I don't think Ilia was a love interest for link.
Link and Ilia were childhood friend, link had much affection for ilia but doesn't like her by love and I don't think that there was a possibility in the game that link is really loved midna.he behaved as a friend for her, he just helped midna has to save her kingdom. It is just a friend. Their relationship doesn't have anything romantic. They are only good friends and colleagues of adventures. Like link and navi, taya, the red lion.

moreover I always had weak for the couple link and zelda so I voted that zelda would be appropriate perfectly for link after all what they lived together, they became very close and they are bound by the same destiny.

I voted for Saria if she was able to grow up and wasn't stuck in some sages temple. She seamed to fit with Link but he probably would have marries Malon. I think Zelda is unlikely in most of the games except for WW because Zelda is from a considerably higher class, Link being the Hero of Time does throw him up a few notches.

In TP I would have gone for Midna except he will never meet her again. He would probably marry Ilia I hated her and a Zelda with that would seriously fall on my scales.

I think most of the 2d games don't feature enough depth to have any matches except for Zelda. Overall I think I would change my vote to Malon although all the games should have their own poles for this question.

I voted zelda 'cause zelda's been with link in almost every game

I would like to discuss the possibilities of Link marrying Ruto, the Zoran princess in OoT. They are more likely than you think. Earlier in the game, after you rescue Ruto from Jabu-Jabu, she gives you the Zora's Sapphire, one the 5 keys to the Sacred Realm. However, she only agrees to give it to you after you agree to get engaged with her, becasue her mother told her to give the sapphire as an engagement ring to the boy she likes.

When you are an adult, Ruto becomes the Sage of Water. Their engagement is ended because Sages never marry. However, after you beat Ganon, you become a child again. The Sages only appeared because Ganondorf needed to be sealed. Plus, in TP, which follows after MM, the sequel to Oot, there are different sages. There is no need for the sages after Ganon is defeated. So when Link returns to being a child, he is still engaged to Ruto. Thus leaving the possibility of them marrying each other.

TP isn't a sequel to OOT the story lines are completly different.

So? The storyline of MM and TWW are different from OoT, but they are still sequels.

Well, it's all reasonable to believe that Link returned the Spiritual Stone of Water to the Zora in order to close the Door of Time (as requested by Zelda). This action will thereby end the engagement, as Link no longer has the Engagement Ring as Ruto called it, and is therefore not bonded to Ruto anymore. Besides, Legend of Zelda does not encourage enforced marriage as far as I'm concerned, and Link never did seem to want to marry her.

The way I see it, Ocarina of Time hinted mostly towards him and Zelda. How Majora's Mask followed this with that small cutscene convinced me even more

Hmm, overlooked that detail. Not that I would want Link to marry Ruto, I think he either marries Zelda, some other girl he meets when he truly grows up, or he stays single.

If Nintendo wanted to, they could make a game where Zelda and Link develop a relationship etc etc... just like RPGs.

Same here: given the events and ending of OoT, the cutscene in MM seemed to actually confirm and deepen what I at least had already seen. I can't see any reason why Link would walk away from that forever by choice.

I would certainly like to see that, but I think having several options/paths for the various love interests would be an idea worth merit. If we are truly supposed to be Link, we should be getting the choice about how he feels about people. Both TP and PH definately took that away, IMO. While I share Link's apparent opinion in PH, I most certainly did not with Ilia in TP..and that "broke my link".

The only sequels I know of in Zelda are: TLoZ>AoL, OoT>MM, and WW>PH.

The definition of sequel is a continuation. TP wasn't a continuation of Oot. Just because one game is made after another/ is after one in the timeline, doen't mean it's a sequel.

i cant see link and zelda together cause zelda is a princess after all, and link is almost like a rebel. i honestly couldn't see link living a life of royalty in a castle.

I like the idea of Link and Midna going out, but it would just be...awkward....

here's my theory: Link is attracted to girls whose name ends with "a". Therefore, the only canidates are, Zelda, Tetra, Midna, Ilia, Saria, Telma, and Hena.

Lets analyze this shall we?

Zelda is possible, but it depends which Zelda and Link we're talking about here.

Tetra: maybe. Except Tetra always calls Link a "kid", implying she's older than him

Midna: Impossible, as she's in the Twilight Realm, and she broke the only way into that realm

Ilia: Very possible

Saria: She'll always be a child, so no

Telma: Ew

Hena: ??

Ilia is, IMO, a very good match for Link in TP. I mean, they've known each other for a long time... and I think they look very cute together. <3

Exactly. They both live in the same village, are apparently the same age, and both love Epona. They have lots in common.

I think they're relatively the same age.

Tetra just calls him a kid because she's so much more mature then him. She's got no family left, runs a pirate ship and spends her days exploring the ocean and plundering treasure.

Whereas Link (before TWW at least) is just a kid that lives and goofs around on his tiny island, playing and having fun with his grandma and sister.
