New zelda weapons
okay, here we try to put ideas of what could be new weapons or upgrades that would be useful in later zelda games.
My idea? the metal cutter! (Aka boomerang upgrade. cost: 1000 rupees) this weapon will now do decent damage to enemies and now you can throw 3 at once! note: can be upgraded even further into large cutter boomerang. does multiple hits, and is MUCH LARGER.

Re: New zelda weapons
I can think of 2:
1.) How about a sword that can detach into twin blades and reattach back into one sword. 2.) One or more swords with an elemental attribute like the fire, ice, and light arrows. |

Re: New zelda weapons
so, is that an upgrade, or an actual weapon? XD
just kidding... those are some pretty good ideas! Further proving craig's theory: Fire+sword= BETTER WEAPON

Re: New zelda weapons
Unless fighting fire-based enemies.
But yes, interchangeable elements sound rather good for a sword, but may render arrows with similar attributes obsolete. I feel Nintendo is having problems thinking of new weapons, Hawkeye and Arrow combo anyone? Although underwater bombs were fun. Ranged-attack swords a la. Fierce Deity were fun but may make the game too easy, what about some new spells as seen in OoT? Maybe some new ideas on those would be cool. Sorry for drawing a bit of a blank, it's harder than I thought :p Although two swords sounds good, perhaps make them smaller and lighter than a standard sword.

Re: New zelda weapons
There are a few threads like this. One got locked because of this.
Here's my idea form said thread: Heat-seeking clawshot. With a little magic it can seek out the nearest enemy and pull it towards you. Doesn't work on Mini-Bosses or Bosses. Description: A retractable claw that can pull normal enemies towards you (6 MP).

Re: New zelda weapons
Now that you mention spells, jaymz, has there ever been a healing spell, if not how about it? Having a healing spell may come in handy if you don't have any fairies left.

Re: New zelda weapons
See, heat-seeking sounds a little modern for me, maybe not to the extent of the Cross-hair in the hawkeye (Shudder), and maybe with a 'magic' explanation it could pass off. However why make it heat seeking at the expense of MP when a normal clawshot does the same thing? Unless enemies are lurking around corners, then how would you know they are there?
And Jac06, I can't off the top of my head think of a healing spell in Zelda, although I can't help think that there may have been something similar.. or maybe I think of Fable. Either way, that's not a bad idea.

Edit: Jac06, yes it was a sidequest item. After you do part of the trading sequence, talk to Zunari and he will give it to you. I personally never use it, I just get it to get it (like the Magic Armor in TP).

Re: New zelda weapons
Spell Runes: These Runes can be attached to offensive weapons to add elements and such. THEY TAKE MAGIC POWER THOUGH!!! Thay can be switched on and off on the fly.
-Fire Rune: Duh. -Ice Rune: ^See above. -Light Rune: Takes major magic, but makes one hit KO's. -Lightning Rune: Stuns. -Wave Rune: Depending on what type of item it is, it sends off some sort of power wave. EXAPLES: Sword; sword beams from 2D games. Arrows; send off a little blast of energy when they hit. Hammer; big shock wave. Goddess Runes: Same as Spell Runes, but they don't take magic power. -Din's Rune: You loose a little health when you use it, but it's much stronger. -Farore's Rune: The more damage you deal with it without getting hit, the higher you attack goes. -Nayru's Rune: Weakens the item, but you gain health for every enemy you kill with it. (NOTE: You have to deal ALL the damage with it. You can't just deal the final blow)
