Character and Enemy Name Confusion! A Field Guide (Vol. 1)

OK. Let's see. We got some Kokiri: Mido, Fado, and some others sounding like those. We also got: Monblins, Moriblins, Moblins, Bokoblins, Miniblins, and Bulblins. Whaaaaaa?! That's confusing! The Kokiri ones especially; they're the easiest to mix up. The Mido guy is in OoT and is the dude that hates Link and thinks he's in charge. Fado is the former Sage of Wind in WW.

As for the -blins, here's a list that will clear those up:
  • Monblin=a giant Moriblin that has a giant hammer that sends out giant shockwaves everytime it hits the ground, found at the end of the Sacred Forest Meadow in Lost Woods as an adult in OoT.
  • Moriblins=a creature that looks a bit like an angry dog, these muscular monsters will charge at you with a spear in Sacred Forest Meadow in Lost Woods as an adult in OoT.
  • Moblins=These pig-like things carry long pikes and are really pretty stupid, except when it comes to security in Forsaken Fortress. They can be found in Forsaken Fortress and a bunch of other places in WW.
  • Bokoblins=These guys sometimes carry a sword or a bow, but they are most often found wielding Boko Sticks. They are found all over in WW.
  • Miniblins=These annoying runts hunt in packs and make weird noises when hunting. They are found all over in WW and PH.
  • Bulblins=These goblin-like monsters are usually seen riding Bullbos. They are notorious for being obnoxiously good archers. They are found all over in TP.

Hope this was a bit helpful. Those that are not so easily confused probably found this pointless, but for those of us who are easily confused by these kinds of things, it was probably pretty useful.

EDIT: OK, already! So, apparently the writers of the OoT Perfect Guide at Versus Books made up the names "Moriblin" and "Monblin". Maybe they really are just Moblins (although I swear I remember Navi's ID'ing thing saying that the giant one was a Monblin). Whatever. Doesn't really matter any more at this point.

I'm 99% sure that the huge ones in the Sacred Forest Meadow were Moblins.

Dont know where you got that but that be Moblins in them thar woods, sir!
(atleast thats what i always thought.)
Also the Moblin design seems to have varied between pig and dog faces over the course of the series.
Dog Faced Moblins: Appear in LoZ, AoL, OoT, LA(i believe)
Pig Faced Moblins: Appear in ALttP, WW, TMC, etc.

Thoughtful guide,
Although, originally believing the ones in OoT are Moblins,
and never heard of a Monblin or a Moriblin I checked it out.

There has never ever been such a thing as Monblins or Moriblins
Unless of course you've created it solely for the purpose
for separating pig face to dog faced Moblins.

Re: Character and Enemy Name Confusion! A Field Guide (Vol. 1)

I got the Monblin and Moriblin from the OoT Perfect Guide from Versus Books (some game guide publisher that lasted for only about 5 years; Casey Loe, who is currently a reporter in Nintendo Power, America's Nintendo magazine, worked as a writer at Versus Books). So maybe (or maybe not) they are all just Moblins. I think it would be easier to call them Moriblins and a Monblin, since there would be so many Moblins, and that would make things more confusing.

Re: Character and Enemy Name Confusion! A Field Guide (Vol. 1)

i dont think any of us are confused really.
they are all enemies and need to be defeated.
and all are pretty simple to bypass.
also, i agree with everyone saying they are just moblins.
never heard of those ones that sound like you made them up.

All I know is that OoT's official site calls them moblins.
