TWISTY plot!

When I played MM I always thought that it might be possible in the end that the Happy Mask sales man was the bad guy. In fact, I was pretty disapointed when I found out that he wasn't.

My dream in Zelda gaming, is to have a very twisty plot. I want a game in which your alley is your enemy in the end...OR you actually help your enemy without knowing it. ( And yes I am aware that this occured in Oot when you broke the seal for Ganondorf). But I mean a really help..! I want a surprise ending!!

So my questions for you are:

Are there any examples of other games that do this? Where your friend turns out to be your enemy?

What Zelda ending surpised you the most?

..Please discuss.

Re: TWISTY plot!

No Zelda endings are surprising. They are games written for children, so the good guy will always come out on top.

Lol yeah that would be funny if the HMS was a bad guy. You saw how freaky he could get.

Re: TWISTY plot!

the HMS may not have been the bad guy, but he was suspicous. In fact if it were not for Link, the HMS might have used the mask for his own benifit. Remember how he freaked out before you were transformed back? He nearly chocked Link to death.

Hmm, he was not the villian of the story, but he sure wasn't a good guy!

Re: TWISTY plot!

Tales of Symphonia had some pretty amazing plot twists (unfortunately, I guessed two of them before they actually happened. I hate being right about plot twists). I especially liked when ______ turned out to not actually be _______'s ______, and then ______ was actually an agent of ______, so you fought him in the _____ of _________. And then his boss shows up and _____ your ___ hardcore. Best scene ever. EVER.

As far as surprise Zelda endings go...well, none of them were particularly surprising. I suppose the WW ending was what got me most, actually seeing the Triforce being used and watching the KoRL stand there while Link and Zelda floated back to the surface.

Most games have the good guy ending up on top. Not just children's games. Zelda is not a children's game for crying out loud!

There's that bit in ALttP where you're escorting the maiden through that one dungeon, then she turns into a monster and kicks your ass.

True. TP's was disappointing. I liked TWWs though. ToS equals awesome.

It does too have blood. Ganon had green blood in the original OoT, red blood later. In fact, I'm pretty sure that there were some red splotches when Link got hit. If OoT had it, so did MM. WW was stylistically different and blood wouldn't fit, and TP was rated T BECAUSE of blood.

Even if it IS a children's game, the rest stands. The good guy comes out on top, even in more adult stories. And further, that's not what's meant by a twisty plot!

A twisty plot isn't where Ganon wins, but where the lines between allies and enemies blur until you're not entirely sure who is on your side and who isn't, and when the final enemy is the LAST person you'd expect. In a Zelda game, that would be great, even if it's only in the sense of, *gasp* Link's mentor was Ganon in disguise! Which is probably all we're gonna get as Ganon is the final enemy in half of the games (counting OoX as one).

Re: TWISTY plot!

I would love a Zelda game with plot twists. Twists are usually one of my favourite aspects of a game, since they keep it interesting for me. Especially when the true villain is one you really didn't see coming at all. I've only ever played one or two games where that's happened, so a Zelda like that would be awesome.

So yeah, a Zelda game with a 'twisty' plot would be excellent. I really hope Zelda Wii has one.

Jak II on the PS2. Although the real villain was pretty obvious throughout, he pretended to be your 'friend'.

Re: TWISTY plot!

I was actually pretty suprised in TP when you had to fight Zelda...I didn't actually see that coming. I thought that was pretty cool. Except I had a friend who played through the game before me and gave away the ending, so it pissed me off a little bit..ha.

As for other game endings..I havn't acutally played very many games except the Zelda series..so I was just kind of searching for suggesstions.

What do you Zelda fans think of other game series, what are some good ones? (P.S. No Oblivion)

Re: TWISTY plot!

If you're looking for a good RPG with a crazy ending, check out the Golden Sun games on the GBA. Fantastic. More games should have endings like that.
