Ganondorf's Sword?

So, for anyone who's played SSBM, you'd notice that Ganondorf will swing a sword around at the end of a match sometimes. Although the swords not usable in the game(unless you use an action replay), where exactlty did this sword come from? Was it just used for SSBM, or perhaps is it to be used in future zelda games? Please discuss.

p.s. sorry if this is in the wrong thread, since it does involve a game out of the zelda series, but it involves zelda characters...

Well seeing as he uses Swords in both WW and TP, its safe to say that he does infact, own a sword(s)

Personally, I'd put this thread in General Gaming.

I of course have noticed the sword. Does it do anything besides give Ganondorf extra range when you use an AR code to get it?

I have never seen that sword before or since, and have no idea where the SSBM makers came up with it. It does look col.

It was in the beta version I believe. But they took it out because it was too complicated to create a whole new moveset. Something like that.

But I knew it was in a previous version of Melee

I for one have action replay, and can tell you, he can hold the sword, but never use it. It does not increase range, it just sits in his hand. The sword is cool though, great idea.

You can actually use the sword to fight with, using a long code that takes forever to punch in but I have done it. There's nothing special about it, it acts as basically the Beam Sword but longer. Cool lookin though.

And I suppose thsi thread could go into General Gaming but I'm trying to figure out where this sword came from... I haven't actually finished TP or WW so I wouldn't know if he used a sword in those games...

What is the code in, U.S., U.K., or Japan version. U.S version is a 1.2 code, U.K.- 1.1, and Japanese is a 1.0, 0.1, 0.2 code. If it is a U.S code please tell me the code. I would like to use the sword.

And I've seen that video before, maybe Ganondorf was going to use it in TP or somethin way back in early devolpment...

The video that Janus linked was a tech demo from Spaceworld 2000 that was used to show off the GC's graphical capabilities before it's release. It was never intended to be a real game, but people took it as such.

When the Wind Waker was finally revealed as the first GC Zelda game, people were expecting a game that looked like that video. Whence the extreme anger about the celshading.

Where does that come from though? Why use that sword? The sword in TP is explainable and his trident in other games. What about this though?

It all makes sense now....

I always wondered where that sword was from. A friend claimed it was from OoT but he never used it in battle (unless you count the ones in the Ganon battle) and he never had it in a cutscene.

I think they just added it for the game just like Star Fox never had a laser gun in any games before SSBM's release (at least that I recall, correct me if I'm wrong) and basically every character had added things to them that weren't moves or items from previous games.

I could have sworn there was Star Fox 64 official art of Fox McCloud with a blaster. Maybe I'll look for it sometime.

Ganondorf's sword I think looks cooler in TP then in SSBM. It's orange glow and detailed hilt are amazing.

I SSBM and I see the sword.
Why he dont use it in a battle or a game?
