Does the Twilight Princess beat OoT when it comes to which game has the better music? TP has much higher quality music, being on the Wii (and GC). But OoT is based around a musical instrument. OoT sounds more like Zelda, but TP provides a classical, different video game music experience.
Personally, I like Twilight Princess's music. It really stands out as different. The Hyrule Field music makes it sound like there's an orchestra in the room. And the Midna's Desperation music brings tears to my eyes (because of the style, and the situation in the game at the time). And the Snowpeak Ruins is just plain creepy! What is your opinion? Does TP beat OoT, or does OoT keep the Zelda music throne?

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
This should go on general because it might be biased, but im sure it will be moved. I will have to say ocarina of time has much better music. The music in that game is so catchy and homey tp music is bland and boring. Sites like IGN and Gamespot comment on how the music has been a dissapointment because other Zelda titles have such good music.

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
Woah.. yeah both games certainly have great pieces of music... deciding between both of them is quite impossible for me. Seriously i cannot pick one over the other, i love the music in both games. So its a tie i guess.

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
I'd say I like the music of the TP better since when you're in the fishing pond, there's some nice music and also when you're at the entrance of Yeto's mansion. I still liked how in the OoT when you could warp just by playing songs on the Ocarina. But then again, it's Twilight Princess not the Ocarina of Time.

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
As much as I love the music of Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time has more songs that register emotions. The song Gannondorf plays on the organs up the spiral staircase, the Song of Storms, Gerudo Valley, and many more. Maybe it's because I grew up with that game, where TP was more a novelty for me to beat.

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
The Ocarina of Time music got old after awhile. People don't give Twilight Princess credit where it's due, all because it isn't "orchestrated".

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
I'd say OoT has the stronger soundtrack, but TP, being produced later, had a better soundrtrack. Understand what I'm saying? TP sounds nicer, OoT's is really better for its time.

Midna's Desperate Hour is brilliant, I'll agree. That's just a brilliant part of the game, as a whole - ranks right up there as one of my fondest Zelda moments. Really well done in terms of music ..and intensity, drama and atmosphere. |

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
Ooh boy... I can't decide. Both OOT and TP have really excellent music. Of course... it is rather hard to beat Gerudo Valley... ^_^ I dunno, both games are full of great music. I really couldn't pick one over the other. OOT has the best single song, but they're equal for total song value.

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
This one's hard for me. I think Ocarina produced alot of new original tunes, where Twilight Princess did that also, just not as much, while re-using the same tune over and over.
Something I've recently noticed is that in OOT, the Hyrule Field tune was also re-used for Lake Hylia, Death Mountain Trail, and Zora River whereas Twilight Princess' overworld track was used specifically for Hyrule Field. Places like Zora River, Death Mountain, and Lake Hylia had their own music. That's definatly a plus for Twilight Princess. Another thing that I really appreciated about the Twilight Princess soundtrack was the boss battles. Whenever you would get to the hack and slash part, the music would change to a more heroic theme. I loved that aspect and looked forward to it every time I went to fight a boss. Overall, I think Ocarina of Time had the best soundtrack because of all of the original tunes, and the many songs that inspired future Zelda titles. Twilight Princess, is not far behind though. |

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
Ocarina of Time has to win- like people have said, it was the original game for many songs reused later in the series.
Twilight Princess does a fantastic job of original stuff (Midna's Desperation is gorgeous) and reusing older songs in interesting ways (Rutela's Theme being a remixed Serenade of Water). If Ocarina of Time was orchestrated like Twilight Princess was, it would win hands down. It still wins, though.

Re: TP: Greatest Music?
I'd say there are more songs in OoT that I remember(Song of Time, Song of Storms, etc), but I do really, really enjoy 'Midna's desperate hour' in TP.
And I agree with Adventurer- I absolutely loved it when the music changed when you go the better of a boss. So, both games have pros and cons imo.
