Which Zelda Game is the "Darkest"?

MM...The whole END-OF-THE-WORD theme isnt to happy

I'm so torn between MM and TP...

I think that the only way OoT stands a chance in this battle is because of the Shadow Temple and Well. I mean, the miniboss of the Shadow Temple was Dead Hand. That's pretty nasty. And the little skulls and doors and things make reference to blood, war, greed, etc.

But, MM because ~
1. The reeeally creepy moon with a face is going to crash into the earth (people cannot say this enough, it was that scary)
2. There are miscellaneous spirits roaming the Ikana Canyon, and the whole thing with the Captain giant Stalfos...well that was creepy.
3. The Stone Tower was all inverted and creepy and weird.
4. The imp was possessed. Period.

And TP because ~
1. The whole fact that Link was right there, but because Ganon turned the world into Twilight meant that Link had to stand there and watch the children and his friends tremble in fear, and he couldn't talk to them in Twilight.
2. The cut scene at the Lake with the interlopers, 'dark Link' type figures, Ilia, the dagger...
3. Zant. He was crazy. He WORSHIPED Ganon.
4. Disgusting little creatures, like the Twilit parasites and Shadow Beings and whatnot.

Overall, MM gave me that creepy, spinny, nauseating feeling. But TP made me feel more distant, secluded, like my whole life was changing and I would never be the same again.

MM because a child wants nothing more to kill all human life on earth.

WOAH! I'm the first one to vote OoT? Seriously. I know MM and TP were meant to be dark...but OoT was some serious crap back in the day. Walking into the market for the first time as an adult...oh maaaaaaaaaaaan, in 1998 I was afraid to get near a Deku scrub, and then I meant...the ReDeads. *Shudders*

I put OOT. Some of the dungeons freaked me out, with like skulls and blood on the walls. >_>

MM is definitely darkest, but it could have used some of that stuff.

Um Dark as depressed? Or dark as graphics?? I choose TP for graphics. A lot of the time, I would have to use my lamp outside on a rainy day. I have not played enough MM to give my opinion about that game.

This is actually pretty hard. OoT, after seven years, the whole game becomes dark and gloomy. When you first come out of the dark and creepy marketplace to the Fields, all you see is thick, dark mist. The shadow, forest and even the spirit temple...hell the whole atmosphere is darkness.

TP's was dark simply because of the Twilight, but it wasn't THAT dark; by far, the darkest place was the Twilight Palace and Hyrule castle. So OoT one ups TP on darkness.

MM's was dark simply because of the desperate atmosphere. Impending doom.

So... either OoT or MM?

And by "Dark", I DO NOT MEAN black colors and "omg-i-cant-see!" situations.

According to the dictionary, Dark's definition is...

"...relating to grim or depressing circumstances"
"gloomy; cheerless; dismal"
"evil; iniquitous; wicked"

So which Zelda Game do you think is the Darkest?

Majora's Mask. Sure, Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time both feature some legitimately dark moments, but in Majora's Mask you can actually experience the whole world being destroyed, not to mention there's many other dark, freaky parts (the alien abduction, the Gibdo man, in fact, the whole of Ikana Canyon).

Throughout this story, we've seen the Hero of Time as Young Link, Adult Link, Deku Link, Goron Link, and Zora Link. The Fierce Deity is the final incarnation of the hero to be revealed, and we see this form as Link reaches the final stage of his journey, as the story is about to come to a close. The Fierce Deity represents the culmination of Link's journey (and the player's): the strength and experience he's gained and the wise, powerful, and courageous adult that he's become.

Wait, someone actually voted for TP over MM? ZU scares me sometimes, but I guess it's the 12 year olds who haven't played MM...

Majora's Mask is, with no doubt, the darkest Zelda game. Its story talk about the world's destruction, evokes emotions like sadness, anxiety, hopelessness... The general feel of the game is pretty dark and different from the other Zelda games. That's why MM is my favorite Zelda game

I'm gonna be unoriginal, and say MM. Not because it's my favorite game, but because it's a materpeice of darkness. Link's horse and ocarina are stolen, he is transformed int0 a deku, and thrust into a world full of people with their own unique problems. The Southern Swamp is poisoned, the mountains are frozen over, the Great Bay is polluted, and the undead rome in Ikana. All of this on top of problems like Kafei's being turned into a child and the debate over whether Clock Town being evacuated, due to the moon's imminent fall (like that'd save them, anyway).

My second choice was OoT. Going into a cursed tree to destroy the curse's source, only to watch the tree die in front of you, and of course, Kakariko Village's dark past.

Twilight Princess of course. The plot of the entire game is about darkness, stupid.

I don't think you got what "darkness" means.

For anyone that wouldn't vote MM, i would have to ask if you have even played all three. MM is by far the darkest. Impending doom is three days away, everyone in town has one problem or another, and everything is justfalling apart.

Twilight Princess just isn't dark. It was trying too hard at something MM could do in it's sleep.

I'm going to say TP, getting turned into and dog/wolf, having to roam around in the shadow realm it just gave me a more apparent evil then the others.
