Triforce article
Hey guys, check out this short article I wrote about the underlying philosophy of the triforce. I would be very interested in hearing any questions, criticisms, comments, or suggestions when you read it.

Re: Triforce article
Well, I haven't read it yet, I'm afraid, so I don't know if it's any good. I do know that double posting isn't allowed tho. That is, posting twice in a thread without anyone saying something between your two posts. So, don't do it again, alright?
People will read and comment if they want to, if not, then it's a bit sad for you, perhaps, but you can't force anyone to read it. Edit: I just read it, and I must say, it's pretty good ![]()

Re: Triforce article
Hmmm... I agree with the article but isn't alot of this stuff self-evident?
I found it like reading an instruction manual for something which you already know how to use. |

Re: Triforce article
I quite enjoyed the second triforce article. The one you didn't link to.

Re: Triforce article
It was good, similar to Tralahad's(sp?) artacles here, summarises things, but most of it you already know. I liked it though, and in an odd coincidence was thinking (right before you mentioned it) that the whole earth, fire, air, water thing was very similar to the ideas in The Wheel of Time. All in all it was good, but it didn't really have a point.

Re: Triforce article
I enjoyed it. I thought it was a very good insight into the different symbols and ideas that the triforce represents. Very well written! If I had to make any suggestions, I might say that it was a little repetitive at times. Good job tho!

Re: Triforce article
I find it funny that a bunch of 15 year olds are telling the post college, probable future Masters degree wielder that his analysis is OK. [EDIT: I checked who posted before me and saw 1 15 year old and many more adults. Hehe, scratch that.]
It was great. A lot of the stuff was already second nature (I think it is to most Zelda fans), but more than half of it at least made me think. And I would of never thought of the the Later Day Saint connection. That intrigued me. And then he wrote a whole article on that! Bravo. Not the best article, but certainly written like one.

Re: Triforce article
Uh, DIUM? I am 19, and in college. So yeah, his is really good. Though what I don't understand is why are you taking the Triforce so seriously and trying to find the meanings within the meanings? It is just a video game icon.

Re: Triforce article
Groovemeister: Isn't alot of this stuff self-evident?
Yeah, I think so. I just wanted to explore how extensive that same three-fold pattern is. I'm sure I'm not the first to notice it. One purpose of throwing it all together was to see what else others have noticed, too. Dium: I quite enjoyed the second triforce article. The one you didn't link to. Thanks. One other example I might add is the three main attributes of God: omnipotence (Power), omniscience (Wisdom), and omnibenevolence (Courage). Ganon_Dwarf: It was good, similar to Tralahad's (sp?) articles here. Where could I find those? All in all it was good, but it didn't really have a point. True. I don't really have a thesis statement yet. Mostly I wrote it out because I had noticed so many connections, I wanted to collect them in one place. Some may not get more out of it than "Gee whiz," but there are actually some useful applications to everyday life (decision-making, speech organization, mnemonic devices, etc.). MasterSword89: If I had to make any suggestions, I might say that it was a little repetitive at times. Thanks. If I get around to revising it, I'll fix that. RandomGerudo: It's almost a college-level anaylsis (clean up the "dudes") here. (Not that I'm qualified to tell you it is or isn't.) Good advice is good advice, doesn't matter your age or experience. I tried to keep it conversational, but maybe I'll formalize it a bit more. Why are you taking the Triforce so seriously and trying to find the meanings within the meanings? It is just a video game icon. My noticing this pattern started before the Zelda games existed. (I mean, it shows up in ancient Hebrew and Buddhist texts.) The Zelda games just provided me with a convenient label for referring to it. Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. It's all very helpful. As my English teacher said, 90% of good writing is re-writing. Last edited by nathan000000; 08-23-2004 at 03:06 AM. |
