OK, i have a feeling that this thread might be a bit pointless but...Do you guys think that Link often thinks of his parents?
I mean...I know its silly to ask but i just think its sad that in all of the Zelda games Link never has a Mother or Father. I know how horrible it is not to have any parents... ![]()

Well I kind of thought it was weird that he never had any parents but I am not a big Zelda buff so there is probably a logical explanation around that, plus if link like had parents they died before he was old enough to remember

I don't think so. He most likely has too much on his mind to think about them. He is saving hyrule after all.

Any bloodline relationships the Link's have had shown were never parents. The only one who ever had a parent referenced was OOT Link (that I can think of) his mother left him with the deku tree as a baby. So it is hard to tell if he thinks about them because there fate is usually unknown.

Well in OoT his parents were killed by a fire when he was young. He probably doesn't remember that though. But that is a good thought, maybe he does wonder what his parents were like sometimes. I mean he should have alot else on his mind but its possible.

*Thinks* Well is the games, his parents are not described much. From what I think was told in the games, Link did not know his mom and dad much. He might think about his mom and dad, but is likly too busy thinking of his adventure that he is in.

I don't think he would think of them often. Occasionally, but not that often. I speculate that Link's parents have died before each game (obvious in OoT, probable in every other game). The only Link that I think would reminisce about any of his relatives at all would be ALttP Link, since his uncle (who he was living with) dies in the first couple minutes of the game.

![]() I completely forgot about that. So yeah, WW Link and ALttP Link would be the only ones to reminisce about their families. |

In OoT, Link's father dies in a fire (don't quote me on this, but I believe he was a soldier fighting for Daphnes before he became King. I remember reading something like that... somewhere), and his mother is mortally wounded. Link, at this time I believe, is still only a few months old. She flees to the Kokiri forest and pleas to the Deku Tree with her dieing breath to raise her son. The Deku Tree senses that the boy is to play a very important role in Hyrule's future, so he agrees. Children don't usually start retaining much memory until they are about two-and-a-half to three years of age, plus Link didn't even know he was a Hylian, so he probably doesn't remember anything about them.
Wind Waker Link may remember his parents. They did live long enough to produce another child, Aryll. And I'm sure their grandma tells them stories about their parents, so WW Link may have some memories to hang on to. |

The ALttP Link's uncle is shown as alive and well at the end.
He lives with his grandpa in TMC. (Papa Smith. Makes me crack up. That's what people in town call him.) |

in oot Link's mom died in a fire and he was left with the deku tree. I doubt it though.
I would probabbly think about it if I couldn't remember my mom. But if he thinks he's a kokiri then he wouldn't because no one grows up so they can't have kids 50th post! |

I think that before the big problem of the game was introduced he woud have wondered who his parents were, and why they left him/how they died. However, we're forgetting that he has men that look out for him and act like a grandfather/father. Like in TMC, the blacksmith guy he lives with. I don't remember if he's his real grandfather but he watches Link, and in TP, he had the guy at the ranch and Russl who looked out for him. There were also the children of the village who he probably woud see as his siblings -- maybe. He isn't alone.

Well, he always starts off with at least 1 friend in his village, usually more. He never knew his parents, and lives with what and who he has, right? Plus in the games, it never really implies that he thinks about his parents, but, you know. Oh, and he gains friends on his quest, so he's not really that lonely. I wonder if knowing his parents would slow him down though, having to worry about their safety and his friends' safety? Like in WW he's always worrying about his grandma and Aryll, and comes back during his adventure.

And another thing;
If Link's parents were alive, coudn't they be used against him? Like, he had all the Fused Shadows, Zant holds his parents hostage until he shows up with the Shadows. I can see why nintendo went and killed off his parents early so that they wouldn't pose a problem later in the game.

Maybe Link might have been upset at some point. I remember in Twilight Princess after Link saves Ilia and that large lady (forgot her name) from monters that tried to prevent them from succeeding the trip from Hyrule town to Kakariko village. I remember the large lady talking about parents and Link had a sad expression on his face for a moment... I don't know if she was giving him memories of loosing his parents at a very young age or thinking about the parents of the children in Ordon Village... It was hard to think which one was right.
In the other games though, I think that Link had too much on his mind to think and to be upset about the loss of his parents. He would have other things to worry about instead of grieving. He made friends that he would have found closer than the memory of his parents.

Link knows who is grandmother is in WW, so logically he knew his parents, by the way if you think about it what the heck happened to his mum and daddy? Did they fall through the bridge and fell on those pointy rocks? (Hence the hole in the bridge and the bridge being off limits.)

I'm sure he's thought things like: "Hey, I wonder if my dad was a warrior before...I bet he had a bunch of interesting adventures himself."
There is an interesting photo in TP Link's house of a person on Epona. It's blurry, but you can quite clearly see that it's not Illia. Could it be Link? Or maybe his mother?
