Three Heart Challenge

Has anyone here ever beaten the three heart challenge in any Zelda game?
Beating a Zelda game with three hearts. I have in most of them. Everyone makes a big deal about it, but its just too easy for me. What does everyone else think?

I've done a Three-Heart, low% run of Twilight Princess, and a Three-Heart any% run of both Ocarina of Time, and The Wind Waker.
Majora's Mask, The Legend of Zelda, Adventures of Link, and A Link to the Past are out of my reach for a Three-Heart run.
And I just haven't got around to doing it for Phantom Hourglass.

I didn't know they even had a three heart challenge.... I oughta try it sometime.

nah, I've never tried it - I'm a collectivist, not a minimalist. I'm on the other side of the spectrum XD

but I think those that can beat it in three hearts are seriously skilled.

when you beat it in three hearts, do you also beat it with as few items as possible, or do you gather items as normal?

Ah, now see, I can't. I don't have them all. I'm missing the Oracle games, and Link's Awakening.

The way it works is that you ignore the heart containers after beating each boss. You aren't forced to pick them.

You can do that however you please. I usualy do an any% run when doing Three-Heart challenges, but sometimes I do low% runs.

I'm with Shaelyn here... I like to collect as many items/Pieces of Heart/whatever as I can as I'm playing through a Zelda game, so a Three-Heart Challenge is not my kind of thing.

What Sheylyn and Dany said. I like to collect things, especially if they increase my chances of survival. =P

But who knows, maybe one day I will do the challenge.

Actually, I do too. I love running around getting things. But sometimes I go against that for a better challenge (low% Three-Heart run on TP is about the same as a normal run, in difficulty, however).

What is 'low%'? Do you decrease your hearts to 1 before continuing?

No. I normally start the game intending to 100% it, but never do.

Low% run refers to getting a minimal amount of items, usually only the ones you NEED.
Any% run means that you can get as many things as you like, as long as they don't increase your heart count above three.

I think I would be better suited to Any%. I'm pretty sure that I would need bottled fairies and potions for my first run, whenever that is.

Low% is collecting the least amount of items in order to finish the game.

I've never done only a 3 heart challenge because most games arent worth it (TP, WW, MC, PH, etc.). I've done other challenges that also involve only 3 hearts like OoT uber challenge (which to me isnt really a challenge to me anymore) and OoT and ALttP low% runs (ALttP is pretty damn hard, OoT is absolutely ****ing impossible).

ALttP 3-Heart Challenge? That seems more impossible than OoT. Helmasaur King gives me trouble even when I have 10 HC.

ALttP Heart Challenge IS impossible. Because the game requires that you need to collect a heart container after defeating a major boss in order to progress further.

The same applies to LA.

...except that I've borrowed/am borrowing most of the games - and I'm not an ultimate badass like that I had a lot of trouble getting thru all the games except the two that I evidently can't do the 3-heart challenge on.

it's ok though. I'm still trying to catch up on the newer titles anyway; I'm not going to play the games I've already beaten another time around til I accomplish that. after that, hey, maybe.
