Official Zelda Easter Egg Thread.

OKAY! I guess this is now an Official thread. Cool. So, Easter Eggs are awesome. For those who know what I'm talking about, I'm sure you will agree. For those of you who don't, a quick explanation.

Easter Eggs take their meaning from the real Easter Eggs. They are fun little things hidden about everywhere is games that you may not notice your first time around, and maybe at all. But if you look closely enough, you notice something that is fun or just interesting. The most common Easter Eggs are references to other games, and even other series, but they can be just about anything.

So if, judging by the definition above, if you have found any interesting little whatevers in a Zelda game that someone else hasn't already said (If the thread gets too long, repeats are understandable- I wouldn't want to read through the whole thread to double-check either! :O), then feel free to share. After all, that's what this thread is here for!
Have fun!

ORIGINAL POST:

First things first: I understand that this thread will not last long, and I embrace the fact. So don't start bugging me about it. (Just so you know, an Official Easter Egg thread would ROCK.)

So a while ago I noticed something interesting in Twilight Princess. In the fist scene where you enter Zelda's room in Hyrule Castle, if you investigate the fireplace, you can notice that, unlike most fireplaces, it does not have a back wall. It extends back into darkness, suggesting that at some point in development, the designers were planning on using the fire place as a secret passage or something, but scrapped it. I tried getting in every way I could, but that fire is solid, unfortunantly.

So, I just thought that was interesting, and I thought I would share. And I was serious about the Easter Egg thread, any mods who may be reading. (EDIT: )

Re: Official Zelda Easter Egg Thread.

An official easter egg thread, huh? Well, sometimes what is deemed an easter egg is debatable. Maybe I'll put one in General Zelda if a lot of people like the idea.

It's possible, and not the first time it's been done in Zelda. Like in OoT, where there's a hole in Darunia's room's ceiling in early versions of the game. Originally you would drop down in the room instead of going to the DC entrance. That was changed, though.

Re: Official Zelda Easter Egg Thread.

I'd second the easter egg thread. I'm always looking for fun stuff that I missed. And the Zelda Wiki recently accepted Easter Eggs as a topic, it's small now, but there's really no way for us to pull these all from memory.

Re: Official Zelda Easter Egg Thread.

An Easter Egg Thread would be cool. I'd like it.
As for the one you found in TP, I didn't notice it, but I'll definitely look for it the next time I play.

I vote for the easter egg thread. Even debatable ones are cool because they are usually open for more interpretation.

First! (Since it became the official easter egg thread) I'm kidding.

In LA there is a picture of Peach.

Re: Official Zelda Easter Egg Thread.

I got this from Zelda Wiki:
"Head to the spot in the Astral Observatory, where the Scarecrow is. Break the pots nearby, and they will reveal a rough drawing of a dolphin. This is a reference to the GameCube's codename, "The Dolphin"."
I don't know if anyone else knows about this, but it's news to me..
I thought it was interesting.

Re: Official Zelda Easter Egg Thread.

Easter Eggs in LA:

*As SoM had said, there is a photograph of Princess Peach Toadstool from the Super Mario series. After you give the letter to Mr. Write as part of the trading sequence, he will show you this photograph he got in the letter.

*Goombas, Bloopers, Piranha Plants, enemies that resemble Bob-Ombs and Thwomps all from Super Mario fame appear as enemies.

*The Yoshi Doll appears in the Trendy Shop Game as part of the LA trading sequence.

*Chain Chomps from Super Mario fame makes a reappearance in LA, but are called Bow-Wows.

*The frog who teaches you the Frog's Song of Soul is supposed to be Wart from Super Mario Bros. 2/Doki Doki Panic. He is known in LA as 'Mamu' in both versions, which was his Japanese name in Super Mario Bros. 2/Doki Doki Panic.

*Kirby appears as an enemy too. In Japan it was simply known as Kirby, but he was renamed to Anti-Kirby in English.

*Mr. Write resembles Mr. Wright from a Sim City game for the SNES. Mr. Write's name is obviously supposed to be a pun. The music in his house is also a re-arranged theme of the Sim City theme.

*Richard of Richard's Villa is actually a character from a Japan only game called "Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru" (For Frogs the Bells Toll)., which explains why he has so many frogs in his house. His villa's theme is a re-arranged theme of the theme of Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru.

*Tarin strongly resembles Mario and seems to be a direct reference to him. This is supported that Tarin shows a love of eating mushrooms and at one point, is transformed into a raccoon, referring to Raccoon Mario/Tanuki Mario from Super Mario Bros. 3.

*There is a man on Tal Tal Mountain Range who owns a Cuccu coop. He appears to resemble Luigi.

Re: Official Zelda Easter Egg Thread.

Someone mentioned WW, I think all of the stained glass windows are an easter egg refering to the sages in OoT. Reminds me that the sages in OoT are easter eggs of some of the town names in AoL.

Re: Official Zelda Easter Egg Thread.

The Happy Mask Salesman has a mario mask and I think an elvis mask.

The Hero in PH is an easter egg/reference to WW, what with the "Prince of Red Lions" ship and all.

The eye on Midna's helmet looks a lot like one of Majora's Mask's eyes...not sure if that's considered an easter egg, though.

I never count the eye thing, but the Prince of Red Lions, that's a good point. I just added it to the page on Zelda wiki. Don't know how we ever missed it.

Which was then shortly removed, because THAT cameo page isn't supposed to list Zelda references that are referenced in Zelda games.

I updated my "Easter Eggs in LA" post.

And for good reason too. Those things you pointed out are really only good for game trivia or character trivia section.

Ah, yes, I have a screenshot of that:

Also, Malon, Talon, Romani, and Cremia all have brooches that resemble Bowser.
EDIT: And I forgot that if you wait long enough after "The End" screen in OOT, you will hear your Scarecrow's Songs played in a handful of different ways (like on Sheik's harp, through Malon's voice, whistled, etc.)

Wow, that is awesome! I don't think I'd get the reference even if I did notice it. Clever! I'll check it out next time I play MM.
