The Romance Thread III - Love Makes the World Go 'Round

We've got a new game and two new romance-worthy characters, so we need a new poll.

Just continue the discussion from the second thread in here.

In this intellectual discussion, we shall all talk about love- more specifically, love concerning our hero, Link. In other words, the shippers will scream at each other back and forth, and the mods will delete post upon post.
And furthermore, one member will soundly pwn another's idea, only for the pwned idea to be repeated by some random newcomer. Such is the way of a stickied thread.

Post on, ZUers! What woman (or man or thing) goes best with Link? Or, should you feel that a romance would somehow tarnish his character, then make your case!

Midna should be with Link, because you can actually see Link cares for her. You don't see that with anyone else, or do you?

They were childhood friends and they both wear green clothes. She is the sage of the forest and does not dress all 'skankily' like some of the others.

Who cares? What if Midna was from the same world as Link, and the whole story was the same? I still think they would make a match.

I think Ilia is the best choice for Link. They make such a good couple together. They already care a lot for each other since they were good friends and that's always good in a relationship.

Ilia probably since they've known eachother probably all their lives. Saria would be good too, except she's a sage.

Ilia was so mean to Link. She stole Epona from him and scolded him for being 'reckless'.
Saria and him always got along.

I don't know about Ilia for Link. Maybe if he hadn't left Ordon at all, then she would have been good for him, but after he (supposedly) came back, I would think he would just be settling for her. I mean, he loved Midna! Why would you settle for a peasant girl when you could have Midna?

Ah. But sometimes being nice to one another doesn't make a good couple. There will always be agruements.

Yeah. Zelda. TP may not have been her best game, but after Link's big adventure, I doubt he'll be returning to Ordon to be a ranch hand and settle down with Ilia. If he wasn't the "chosen hero" I can see him living out his days obliviously with Ilia, but fate had bigger plans in mind. And if Ilia scolds him for being reckless...no way she'd be cool with his new death-defying lifestyle. Midna is gone, so that leaves Zelda.
other games? Zelda. There is ample evidence of her and Link's feelings in OoT most notably. And he clearly "had a moment" remembering her in MM.

I stick with the Zelda x Link couple, it's just classic!! And they really look cute together! And well... I just stick with that idea x3

Zelda! Though it may not be for TP Link, although it seems likely now from what I've heard, I say Zelda for these games right now:

OoT because they just look so darn cute together in that game! Plus, Link gets more emotional when Zelda is kidnapped and that means he feels something for her. It may be love, it may only be like, but still, it has a chance of developing into a real relationship between the two. We can also safely assume that Zelda also feels something for Link because of the way she looked sad in the sky scene. She apparently didn't want to have to send him back home. But she had to, so she did it. And I won't even talk about when their hands touch for a minute or two. They enjoyed that moment, and it looks to me like they really do feel something for each other, be it like or love.

TP because once again, they look cute together. Sure, Zelda may be a bit older, but hey that doesn't matter. I'm two years older than my boyfriend and yet we've been together for three fourths of a year. Anyway, they make a nice couple, even if they didn't meet much in TP. They could still get to know each other better after TP.

TMC because Link and Zelda were childhood friends, plus they went to the Picori Festival together and that can be considered a childhood date. So yeah, it makes sense for them to be together in TMC as well.

And TWW because Link and Tetra apparently feel something for each other. And we all know that Tetra is Zelda so yeah. Link blushed when Beedle asked if he was aquainted with that "cute little pirate girl." Another thing, Medli is out because apparently Komali wants her so, we should leave Medli to him. It'd be rather unfair if Link got her when both Komali and Medli are the same race and Link isn't.

And one more thing, if OoT Link didn't get Zelda, my second choice would be Romani in MM.

Zelda all the way! He may care for Ilia, but face it guys she is "just" a Hyrulian, Link needs to be with a Hylian to carry on the proud Hylian Bloodline.. ergo: Zelda!

I hardly think Link is the sort of person who would turn Illia away for something like blood. Can you see Link doing that?

I just don't see the TP Link x Zelda pairing. I don't see where people are pulling it from ._. LoZ and AoL, yeah, of course. LTTP and LA, I could see it (though I support someone else). OoT it seems quite possible, as it does in Windwaker. But in TP... they just don't interact with each other hardly at all. :/

I think he should pick all of them!
Nah, maybe not (or maybe he should).
For every female, I looked their good and bad sides and... I'd say... Ilia.
What, Link and Ilia knew each other since their childhood (in TP of course). Unlike Saria, she grows...

I actually fully agree with you there. XD I was talking about the same thing in the previous thread. But the thing is, the fact that the relationship would have to happen almost entirely after the game makes it terribly unlikely... only a step above the chances he'd have with... say Ashei or Telma or something. ._.

Zelda is the one for Link. They've been through a lot together, even in different lives. And they show affection for eachother in every game except for TP. So Zelda.

.Actually, Zelda wasn't depicted as a love interest for Link at all, and Link didn't emote to her either.

Is there any proof of the "attraction" in Twilight Princess between Zelda and Link?
Of course- there isn't any.
They share only mutual respect.
Zelda respects Link and thanks him for his efforts in the final battle where, upon retrieving Light arrows, she bows to Link.
This is a formal gesture, nothing romantic or colloquial at all.
And, in case no-one noticed; Midna seemed far, far more upset when Zelda dissapeared after healing her than Link.

Link reacts to Zelda like he would another human being, simple as that. He does not act out of romantic feeling.

The romance in Twilight Princess is that of Link and Midna.

They're both always exchanging glances at eachother - Link cradles her after she uses the fused shadows to dispel the Hyrule Castle Barrier, and she [Midna] leans her body on Link after he defetas the Dark Beast, Ganon.

She's also shown petting and tending to Wolf Link affectionately after Zant curses him for trying to leap up and attack him after collecting the third fused Shadow in the Lanayru Spring.

Then of course, we see how Link reacts to both Midna's death (as Ganondrof crushes her helmet) and her ressurection (where he runs for her).
Midna sheds a tear for Link in her 'almost confession' where she begins "I..." but never finishes her sentance.
Link looks on distraught as Midna is taken back to the Twilight.

The Romance here is Midna and Link - Zelda is hardly involved in the game at all.
I believe that all people that say the romance is Link and Zelda in TP are simply blinded by ignorance.

Malon, sence, in TP, Link is a ranch hand, and so is Malon (this is not saying that Malon is in TP).
