Most Touching Ending

Which ending from a Zelda game is the most touching to you?
Mine is the one from Twilight Princess when Midna takes farewell and shatters the mirror...
So, what's yours?

Re: Most Touching Ending

For me its always gonna be OoT. I had really grown so attached to the characters, so it was great seeing them band together to defeat Ganondorf, as well as all the minor characters celebrating in Lon Lon Ranch. Oh and my two favorite sages looking at eachother as if to say "We did it!" And then the scenes with Link and Zelda while Zelda's lullaby plays. For me it had the right mix of epic, sad and celebratory moments, and made you feel happy that you beat the game, but still sad that its all come to an end.

Though the same with the Oracle games. The music just made it incredibly satisfying, but still a bit melancholy. Though to be fair I find just about any Zelda game touching!

Mind you TWW was another ending that just made me feel rather sad. The Hyrule I had come to love so much was just getting destroyed, and I had spent most of the game hoping we would save it. I also thought the King just wishing for it to be drowned was just overdramatic.

The other really sad ending was the one to LA. No further explanation is needed

Re: Most Touching Ending

OoT for me. Since it was my first game, it was sad. It's sad to see Navi leave (believe me, I still get teary today seeing that), the music is beautiful, and seeing everyone celebrate at Lon-Lon Ranch after the defeat of Ganondorf...with no Link to celebrate with them.

Seeing Link place down the Master Sword and walk away and hearing the beautiful music playing and seeing "presented by Nintendo", it's beautiful.

There's also MM's ending.
When you leave Skull Kid after he asks you to be his friend. Then when the credits roll and you see Anju getting married. So sweet.

Twilight Princess's ending was sad, too. But not as sad for me as OoT and MM.

aLttP's ending was great. It really made me feel as if I had truly accomplished something.

Re: Most Touching Ending

LA's.

Imagine. The world around slowly slowly vanishes as you play the Ballad of the Wind Fish, the song of awakening. Sacrificing the fond world in which you made so many good friends and memories, including Marin, to save the Wind Fish and yourself from being trapped forever. From which, you find yourself stranded in the middle of the sea on a pole, once part of your ship. Yet you do not panic because of it, rather you sit down on this pole and think of all of what has happened to you. And just then, you see the great Wind Fish himself soaring high in the sky, and you can't help but smile...

Beautiful.

Re: Most Touching Ending

Link's Awakening. It was the first game with a bittersweet ending I ever played. all the rest were your typical "good guys win, bad guys lose, and we all rejoice!" Except maybe one NES game where a friend of a member got into a fight with a boss off screen, and dies. However, I never got attached to him.

I did get attached to Marin, and some others on Koholint. Then to see the island disappear kind of killed the "Yay, we win!" moment. Though Link and the Wind Fish get free, so it's still good. And if you want to believe that Marin somehow turns into a seagull, then all the better.

It was also the first game where I actually got attached to characters. There just isn't a whole lot of character development or interaction in the NES games I played.

If TP's ending was so emotional, then how come Link didn't show any emotions!?

Re: Most Touching Ending

They did really well with The Wind Waker's story. Probably the best Zelda story, or near the top at the very least. One of the reasons why it's in my top three Zeldas.

If OoT's ending was emotional, why is OoT Link's face a blank stare 24/7.

At least TP Link can smile, frown and all that.

Give OoT Link a break lol, he's just an N64 version

Btw, OoT Link has been known to show minor emotions, but because the graphic quality is lower, people don't notice it all that often.

But for GC/Wii, one would expect them to work on the emotions a bit...

The only obvious emotion from TP Link i can remember is the horny ****ed up smile he gets when it starts raining Ilia's...

Link doesn't talk, you can't get that emotional with a combination of silent protagonist plus limited graphics and facial expressions. Also, he was oviously overjoyed when he saw her alive, embarassed when he saw how buitiful she was, and shocked when he relizes she intends to destroy the mirror. Those are all emotions last I checked.

Anyway' I vote TP.
EDIT: Why isn't the a poll?

You didn't see Link's face the way I remember it. It was a 1st person view when he did that.

True, that scene is really freaky. But seeing Link's stare down Telma's ample bosom did make me think that the reason he never makes a move on the various young women who throw themselves at him is because...
He secretly wants a nice glass of MILF.

I agree. Unfortunately, whilst i have LA, my advance Sp is missing, so i can't play it any more you summed up my feelings about the ending to LA perfectly. I wanted Link to stay and see what happened between him and Marin. I always preffered Marin over Malon. I even made a habit of not going to battle the final boss so i cud stay on koholint. When that 3D Link's Awakening is done, that'll be a great oppurtunity. Providing it's accurate.

Re: Most Touching Ending

Ocarina of Time, by far. It was my first Zelda game, and I just loved everything about the ending: Zelda sending Link away back to his time and thanking him, the party in Lon Lon Ranch, the Sages overlooking Hyrule on Death Mountain (I think this is my most favorite part of the ending), Navi's farewell (!!!!), and when Link goes to see Zelda one more time. Not to mention the music was pretty freaking awesome.

My second choice would be obvious, though: Twilight Princess. I seriously cried when Midna shattered the mirror. Why, Midna, why? >:O

Re: Most Touching Ending

IMO OOT and TP were more sad and tragic. In TP the mirror shattered and Link seemed to be really hurt over it if you ask me. In OOT I felt more sorry for Zelda with Link being a pure hearted forest child in a mans body who seemed totally clueless about Zelda's feelings for him in the scene in the sky. He just gave back the ocarina without expressing any emotion to her as he just stood there the entire time with his infamous blank and oblivious stare without saying a grunt or implied speech to Zelda even as he floated away back to the Child Timeline permanently.

MM, WW, AOL, and ALTTP seemed to be more positive and uplifting endings for me.

Re: Most Touching Ending

Why has no one mentioned TMC yet?

That ending made me so sad, I wanted to cry. I didn't want to see Ezlo have to leave because he was so damn awesome. Seeing the castle come back to life was touching as well, because one with a pure heart combined with the power of the Minish Cap (the hat Ezlo made is the Minish Cap, not Ezlo himself), can bring the bad times back to normal. Very, very touching and by far my favorite Zelda ending.

Re: Most Touching Ending

end of TP defanitely (I know, obvious, right?) I felt like I was torn up at the ending..... As if I was Link and Midna was leaving me forever. I found a thread here via looking on the internet that happened a while back (that's how I found this forum!) and after reading all of the possible reasons Midna destroyed the mirror and left I felt better.... still sad though...

the end of WW was pretty sad too but not NEARLY as much.
