Re: Permanently Missable Items - A Guide

There is only a glitch for the Deku Nut upgrade at the Forest Stage. The Deku Stick upgrade can be obtained from the Forest Stage at ANY time in the game. I've just played this part in OOT on Wii Virtual Console (& this was actually the first time I heard of this glitch - after playing OOT for 10 years! I guess there's always something to be learned from that game!)

As for the Ice Arrows, you CAN get them, even if you unlock different doors in Gerudo's Training Ground. There are enough keys in within it to unlock all the doors. I just did this in my file on VC, because after playing OOT so many times, I thought it would be fun to try out the different doors, but little did I know that only 1 path leads to the Ice Arrows, so that forced me to hunt down ALL the keys. You can get the Ice Arrows without getting all the keys, but there are still enough keys to get them all.

Okay, I got the first upgrade, and went back to the Forest Stage. This time when I showed the Mask of Truth, they didn't dance around, but instead the background music from when you're avoiding the guards on the way to meeting Zelda played, and I received more rupees (fewer than before). Still no indication of any Deku Nut upgrade though. Is this the glitch?
The glitch is the specific deku scrub (who gives the upgrade) not showing up during the dance of the scrubs. It acted out as if you already got the upgrade, hence only getting rupees out of it.

Re: Permanently Missable Items - A Guide

You can get the 2nd deku nut upgrade even if you have been an adult as long as you didn't get the 1st deku nut upgrade before it. But if you already got the 1st deku nut upgrade, you have to do it before you touch the Master Sword, like said before.

Actually this is one of the most annoying glitches in all the Zelda games. I forgot this one like 3 times so far and every time I forced myself to restart the gorramn game, just because I always want the 100%.

You can. Actually, I don't even think you can get that Piece of Heart anytime before the purple fog shows up. I could be wrong about that though.

Anyway, you know how that monkey (I think it has a name, I just can't remember it) leads you through it by spinning your lantern above its head? Well, all you have to do is return to that area and manually swing your lantern and watch the fog creep away from the light.

I am pretty sure that the Deku Scrubs will not appear whatsoever...

THIS IS FALSE.

You can ALWAYS get the Ice Arrows EVEN IF you choose the wrong path. There are other well-hidden keys that you can obtain if you choose the wrong path. This is a fact because I've tried it before.

Re: Permanently Missable Items - A Guide

@Fishy: Yeah, I guess I was just trying to be overly comprehensive on that LA tunic bit. Also, I think that might be true on Medigoron's Knife in OoT--I'll have to take a look at it later.

At any rate, regarding the other issues that have been brought up:
- The Deku Stick upgrade at the Forest Stage (to my knowledge) can be obtained at any time.
- Regarding the Deku Nut upgrade, you can only obtain it with the Mask of Truth before pulling the Master Sword for the first time (you can meet the running man before this point, obviously). If you've already become an adult and try to return, the Deku Scrubs will do a variable amount of things (e.g. not appear at all, or appear and shoot you, etc.), but they'll never give you the upgrade.
- There are always enough Keys to get you through the Gerudo Training Ground and access the Ice Arrows.
- To obtain the Piece of Heart in TP after the purple fog settles over that section of Faron Woods, just swing your Lantern--problem solved.

I've looked at maps a gazillion times. I've visited each room almost a hundred times, and still nothing.

2 treasure chests that can only be reached with the Flying Rooster.

I know the one at the castle, but which is the other one?

In the room where you open a bunch of doors on your way to the Ice Arrow chest, try looking up at the ceiling with the Lens of Truth if you haven't tried that one yet. That leads you to a key.

I believe it's in one of the caves in Tal Tal Heights as you're searching for the Bird Key. In other words, it's possible to get the Bird Key, complete Eagle's Tower, and miss the chest.

Re: Permanently Missable Items - A Guide

Speaking of Blue Rooster...

There is a gigantic hole near Kanalet Castle which leads to one of the many Secret Seashells, and requires the flying rooster to get to it. However once you enter Eagle Tower, the rooster goes to the hen house and cannot be used again.

I think there is another optional item that requires the rooster, but I cannot remember.

Oh and the door room ceiling...... ****!

^Yes, and the other obvious one is the one where you need the Silver Gauntlets. That's it!

Yea, so in the gerudo training cave where you get the ice arrows, there is a room with lava and little islands. There is a high ledge with a key on it. Does anyone know how to get it?

I seem to recall playing the Scarecrow's Song to reach that ledge. That might be in the Master Quest edition of the game though.

Not missable, but the Ordon shield is permanently gone if you burn it (correct me if I'm wrong). Wooden shields from a shop does not have the same design.

Haha, yeah... During my first TP run, I had no idea you could get the Hylian Shield before going to the Goron Mines, so my Ordon Shield got burnt up.

Play the Song of Time, or the Scarecrow's Song if you're playing MQ (although, I don't even think there's a key there in the MQ version).

This is an excellent thread. I'm bookmarking it.

You may want to add in things like the special endings for 'No Deaths' completions ie: the La Marin-seagull, OoT scarecrow song playing, LttP one can't remember it though.
