Sheik male or female?

As odd as it might be ive began wondering wether Sheik is a boy or a girl on ocarina of time everyone refers to Sheik as a boy but on super smash bros melee they refer to Sheik as a girl. Help

Sheik is Zelda in disguise.

I see Sheik as a man, despite the spoiler above. The disguise is a man disguise, so that's how I see it. I think the only reason Sheik is referred to as a female in SSBM is because of the spoiler above.

When Zelda transformed into Sheik she went through some magical sex change. This argument can be reinforced by Sheik's physique - which seems and appears male. Also some argue that despite Sheik's Actual Gender, the character is male, and that is what matters.

I wondered that, too. In the Ocarina of Time, Ruto said Sheik was a man but I'm still not sure!

Gods of the Triforce, this has been going on for years.

Sheik was a form that Zelda took during the Seven-Year-War.

Whether it was merely crossdressing or actual protoginy(Changing between genders magically) is anyone's guess.

Technically, Sheik is a man, because (s)he doesn't exist. Sheik is the guise used by Zelda, and the gender of the guise is male. Zelda didn't grow any new parts in becoming Sheik, she's still her, but the disguise itself is male.

I don't see any proof in any game that Sheik is a boy.

Now, nobody can say that for certain. Actual changes in gender are relatively common in Japanese media.
