The Romance Thread IV: The Debate Continues

No I meant just social skills in relating to knowledge of royal courtly protocol. And yes Link will have to spend a considerable amount of time in learning those things. But a lot of silly fangirls REALLY think that ruling a kingdom is very easy like in Cinderrella or Prince Valiant. Reality says that the royal lifestyle is NOT so enchanting and magical that Link can just ignore his royal responsibilities and go ride off on Epona whenever he feels like it. But he can't leave the ranch riding on Epona because Malon was mad at him for not sweeping the stables for the very first time in a long time. Go figure on biased double standards huh?

Like I said, I only see Malon getting really angry when he'd be irresponsible - like Talon - which I doubt he would. (Or when he goes off without saying a word - which I doubt as well.)
I know that ruling a kingdom is much work - but since Hyrule is in a time of peace - or should be - I suppose he'd find occasonally the time to go out (he could also say it's for diplomatic reasons and visit Darunia and King Zora/Ruto - they are the leaders of their people, after all.)
He'd also find time when living on the ranch or in the town (well, the town would actually be more convenient, since he can get to the castle faster if ever something happens and Zelda needs his help as quick as possible).
I just think - disregarding any romantic issues - that the castle is the most convenient - he's at Zelda's side most of the time if she needs protection, he can actively help making decisions for the well-being of Hyrule and it's people, he has no additional work to his work at the castle - ranch, a shop in town, whatever else there might be - he's with his wife (and maybe his kids) while doing his hero duties.
(And Link is smart so he'd gett the basics of the protocol pretty quick I think - but of course he'd have to spent some time learning it - but I suppose, considering Links limited knowledge of the Hylian lifestule, he'd have something to learn no matter who he chooses.)

Yeah I agree...I just don't like suggested double standards in which the royal lifestyle is just ceremonial fluffiness with royal balls, parades, festivals, and tender moments in the royal courtyard that will convieniently allow Link to go ride off with Epona whenever he pleases. Its about as unrealistic as claims that there will be insane amounts of farmwork at the ranch and Malon will be super bi*ch and not allow Link to go anywhere with Epona.

I still find it hard to believe that Link will have more free time riding around with Epona while living at the castle than he would at the ranch. Not to mention that Epona is more associated with Malon and the Ranch NOT Zelda and the Castle.

Urgh... So they think ruling a kingdom is no work? ...That's just stupid.
Anyway... Did they ever state what they do with the horses on the ranch? Because I'm wondering if they had to train them themselves...I can't see anyone on the ranch do that. (It totally would be Link's job if he marries Malon.)

I'm just going by ZELINK fanfics and theories of the royal lifestyle that I have previously read in the past that makes it more of a Cinderella/Peter Pan type Zelda Universe. To simplify: A quiet & gentle Link ruling Hyrule as Zelda handles ALL the royal duties to allow Link to go riding around with Epona whenever he feels like it. Kind of how a mother spoils a brat IMO. But if teeny bobber fangirls are allowed to believe what they want to believe, then I can believe in MY LinkxMalon theory. To each his/her own

But when Dark Link/Link would act nice instead of attacking... i'm not sure what Dark Link would do, since he's still a monster created to get rid of Link, but Link probably wouldn't attack until Dark Link decides to attack. He'd still be wary of him - he'd be stupid if he weren't - but I don't see him starting a fight if Dark Link doesn't give him a reason to.
In case this carrys on for an extended period of time, maybe they could become friends - but only if Dark Link doesn't show any signs of being eveil, which I doubt would be the case, considering what he is.

Ew! So poor Zelda has to take care of everything just so Link can do whatever he wants? That's digusting. If Link chooses Zelda, he has to take responsibility and help handling the royal duties.

Ah? It's been a while since I played the game... So you have to attack first to start the fight?
But even so, you just reminded me of another point - Dark Link has no personality whatsoever. Even less than the normal enemies. The only thing that makes him special is his abbility to mirror Link's movements and to take on a shape vaguely resembling Link's.
Is OoT Dark Link even something Link-only? Or does he just mirror whoever comes into his room?
