Re: Has anyone played through a Zelda game without a guide?
I didn't use a single guide for any of the LOZs i've beaten, which is LOZ 1 and 2, LttP, OoT, MM, WW, and TP (on Gamecube).
I still have yet to but LA DX and the Minish Cap and Phantom Hourglass P.S: I don't even count the Four Swords games as part of the "Real" LOZ series lol

Re: Has anyone played through a Zelda game without a guide?
I don't really use a guide that much...
When I was playing TP for the first time, I used a guide the whole time I was playing it.. But now, that I'm playing it a second time, my parents told me that I'm not allowed to use the guide, and I haven't yet... Well.. Only once, to solve that puzzle, to get to the master sword... XD And also, for Phantom Hourglass, I haven't used a guide for that yet... Wait... I have, but just to get through one level in the Temple of the Ocean King... But that's it. And I haven't used a guide yet, in Ocarina of Time, so... I'm doing fairly well so far, for that. ![]() |

Re: Has anyone played through a Zelda game without a guide?
I only ever used a guide for TP and PH, but I could of easily done them both without guides (I didn't wanna waste the guides). As for the rest of the zelda games, I might of searched for clues on the internet a few times, but I can't remember ever doing it.

Re: Has anyone played through a Zelda game without a guide?
Yes. Most of them. Only used a guide once. It was for MM long ago, but other that that I always go the first time without one after that I check if I have missed something like heartpieces or secrets. But I don't want to ruin the game by using a guide. I want to figure thing on my own and lately in the later games it has unfortunately never been a challenge. I want the challenge back!
There is much reward in finding the right thing to do and I just love the old games with their trading quests, finding someone that says something that you remember when you get a certain item and there you have the next step. I just love the 2D trading quests and want more of them. You don't use guides to do that. You find it on your own. Exploration is a big part of Zelda and we need more of that in the newer games too.
