What do you name your character?

I'm so sorry if this is a duplicate thread, i searched.

What do you name your character (link) on zelda? Unless it's one of the "original" timeline links (oot/mm etc.) i always name him something different from link since it's not the original hero of time. I also make it somehow relevant to the story.

For the wind waker i want to name it something similar to the sisters name Aryll since you know, it's his sister. Basically another short name that starts with an A. I was thinking maybe Athelas, which means something like "plant of healing" in JRRT. It fits because plants are green, like the hero of time clothes and he "heals" because he is the hero of this storyline. Also maybe Aiglos, which means "point of ice", which doesn't really fit but it's still cool.

Anyways, I'd love to hear more ideas as well as if anyone else does this.

well usually for my first time around i stick with good ol' link, for my second i usually name it after either myslef or the last friend i saw that day.

I usually name him link but once on wind waker I named him eric. After Aryll says it twice it felt wierd and I gave the file to my sister.

I usually just go with Link because I'm not very creative. But I named him Enrai in PH and in La I named him baBde (I was only 4)

I named him Dan once in TWW, for some reason. I don't even know anyone named Dan, or Daniel or Danielle or Danny

Anyway, it's weird when he isn't named Link.

I almost always give him my name, simply to distinguish from the other files on the game. That, and it's cool to have the game calling me the "chosen of the gods" and so on.

Because most people want to name him Link.

That's the name he was given, and that's the way it should be.

The only reason you were able to change your name in the first place is because they wanted a way for you to be able to tell which file was which in the original LoZ and AoL. Neither game had text, so it didn't matter what you named the game (except ZELDA in LoZ), and his name would still be Link.

When ALttP came along, even though they gave the game text, they just kept the feature anyway.

The feature is their for a reason, i think it's cool when people name him something creative. Link is like, a pretty sucky name.

I always name the character on any game where you can change their name after myself. If there's more than one, I name my favorite character after myself, then the others after my friends and other names I think are cool.

Link the first time around. Although when I've completed it, I'll name my second file either my own name, or something weird like Lhyrt. Weird

The way it should be? The feature to change is there for a reason. I name him "Pinky" most of the time, because they never give you enough spaces for Pinkysmith.

Always Ryan...Not really much of an explanation behind it though, my name just happens to be Ryan and by giving the character your own name you just feel more immersed in the story, I guess.

Although the naming feature is there, I usually just stick with Link. Not because of lack of creativity, not because that's his real name, but just that there is something strange about not being called Link in Zelda games. There is something traditional about Link, and it is always so odd to me when I do try to break that tradition. Something I can't entirely pinpoint. It's not that I'm opposed to calling him something else, there is just something, I want to say other worldly about hearing, or rather seeing as there is no spoken dialog, people call him anything but Link. But only on my files. I have no problem watching other people play Zelda who don't name their character Link (my roommate always names all of his characters in any game, including Zelda, BOOBZORS for some reason or another), but if it's on my file, I just can't stand it for some strange, indescribable reason.

On a funnier note, and, as funny things tend to be, off topic, my roommate once named his horse MY B*TCH in TP and it ended up with some hilarious results. Mostly when the one guy asks where your horse is and he said, "Hey, where's my b*tch?"
