Re: Solution for divided Zelda fans?

So because one, IYO, one game failed to introduce any new ideas the series is dying? Why does every Zelda game have to innovate? Can't at least one be made just to be a good game?

The effect of that design is to be ridiculous; It's hardly indicative of the entire game.

It hasn't just been one game. Zelda hasn't been truly innovative since Majora's Mask, and Wind Waker was the last game that was actually fun.

The same reason Metroid games innovate: They keep the series fresh prevent it from becoming the dry withered husk Zelda has become.

MM didn't innovate it just had some interesting gimmics like every game. That's how they design a Zelda game, they just choose something to build a game around. With MM it was masks. With WW it was Sailing. With TP it was Midna. With OOT it was swapping between adult and child link. WW being the last game that was actually fun is very narrowminded of you. There are multiple people that like MC, TP, and PH, i'm among them.

Do yourself a favor and stop playing Zelda games then. You can't expect a new and breathtaking Zelda game to come out all the time, it’s not easy to come up with something truly innovative everyday is it. Some games will satisfy various people and some won't, that’s just the way it is. Take Pokemon games for example, I mean what has changed from them apart from graphics and added new Pokemon, nothing much but they still sell and are fun to play, apart from Gold and Silver, the rest didn’t really introduce much.

Btw, MM is not truly innovative I don’t know what makes you think that nor is TWW, all it did was use a different formulae to previous Zelda game(s), just like OOT did when it first came out, and don’t say that it copied alttp, OOT added a lot more new features then it actually copied from alttp, Just like MM.

When I played MM, it didn’t give me the WOW factor OOT did when I first played it. A Zelda game which I would consider truly innovative is the original Zelda game where it introduced you to be able to really explore and move in all direction due to the birds eye view it had, something which was never done or seen before.

TP I will admit is not the most original of Zelda games, but that still doesn’t take away the fact that it was a really fun adventure game. To me all that matters is that the game is fun to play, if it is not so original, who cares as long as it gives one a good experience and enjoyment that’s all that matters.

Re: Solution for divided Zelda fans?

Yeah silver enlighten us, what innovations did MM have?
The reason innovation is hard nowadays is because so many ideas have already been implemented. Once again no innovations were really introduced in MM.
Silver can't you play a game just because it's fun and not nitpick about how it might not add anything. While TP didn't add anything it improved on many things.

Re: Solution for divided Zelda fans?

Why should the divided fans be brought together when there are different games in the series that please different people. We don't have to like all of them. Sometimes other fans get what they want and sometimes some other group of Zelda fans are happy. You can't and shouldn't even try to please them all at once.

Pfft. Yeah, Metroid Prime 3 was incredibly more innovative then Metroid Prime. I agree with you that without innovation a series dies, but seriously; using Metroid as a reference? A series that just had 3 identical games released back-to-back-to-back?

Zelda will never die, even if the next 4 games were identical to Twilight Princess with a different story and new dungeons. Nintendo has just about perfected the gameplay aspect of this series. Regardless of what they do, a large section of the fan-base will go berserk (ref: train). For me though, I know that, as long as they don't alter the main gameplay elements, the next Zelda games will be huge hits in my book.
