Zelda and Sony
Did you know that Sony and Nintendo once worked together? And that there were 3 Zelda games launched to a non-Nintendo console? Well, if you didn't know that, dont't worry, that's normal. But about the 3D Zeldas of Nintendo 64(Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask) you remember, don't you? All of this here, at the third part of our retrospective!

Re: Zelda and Sony
Ah, yes, that was right before the CD-i. Nintendo and Sony were going to work together before they seperated, and Nintendo partnered with Phillips instead, and the CD-i games came out...Sony then went on to create the original Playstation...Kinda makes you wonder, dosen't it?

Re: Zelda and Sony
Blue Knight hit the nail on the head...sorta.
Nintendo was working on a CD add-on for the SNES, and they partnered with Sony to make it. Eventually, Nintendo dropped the contract with Sony, and partnered with Phillips. After a while, the project was dropped altogether, and then Phillips went on and made the CD-I. |

Re: Zelda and Sony
this was before nintendo and sony became rivals, nintendo turned to philips behind sony's back, then nintendo dropped the contract, sony got pissed and made the PS1, then nintendo probably got guilty because philips tanked with the CD-I, thats all true and that's how sony and nintendo became rivals.

Re: Zelda and Sony
Yes, the CD-I games are what became of this. It became this.
Its not worth really getting it now... you can if you are a hardcore Zelda fan, but they kinda suck. In one (forget which) you kill Ganon by throwing a book at him... thats just the tip. It had voice acting as well, with little cartoony scenes. Toke place in Hyrule and Wand of Gamelon was in Koridai. (sp?)

Re: Zelda and Sony
What's weird about this whole thing is that if Nintendo didn't drop Sony, we'd be playing the Nintendo Playstation. If you ever saw the show "Game Makers" on G4TV, originally called "Icons" when "Icons" was about games and people instead of just people, you would see that information. I don't know if you can find those episodes on youtube. I think it was said on both Nintendo and Legend of Zelda episodes.

Re: Zelda and Sony
Well of course they worked together even before that all the video game companies you see today are rooted from Atari but the had a big debate and made their separate groups even before what this thread is about. Thats how it all became...from Atari...I learned that from a friend watching the History Channel...Some interesting stuff there.
