Comparing OoT to MQ Dungeons

POLL NOW OPEN. PLEASE VOTE AFTER READING THE THREAD!!

MASTER QUEST!!! It is an alternate way of achieving the same things as OoT, yet does it deserve the Title Master Quest. In this thread we will compare the dungeons and whether they really are harder, so please only post if you have a valid point! I think master Quest is an exaggerated name, and it isn't that hard. Here are my opinions of the Dungeons, then say, what are yours:

Deku Tree
A little harder, yet it's hardness would probably just be due to the fact it is different, however there were more enemies, yet Gohma was as easy as ever.

Dodongo's Cavern:
Also a little harder, but really just because it's different to what we expect. The boss, pretty much the same, may have rolled a little more then in OoT

Jabu Jabu's Belly:
Same as above, only harder because it is different. I found Barinade survived a lot longer, though he wasn't harder.

Forest Temple:
Not harder, really the same as above. I found phantom ganon a lot more aggressive, and actually died there.

Fire Temple:
A hang of a lot easier!!! You didn't need to free anywhere as many gorons to get keys. You barely need to go through half the temple, to complete the basic stroyline. I found that i was going through the temple, then when in the room, with the pillar in the floor that you hit down, I realised I don't need to go any furthur, i got the boss key and the hammer right at the start. Volvagia was much the same, just survived longer.

Ice cavern:
Much the same, to a little easier. Didn't need to use blue flame as much.

Water temple:
Harder, yet avaliable to easier. By that I mean, if you play through it properly it is harder, however you can complete this temple (With everything for the stroyline, obviously not perfect completion) in less than 5 minutes. You simply see Ruto, change the water levels, get the Longshot, change the water to the top, enter the corridor to the boss chamber. This is supposed to be harder, so they put hookshot poles, so you can skip the hard to get up, razor infested slope, plus with the poles, you don't even need the boss key. Just side jump off the hookshot pole, and press B to jump through the door, now you just defeat morpha. So Nintendo made this one easier if you want it to be, which is good, because water Temple= least liked temple. Morpha was easy, as usual.

The Well:
Harder. You had to do a lot more than just lower the water and defeat the boss. So the only dungeon so far worthy, of the title Master Quest. The boss was the same.

Shadow Temple:
Much the same, really. Bongo, Bongo was the same, however even in OoT he was already considered hard!!

Spirit Temple:
Harder. It involved a lot more time travel, and thinking. The boss was the same, but the dungeon was also worthy of the master quest title. It did however loose my OoT opinion of favorite temple!

Ganons tower:
Again, only harder because it's different. The boss was just as easy.

OVERALL:
Really much the same, just annoying to figure out because it's different to the OoT we are so familiar with.

Master Quest was such a pain; it got very frustrating at some points. Some of the dungeons were so ridiculous, I wondered if it was even possible. Eventually I beat it, and I was so proud.

What? That's ridiculous, that you can do that in the Water Temple. What a huge oversight on Nintendo's part.

Yea I've heard that plenty of times, that Bongo-Bongo is supposedly that hard. For some reason I always thought he was ridiculously easy. I mean you just press Z and it'll target a hand, then shoot an arrow. Then do it do the other, then hit the eye. Then slash. In fact, when he charges at you, you don't even have to shoot him, you can just spin attack. I would rate him personally the easiest of the adult temple bosses, even easier than Volvagia.

Well I think King Dodongo deserves mention too. He's one of my favorites but of course just stupidly easy.

You won't believe how much stuff Nintendo "oversight" with this game...

Also the bosses in Master Quest are exactly as OoTs bosses.... They have the same hit points and everything. I don't understand how you would have thought they were harder...

Anyway back to the topic:

Deku Tree:
Found it easier than OoT's Deku Tree and alot funner. Deku Scrub room confused me for a bit though...

Dodongo's Cavern:
Not much of a problem.

Jabu Jabu:
Way easier than OoT's. I don't have to carry Ruto with me everywhere which is a good thing.

Forest Temple:
Not the least bit diffucult.

Fire Temple:
Easy.

Ice Cavern:
Small puzzle changes but still easy.

Water Temple:
Easy. Nintendo made it was easier than OoT's too.

Well:
Hardest dungeon in Master Quest for me.

Shadow Temple:
Much harder than OoT's but still easy...

Spirit Temple:
Kinda hard I guess.

Ganon's Castle:
They made these even easier than OoT's Trails.

I was extreamly disapointed by Master Quest. Everything felt the same and there were not very many big changes with the dungeons.

Re: Comparing OoT to MQ Dungeons

I agree with you MajorasWrath1, that it was a huge miss of Nintendo to make the Water Temple have this glitch. If anyone doesn't believe me, here is the You-Tube instruction video, if you still don't believe it, try it for yourself, because I did it!!!

YouTube - Legend of Zelda: Master Quest: Skip the water temple

Also, I'm adding a poll to this thread:

Master Quest is:
Easier then OoT
The Same as OoT
Harder than OoT

So everyone please vote.

I pretty much agree with you ZAR, did you especially find that with the Fire temple you had everything you need to defeat the boss, like half way through the actual temple?

Yep. Same thing with the water temple too. Ice Cavern felt really sped up too because all the puzzles got taken out...

That water temple thing is news to me, I've never heard of that before... Kind of ruins the game I think though?

I haven't played through MQ for a very long time, but now that the thread is up I may take a look at it again and just play through it.

Re: Comparing OoT to MQ Dungeons

Is The Well actually considered a dungeon? And The Gravekeeper is actually considered a boss?

That easy way to beat Water Temple is pretty stupid.

Re: Comparing OoT to MQ Dungeons

ZAR

With the Ice Cavern, I felt I was in the room where you push around the blocks too soon after I started. With the Water Temple I think it's stupid not to have a boss for the Longshot, you just have to hookshot the wall. What is that??

Yeah, I completed it quicker than I've taken to complete OoT, by that a mean overall in less than a week, not actually in game play time. What do you mean they made it to hold us over to WW. As far as I know MQ was released with WW, in the special edition, was it actually released beforehand?

It is kinda a cheat, yet also a nintendo failing, and most people not liking the water temple are happy to skip it unless they are going for perfect completion, and when you're Zelda 'nerds' like most people around here, if you don't like it and you've seen it before, why not skip it? It is a cheat, though MQ being harder, there should also be less chance for glitches! I don't get why in the hallway before the boss they added the hookshot poles. They make it easier then OoT, when that was a hard room!!! Not hard, but annoyting. Accross my life I've probaly used more faries there than actually in Morpha.

What constitutes a dungeon is having a dungeon map and a compass, so yes the well is a dungeon. More so in MQ than in OoT anyway. The gravekeeper Dampe, you just race him, so that is not a dungeon, and he isn't a boss because you don't defeat him!
