Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

I'm 10 and I have been playing Zelda since I was 6. I'm not sure why it is 12 plus.. someone already said the Great Fairy, that might be why.

Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

The only thing I can think of that ever "creeped me out" in a Zelda game was a couple of nights ago. I am playing through TP for the first time, and the cut scene with Dark Link and Ilia was very creepy. And I'm 27 years old...

Ugh, I'd faint if I witnessed that in real life...

yes im 19 and a veteran zelda player and i found this cut-scene so creepy, it just had a dark side to it i havent seen in a zelda game before, very cool to watch though. I thought it added a great element to the story and to the history of Hyrule and the twili.
I wont spoil it for you, but there is a few cut-scenes through-out the game that are consistantly creepy. Hope you enjoy.

12+ is ok for zelda TP it had some violence.
MM is the most creepy and dark zelda game.

Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

In general the ESRB is so unfairly rigged that you really can't trust them to be consistant. For example, Star Wars Republic Commando is rated T for Blood and Gore and Violence, while Halo is rated M for Blood and Gore and Violence. The same thing, but one has a higher rating.

Anyway, TP is perfectly fine for those under 12.

Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

I would recomment TP to younger children than that of Oot and MM.

MM in particular because of the bizarre and abstract/dark theme storyline.

Well... The game was that epic back in the day that I think not much people minded at all.

Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

Quite frankly I don't think any of the Zelda series is scary regardless of the fact that when I was 2 years and playing Zelda for the first time it scared the snot out of me but by the time I was 2.5, I was not scared anymore. so I do understand how i could be scary, to a 2 year old, NOT an 11 year old

Sorry

Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

Ugh I never listen to ratings. A lot of things are overrated. The only reason Zelda is rated what it is, is for fantasy violence and cartoon mischief. Which nobody ACTually cares about.

Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

I don't think you can really be "too young" concidering the kind of stuff that appears in the game. It all depends on the person. I know when I was young OoT probably would have scared me right out of my shoes. But my friend? Nah. She wouldn't be scared at all.

It all depends on the person. If it scares ya, and you don't want to play it, then maybe you're too young / you shouldn't play it. At least, untill you want to brave it again.

Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

I'm 15 and I've played Zelda since I was 9... I think. LTTP for GBA was my first ever Zelda. I should be thankful for dad, after all he is the reason I started to love Zelda.

Though, I haven't really been scared by any Zelda enemy XD

Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

When I was six, watching my brother play OoT, I would always hide behind the couch when he fought Redeads and turn the sound off when he went into the Shadow Temple.

Re: too young to play zelda... scarey?

Many preteens are exposed to a lot more horror and gore these days through TV shows. However, I wouldn't go around promoting the rating 7+ because TP is one of the more darker games. I believe that every kid is different, and the parents should decide or discuss with their child if they are ready for such a game.
