Re: Im confused about the kokiri.
i guess i can see some similarities in that. but i wonder what those dumb children did to turn into wood lol. according to the legend at the begging of ww, its common sence to say that in between oot, that was centuries in difference.

Re: Im confused about the kokiri.
And add-in to this discussion..
(oh and by the way, I don't know about the growing up thing) How come at the beginning of Oot the Kokiri said they can't leave the forest or they'll die, and then at the end of the game they're at Lon Lon ranch? Also, when they said that Ganondorf hasn't taken reign so don't say that they could go out because Ganondorf was defeated... Anyway, there you go!

Re: Im confused about the kokiri.
Its not that they cant leave its that they dont. During the Time of OoT, a great evil is lurking about. My guess is that the Kokiri are a peaceful race, almost pacifist. But they will fight... evidence that suggest this are the Kokiri Sword, the training ground, and the Deku Shield.
In the forest the Great Deku tree can protect them, once they leave the forest they are out of his reach. So when they leave they are on their own to defend themselfs. So they simply choose to stay in the forest, even though they are free at anytime to leave. Also the Koroks are not the exact same Kokiri from OoT... Simple reason is because they have different names. But yes, they are Kokiri we see in OoT, probably a different generation. As for being immortal. They can die and be injured. If not then what would they have to fear about being attacked by the Deku Scrubs and such.(go to Kokiri forest before you defeat the Forest Temple) My guess is that they either have a very long life, or they live until they are killed.

Re: Im confused about the kokiri.
in the comic books when links is needed to go inside the deku tree he is only equiped with the sling shot. he also goes inside with mido who has the kokiri sword. mido gets scared link shoots ghoma with a seed mido finishes her. link makes a sheld out of deku trees remains because he said he wanted to protect link. if you want to read it your self go to zelda infinate. but i did see some simularties on the korks

Re: Im confused about the kokiri.
If you're looking for information on anything zelda, the comic are not the way to go mate. They aren't canon.
Quote:
They reason they will start to die is because they will no longer be under the protection of the deku tree and its magic. Another literal interpretation would be that they would not be able to survive the hardships outside of the forest.

Re: Im confused about the kokiri.
I sorta like to think of the Kokiris like the tree (bobble-head) spirits shown in Princess Mononoke. If the trees die, the Kokiri die. Of course, this is just my own guess as to how they seem to live forever (but it doesn't mean that it's a Zelda fact). Trees can live up to hundreds of years (very few has lived up to thousands) so I can see why Kokiri can be seen as immortal (because humans wouldn't be able to live long enough to see one Kokiri be born and die).
Why the change into Koroks? The Deku Tree changed them to a form so it would make it easier for them to travel. In a world consumed by ocean, it's hard for any very large forrest to strive (and Hyrule was full of them), so the Deku Tree changed his children into "seedling-like" children that could easily waft in the wind. -BGS

Re: Im confused about the kokiri.
they would have needed some sort of magical force for them to mutate over time in the korks. i would not think that they are imortal, but just that they have to be children for all their live. I would think that they are like elfs or hylian or somthin like that in order to live hundreds or thousands of years old.
