Zelda Movie: Volume III

Here is the place to talk about how our favorite game series might work on the Silver Screen. CGI or live-action? Old story or new story? Tights or no? Be imaginative, and keep it clean.

I believe we last left off disscussing Link's family. Should he have a whole family, just one or two relatives, or none at all?

I don't think it matters much. It really just depends on the plot at hand. Depending on the plot in mind, it could work either way.

Re: Zelda Movie: Volume III

If this is a first movie, I don't think Link should have a story of heroics, yet. The games usually depict him as a ordinary boy who becomes a hero. If I were the writer, this would be my take on the arc: A boy destined to become the Hero Chosen by the Goddesses. At age 3, young Link, while fleeing from invaders, he witnessed his mother along with several refugees get slaughtered. He was saved by Rusl, a rogue Hylian Knight. Feeling he needs peace, Rusl took him in at his hut near the Kokiri Forest. For seven years, Link knew peace and learned swordsmanship from Rusl, and got along with the forest spirits, the Kokiri, especially Salia. His life changed when told by Rusl to send a message to the Royal Family. He enjoys peace, but loves adventure.
His flaw however, is that he expects a lot from himself, a feeling that increases when he learns he’s the Chosen Hero. Initially he starts out as a reckless adolescent to a levelheaded hero, suffering so many ordeals.

As for Ganondorf, my background would be this: being raised in royalty, he's undoubtedly arrogant. However, he can't get over the fact despite his god king status in the Gerudo tribe, he can't do anything about the desert, not to mention the Gerudo are a hated race. So he participates with the Hylians in a civil war to redeem his tribe. He also sees the Hylians as omnipotent beings, them being the Chosen Race, and hoped a unified Hyrule under them would improve life for his people. But he eventually sees them as weak, malleable, and lacking true power, since to him nothing seems to have changed. So he soughts the Triforce, which becomes his obsession, corrupting him till theres' nothing left....but pure evil. (Ganondorf can just mention this story just like in Wind Waker)

I also thought of some quotes

Ganondorf (to Link): I have absolute power, but all you have is enhanced recklessness.

Ganondorf (to the King): From dust to nothing. Nobody will even remember your name.

Darunia (about Link): What the goro? Its just a kid goro!
Impa: Don't judge by appearances Lord Darunia. This kid took down a shadow beast, which normally takes two full grown Gorons.
Mikaw: You got served.
Darmani (Darunia's twin brother): You wanna go fishman?
Mikaw: Bring it Goron moron!
Hyrule King: Enough! Its tensions like these that started the civil war!
(note the racism)

Link: I'm willing to put my life at stake to do what I have to. But it has to be mine. Nobody else.

Ganondorf: I suggest we send him to the mines himself, to test his courage.
King Zora: Are you mad, Ganondorf? Send a child to his death? You were ruthless in war, but This?
Ganondorf: Its to see if he really is chosen by the gods to pull out the Master Sword. If he dies, then the gods were never with him.

If your talking to the user above you, then it is real. It is an independant film by BMB Finishes that has been in development for two years (well, they started the special effects two years ago, anyway. In other words, it's another full length fan movie, like Legned of Link. That video is saying that they are coming out with another trailer. (Original trailer can be found here: Legends and Adventure - A Zelda Fan Site

Live action/CGI mix (for monsters and effects)

New story

Tights. Nuff said. The ladies love the tights

YAAAAAA!!!!
No realy, I know it's a fan movie, and they don't have much of a budget, so I'll give them credit for thier efoorts. Way to go BMB Finishes.
But we have to be real. I honestly don't think that movie looks good at all. The acting costumes and story all seem to be less then satisfactory. So, yes there is a fan movie which we now know is still in prodction, but it's nothing to get excited about.

Re: Zelda Movie: Volume III

Is this thread about fan films? Not to me. Sage of Darkness didn't seem Zelda; i know its the budget but the revenge story, family connections and lack of adventure.

Legend of Link pulled it off extremely well, IMO. So I don't see why we should say this is crappy, especially when judging by an outdated trailer made before the special effects were put in. I say we wait for the new one before judging any further.

Re: Zelda Movie: Volume III

I'd like a real zelda movie with a big budget and lots of locations to shoot at.

If enough effort goes into this, it'll be amazing.

Would most vieo games movies be actually good if they actually put effort into it? I believe so. A friend believes so. The thing is, some of those filmmakers who made those failed video game films seem to care about the money. Films for the money go bad like dead fish. Like unsuccessful sequels to a hit-movie. Art isn't about the money. Its about passion (I'm an aspiring artist. Check my fanart). The writers of a planned Metroid movie without a doubt put alot o their time on making their story, but they took up too much, cause the rights eventually expired.
Now there are some good video game movies, because true effort was put into it (I never saw'em, nor do I plan to unless I play the games first). I also find something funny; the great filmmakers (presumably) know that video game movies fail, but ones like Peter Jackson wants to make a Halo movie, suggesting that he thinks videogame movies could work, if effort is put into it and if the game fits. I can imagine Gears of War made into a movie because it has story. The games with stories are more fit to be movies. Like a film remake. Mario never had much of a story, so it failed.

Re: Zelda Movie: Volume III

ur right,
The LoZ movie couldn't be based on a certain video game. It would need to have a story line. The dialog would need to be sooooo much better.
What do you guys think about having link talk?

Things we've talked about AND agreed on

1. Link will have to talk, whether live action or CG. He talks in the games you just get to fill in what he says. The people he talks to gets an answer more than yes or no.

2. Link should not lead an army or be a major leader. Link is not Like Aragorn. he does not give huge speeches but instead inspires people with his actions. Link has friends but he does not force people to join him and neither does he talk them into it. if people join him it is their choice.

3. The movie will not be like one certain game. It will not work like a game where the player choses where to go and how to fight. Dungeons would look a lot different and will be totally changed. the puzzles would not work as they are and the treasure chests would look extremely stupid in a movie.

4. Items that Link has will be simple. sword/swords, shield, bow, and maybe a few others. no extravagant items will be used (ball and chain, Spinner, etc.

If there are other veterans that have more to add, please add to this list.

also please do not bring up CGI vs Live Action. It has been talked to death and no one will change their mind.

I think Link talking in a game is tupid, but it'd work in the movie

It matters.

If you had no one to go back to and nohing left would you go off on some adventure? Sure, why the hell not?

If you had a loving family who would be upset and mourn your death would you go on an adventure that could kill you? You might, but there would be an emotional struggle.
