Hylian or Hyrulian?

Hylian or Hyrulian? which is it? I'm confused about this.

They're two very different things.

A Hylian is a member of the Hylian race. They have pointed ears, have usually fair hair, and can do magic. Zelda and Link are members of the Hylian race.

A Hyrulian (an alternative spelling is Hyrulean) is anyone would calls Hyrule home, be they Hylian, Goron, or Zora.

Oh I voted hyrulian on accident. I believe I have only seen it as hylian?

Should be Hylian for the race. And about the Gorons and Zoras, I believe you still call them Hylian Zoras, as they come from there. :/

I think you'd call them Hyrulean Zora, because Hylian refers to the Hylia, not the country of Hyrule. There are Hylians in different countries than Hyrule, like Calatia.

I've always thought of it like this: Hyrulian refers to the actual land of Hyrule, like geography, landmarks, and junk, and Hylian as the ethnic name of the people that inhabit Hyrule, and the name of their language.

Example:

"The house is made on the style of Hyrulian architecture."

"Link is a Hylian"

"I speak fluent Hylian."

Hylian: - Pointy eared, slightly magic people. (Not to be confused with Humans, normal ears, no magic)
Hyrulian: - things that live in hyrule.

i fully agree with you the hyrulean are the people who live in hyrule
and Hylian are the people with as he sais pointy ears (magic??)

yeah thats pretty much what it is... all the races combined can be called hyrulian becuase they live in hyrule, but only the human-looking ones are called hylians (they are identified by their pointed ears and their abilitiy to use a bit of magic) so i guess thats the difference between hyrulian and hylian

Hylian is particularly the race itself.
Hyruleans...are...I don't know. But I'm sure about the fact the Hylians are the human race

The term "Hylian" generally refers to a member of the Hylian race, as opposed to "Hyrulean", which refers to any inhabitant of Hyrule.
According to the origina A Link to the Past instruction manual, Hylians were born with magic-infused blood, endowing them with psychic powers and skill in wizardry, while according to the Japanese manual, these powers are gifts from the gods. The manuals also claim that the Hylians' long, pointed ears allow them to hear messages from the gods..

I don't think they've ever mentioned the race Hyrulian ever. It is definetaly hylian

Hmm interesting. I like the idea of Hylian being pointy eared people and Hyrulian being something else that lives in Hyrule. When I made this screen name I found out later that Hylian was used more often and mad... but now I see that I'm just not a pointy eared thing, but another creature ^_^;

It's not something else that lives in Hyrule. Hyrulean is the nationality. There are Hyrulean Hylians. There are also Calatian Hylians.

A Hylian is what Link is. A Hyrulian or Hyrulean are what you call people in Hyrule. So, if you are a Zora in Hyrule, you'd also be called a Hyrulian. If you're in castle and are a human, you are a Hylian.
