Re: Most Touching Ending

I never found the OoT ending tragic. I mean, he can still remake all his friendships. It is a little sad that he can't really go back to his old life, but that's true for life in general.

Re: Most Touching Ending

i guess im one of the only people who found WWs ending severely lacking...

anyway ALttP...seeing all the characters happy and Link's uncle coming back and seeing Link put the master sword back was really cool (not to mention that epic credit roll)...
OoT had a good ending too...seeing all the sages look back on Hyrule was really awesome to me..

I agree the ending was lacking. The loss of Hyrule was nowhere as epic as it should have been. I still felt rather sad about it though.

On the other hand, the pint where you heard "Triforce Chart" was when the game started to take a severe dip in quality. No dungeons, having to deal with Tingle, lots of fetch quests, and the easiest final battle in Zelda. Not to mention a very short ending as well.

I wasn't blown away by WW's ending either. But it seemed more of a happy ending for Link & Tetra than it was for Link & Zelda in OOT and Link & Midna in TP IMO.

Re: Most Touching Ending

Twilight Princess, hands down.
~Midna, recovered B-word, has blossomed into a truly caring individual, and this you experience first-hand. So at the end when her tear floats through the air and she shatters the mirror...of course there's the possibility that Link will never see her again. And the last expression you see upon Link's face is very, very sad.
~I was never one for the LinkxZelda pairing. But I absolutely adore Midna. And when Link ran away from Zelda to return to Midna when he saw her upon the hill...well that was nice. ^_^

Any replies that simply name or list several games aren't acceptable; please, elaborate on why you found that particular ending to be emotional.

Re: Most Touching Ending

3D Positive endings:

MM: Link no longer needs a fairy to tell him what to do and socially interract thus the beginning of his transition from an emotionally fragile orphan/lonely social misfit to manly hero is my interpretation of the ending.

WW: Link & Tetra are sailing off together on unknown adventure. Very upbeat conclusion if you ask me.

3D Sad endings:

OOT: Zelda seemed deeply saddened over the circumstances of Link going back to the Child Timeline due to him being a fairy boy in a mans body and being clueless to her feelings in the scene in the sky. After the shared adventure as Shiek and a big emotional attachment to Link, Zelda's sad face and Link's indifference in preference to entrusting Zelda to restore his childhood without even saying goodbye or giving Zelda a hug or kiss is probably the most tragic love that was never meant to be story I have ever seen.

TP: Midna shattered the mirror and there was deep sadness between her and Link obviously. What more is there to say?

Re: Most Touching Ending

Link's Awakening had a touching ending. I think what made it so great was seeing the Wind Fish soaring at the end, and then the seagull.

But I really like ALttP's ending, too. When Link touched the Triforce, he wished to fix all of what happened. The king returned, the sage was revived, Sahasralah was able to come home, his uncle was alive again, the maidens we brought back, the flute boy is brought back to the Light World and reunited with his father (or grandfather, I don't remember).... it was a very joyous ending.

And then there's OoT, who's ending really, really touched me. I thought it was great that on one side of the timeline (Adult), everybody celebrated the saving of the world and life could go on without fear. And on the other side, Link is back in his child form, and he reunited with Princess Zelda, not only to warn her about Ganondorf and tell her the story of his adventure, but to rebuild the friendship. I really liked that last scene.

Re: Most Touching Ending

I agree with you on ALTTP and I like your more happy interpretation of the OOT ending. I agree that in the Adult Timeline the happiness of the people and diverse races of Hyrule was positive but I still felt sorry for Adult Timeline Zelda since its canon that she never got a real chance to be romantically involved with her dearly beloved and precious Link who tragically didn't seem to feel the same way about her at all. I guess the 7 years lost maturity explains that rather easy on that issue.

But as you referenced at least Link seemed to have some type of emotional attachment to start things over with the Child Timeline Zelda in terms of friendship. Though it was at the expense of Adult Timeline Zelda who never had a chance to be romantically involved with her dreamboat Romeo who unfortunately was a man physically but with the heart & mind of a sexually innocent boy. Tragic indeed. On the positive side, at least for Link he gets another chance to reestablish his friendships from the Adult Timeline once again.

I agree with you 100%

Alot of the zelda's had good endings, but the most beautiful one was TP's......at least for me......

OoT's was good and i still love it, but TP's Midna just shattered my heart *Runs of to play Alttp/TP/WW/OoT for the millionth time*

Re: Most Touching Ending

Ocarina of Time for sure. That game mystified me when I first played it when I was 8. I remember watching the ending after my brother beat the game, and I was just so happy to see these 3D polygons celebrating... and Link putting the Master Sword back... and Navi leaving.

I have the ending music on my iPod and I don't really listen to it because it affects me that much

A Link to the Past, Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening. In that order. Not that they are so touching but I just love them.

Re: Most Touching Ending

I'm gonna have to say Link to the Past. That song that plays during the credits after you see all the people of Hyrule you saved has such a nostalgic touch to it. To me it truly caps off the ending to a great game.

Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask come in close second.

Re: Most Touching Ending

I think that Twilight Princess had the most touching ending.
It was sad how Midna broke the mirror at the end of the game, yet she had to do it because light and shadow can't mix.
It was heartbreaking to watch her do it.
And the look on Links face is sad to see.

This.

I don't know... TP was the first Zelda game that actually made me teary. You could just feel how strong the bond was between the two and Link's expression when he lost her forever as they went their separate ways.

OoT was second. It wasn't teary for me, just more epic.
