Has anyone noticed that there are some strange flaws in the 3D Zelda games? Like if you stand next to a wall and angle the camera right then you can see right through the wall. All you can see though, is the sky. I've played many other 3D games, (who hasn't) and have never seen this flaw before! Personally, I think they're cool. Maybe someone did it on purpose. If so I'd like to know why.

Re: 3D Flaws
Flaws liek this in early 3-D games were very common. Remember, it was their first time. There's bound to be some glitches/flaws.

Re: 3D Flaws
Think like this:
You're working on an animation in a computer class... you don't know too much about 3d graphics and how they work. What is your project going to come out like? This is the same basis behind N64 and PSX games. New technology, new graphics, new issues to deal with.

Re: 3D Flaws
This is because the floor and everything you move on is one large 3D model, if you move the camera around and through the wall the game engine will load the default background which is usually the sky (or wierd smoke if you are in the graveyard in OoT) Certain games have very strict collision detection between the camera and the world but this leads to annoying camera problems where you can't look around when in a tight hallway.

Re: 3D Flaws
It isn't that easy to do as I've said before. sometimes there are portions of code that force push the character and the camera to a certain location (no physics, just code that moves the character), this effect skips collision detection and sometimes causes camera flaws.

I think the Zelda team did great because it is not often this glitch happens by itself, even though you can make it happen pretty much all the time - anywhere.

It still happens in super modern games as well. I've seen some CS games do the same thing, and they're on the most modern hardware you can get. It's just something that happens with 3D as you've got to consider the framework behind these games. They're just wire frames with padding on them. I'm not surprised that the cameras break the walls sometimes. It's better that than it being jumpy and hitting the side repeatedly. For a game that's awful for breaking the mould of the world it is in, play Goemon on the N64.

Re: 3D Flaws
Yeah, I mean, this is not an uncommon problem among 3D games. Yes, back in the N64 days, it was a lot more common, but I can even see the game wall in recent games today, if I angle the camera correctly. Of course, game developers have gotten a lot better at hiding this glitch, it is still there and would be really hard to fix. (I don't blame them!) Because it would cause a lot of camera glitching in return. Anyway, Zelda is not the only game that does this, of the N64 games DK64 and Shadows of the Empire are examples to where you can really see through the walls. But hey, it's really not a bad thing, there are a lot worse glitches out there, trust me.
