The State of Magic

I have not played every Zelda game, mostly just the 3D ones, and I was wondering on the state of magic in Hyrule. What is the extent of it? Who uses it? Is it limited to certain people? Are certain 'spells' limited to certain people/races/bloodlines? What is required to use it? etc.

As well, as a side thought, what is the colloquial term for LoZ fans? I know Star Wars fans are called Warsies, Star Trek fans are called Trekkies, and I believe LotR fans are called Ringers... so what are LoZ fans?

In LTTP, they say this:

Our powers will increase if we mix the courage of the Knights with the wisdom
of the wise men. Only a short time remains until the gate at the castle linking
the worlds opens completely. If you defeat Ganon, this world will vanish and
the Triforce will wait for a new holder.
I believe in you...
Good luck!
So pretty much all the pointy eared people should be capable of magic.

Hm, I remember reading somewhere that Star Wars fans are Warsies because Star Trek fans were called Trekkies. I don't know about the LotR one, though. Maybe my intel was bad.

Magic is a mystical force that only a select few know about.

Re: The State of Magic

Magic can also be given to any race, but the uses are different as well as how it's obtained. For example the power could be from learnt or given from a Great Fairy.

Re: The State of Magic

I think magic is held by great faries and the triforce. I belive that any person of any race who has the will and heart to embrace magic (by going to the great faries) have the ability to use magic.

Re: The State of Magic

My friends at school call us 'over obsessed Zelda nerds with no real life.' But tis true about the Trekkies, as I am one as well, and a big fan of Star Wars. LotR- not so much. But magic is controlled by practically any skilled Hylian or sorceror.
