Is it me or are the zelda games getting easier?

I have beaten all of the ones that have come out so far in America and well, they seem to get easier as time goes on. The first two proved quite a challenge to me then the thirds was just fun and so on. The difficulty hovered around the same, then Wind Waker came out. It was almost too easy, but frustrating because of the Triforce collecting. Next up was Twilight Princess it was TONS of fun, I loved it don't get me wrong. Although I found my self doing things to make it harder the second time through, such as playing without a shield and playing without a mini-map. The first time through I played normally and I beat it in 25 hours and some spare minuets. After another five hours and some spare change I had all heart pieces, golden bugs and Poe souls. So thats a total of 30-30.5 hours and it was totally beaten. Don't get me wrong I do other things I have a girlfriend I exercise, go to school, and well... Play Halo. Don't even get me started on Phantom Hourglass I beat it in one sitting at a friends house, as I don't own a DS. So whats your opinion on this subject, are they getting easier in general or just easier for me?

P.S. Can anyone tell me how to customize the subtitle under my name, the thing that says Deku Scrub?

Yeah, I agree with that. As far as the 3D Zelda's go:

10 - hardest

OoT: 7/10
MM: 10/10
WW: 5/10
TP: 3/10

And you can customize after you get to like Hyrulean Knight or something.

You "Think"?
It's been a fact for a while now. Nintendo isn't what they used to be. Slackers...

I don't really think that the games are getting easier, it's just that as Zelda veterans we come to know what to expect. After you've played a few zelda games everything becomes a little more predictable.

Yea, I was just wondering if every one else was noticing too and thank you for telling me how to change the subtitle. I think Majora's Mask was the best gameplay wise, but Ocarina of Time was best story wise.

No, gamers aren't what they used to be. When LoZ and AoL were released almost everyone was a "hardcore" gamer, these days there are loads of "casual" gamers and Nintendo are aiming their games towards the "casual" gamer. It's the right decision for Nintendo, as there are more casual gamers that own Wii's than there are hardcore gamers.

In my opinion there hasn't been a truly difficult Zelda game since AoL, yet the Zelda games managed to keep a fairly decent level of difficulty until tWW. The only way that Zelda games could reach a decent level of difficulty again, in my opinion, is to implement a difficulty setting because they are never going to make a Zelda game for the hardcore gamer again. Miyamoto even said that "people don't want to play games like Zelda anymore".

The 3D games seem much easyier compared to the handheld, I think thats because it was much harder to make out the puzzles in the 2D games... ermmm hard to explain.

I can agree with this. I started out playing TP first, then I went to OOT. MUCH MUCH harder. I gave up on MM. Too hard. I believe these numbers are accurate.

So what the hell are they going to do about the "hardcore" gamers that still feel like they have hope for a hard and long-lasting Zelda game? They abandoned this for a while, and it lead to people like myself to go into the "Dark Side"/Xbox. Nintendo is just going completely childish there. When was the last decent M game? (Don't think of answering Manhunt 2. I mean as an exclusive)

Re: Is it me or are the zelda games getting easier?

I'd say TP was harder than tWW. In tWW, I actually had to make an effort to die. As in, go and stand right infront of something and let it attack me. Where as, in TP, there was the occasional enemy mob fight that could defeat you (read: Cave of Ordeals, Floor 49, Round 2)

As I said before I think the only way for Nintendo to please both sets of gamers is if they implement a difficulty setting.
Also, in the UK, we have a different rating system, so I don't know what our equivalent of "M" would be...

I didn't mean just difficulty: I ment the longness of the game. Banjo Tooie for N64 took me about 2 years to finish most of it. How about today's? You could easily finish them in the week or so, and give 'em back.
And "M" would be 17+. Some of us aren't kids, you know.

I actually agree. I never really thought of that either. Cause, as far as most games go TP was pretty big in a lot of aspects. I think with TP, they tried to expand to a wider audience.

I don't really see why you're debating this with me. I agree that the majority of Nintendo's games are aimed towards the casual gamer and that games aren't as difficult or long as they used to be. That is just the way it is at the moment, Nintendo will make more profits by aiming their games towards casual gamers, so it is the right thing for them to do.

Re: Is it me or are the zelda games getting easier?

No its not just you, and yes, they are getting easier. I think its cos' with all that stuff about the wii being a family console, they aim at making 'family games' for it rather than the stuff the hardcore gamers want from them. They are loosing some good old fans there, but they know that the 'family' audience is wider than the hardcore gamer one.

I'm currently leaning more towards the dark side and unimpressed by the games Nintendo has been making us. Until Brawl comes to the UK, I'll be on the dark side for a few more months now.
