.

Well anyways, look really close at the ending, specifically during the Indigo-go's performance, and you will see Link celebrating with them.

Shouldn't you be returning home as well? Whenever there is a meeting, a parting is sure to follow. However, that parting need not last forever... Whether a parting be forever or merely for a short time... That is up to you.

Yeah he should have chilled for a while,
but maybe its because he doesn't really belong in that place n' all, he needs to go back to his "world" or something

I like to think he layed back for a day or two at the carnival, but then it really doesn't matter. If you count the ending clips as taking place after the game, then he does.

Link did stay to celebrate. Did you not pay attention to the end credits? He's playing guitar.

I think Link doing his signature polite nod gives the feeling that he is politely obeying Tatl's suggestion to leave and go home. I think the ending credits give hints that he stayed to play guitar for the Indi Go Gos during the celebration. And then he left to either return to Hyrule or maybe to continue the search for Navi.
