Best Zelda game to start out with

If you were to introduce someone to the LoZ games, what game would you recomend for them to get first? In other words, whats the best one to start out with?

I would say LttP myself, although I started with OoA. I borrowed it from a friend back before I knew what Zelda was. I never did finish it, but I had a lot of fun. LttP was both the first Zelda game I owned and beat.

Edit: I didn't have room for FSA...

Ocarina of Time. It fully explains the origins of the characters, the Triforce/Goddesses, and pretty much everything else you need to know. It also has arguably the best dungeons, and has probably the most epic story in the series. I should also point out that Ocarina of Time is probably the most "perfect" game in the series because you don't have any big flaws like tedious sailing or crappy gimmicks.

I'd also recommend A Link to the Past since that is obviously where Ocarina of Time got most of its motivation from.

I'd have to say OoT because it was the first 3D titles, but as for any 2D titles I'd have to say one of the Oracle games.

Re: Best Zelda game to start out with

I started off with MM,but I think someone new to the series should maybe play the first Zelda game. Its "the game that launched the legend" after all!
Or maybe OoT,some find it hard to enjoy 2 D games and OoT was the first 3 D Zelda .Plus I think it was really good - it pretty much gives out the overall "Zelda game" feel.

I chose LttP for a similer reason. LttP shows the origin of just about everything, gameplay wise (not the origional top down dungeon crawling-ness. That was LoZ).

OoT, definately.
And good thing is, that's the very game I DID start out with. Convenient, eh?

LttP. Probably the most friendly looking and easy to understand game. I started with AoL back in the day, then LoZ obviously, but LttP left me hooked. Has more structure than the first two, and probably the best overall experience. OoT is good, too, but I'll stick with LttP.

I Would Say ALttP Not Only Cause its my Favorite but Also Because It Gets you Used to the 'Feel' of the Zelda Universe with the Triforce, Master Sword Gannon...

Ocarina of Time doesn't allow you to refuse to finish the Zelda series.

Re: Best Zelda game to start out with

I'd introduce someone to the series with the original LoZ. I'd let them play that and really get a feel for the sense of exploration and adventure. I would then explain to them that these great traits can be found throughout the entire series and let them make up their own mind as to which game they wanted to play next.

probably oot, I think it has the best exploration without all the sailing and stuff. And after all, it is the best game ever created.

Re: Best Zelda game to start out with

Oh, interesting question. OoT was my first, so I suppose I'm a bit biased in voting for it. It has the characters that I fell in love with, and the feeling of being a little boy going out to save the world that drew me into the series originally. The story is somewhat cheesy, but it has such heart in it that you get absorbed in it anyway. The atmosphere in OoT is easy to fall in love with.

LoZ is an awesome game, and the gameplay is quite addictive, but I don't know if I'd choose it as an introduction to Zelda. ALttP is a better representative of the series. And LoZ lacked the characters and settings that really got me hooked on the series. For straight gameplay, though, it's a solid choice.

Yet, TP bores the crud out of me to the point I can't force myself to finish, and I've beaten OoT too many times. In fact, TP is the only Zelda I haven't finished.

I'd go with LoZ, simply because that's what I started out with forever ago.

I agree with you on TP...I would definitley start out with Oot. It has arguably the best storyline and just lots of great things come from it. The windwaker is an excellent game to play though. For some reason Im really starting to appreciate it a lot more than i used to.
