Lizalfos debate

I was wondering if about the whole "Are Lizalfos smart" thing. Many fans of Zelda seem to claim they aren't but some think they are. While Lizalfos use weapons and wear armor, they also seem to have no Known culture. In WindWaker They stand guard in some temples in multiple places and always work in groups... However Stalfos seem to be able to work like that too.

Well anyways what are your opinions?

Re: Lizalfos debate

Yeah sure I do think they are rather intelligent, but based on their lack of involvment in the game (they only appear in a couple games and only in a few places) no one can really say for sure how smart they are. Do they have a culture, a language, homes, even? No one really knows, because we haven't seen them in their natural habitat, unlike Gorons, Zoras or even Deku Scrubs. So because of the lack of real evidence, for now all we can do is speculate.

Re: Lizalfos debate

Seem like they aren't too smart to me. They might have a "language" of some sort. They are an enemy, and how often do you get in coversations with your enemy anyway? So you can't tell if they can speak or not. But they can make noises. Deku Scrubs are the only enemyish thing I can think of that would have any reasonably high intelligence.

Re: Lizalfos debate

The Lizalfos in Twilight Princess are surely fairly advanced when compared to other creatures that we've seen across Hyrule. First off, they've got a society that's centered on war. Well, maybe not "war" to the extent of actual war, but I'm sure you get the idea. Second, they seem to be able to forge their own weapons. Do you really think that Hylian smithies would make a machete for one of those things? Hell, I don't think they'd even fit through the door. Third, they've taken great advantage of their tail in combat. By fastening axe blades to either side of their tale, they gain a very powerful weapon. Fourth, they have some sense of decency. See that loincloth? They obviously know that Hylians don't want to see what those cloths are covering.

Re: Lizalfos debate

I believe they are smart, since they wield weapons. I don't remeber is Lizo/Dinofos wear armor. I would say they are somewhere between animals that use toold to obtain food and creatures with towns and cultural beliefs.

Master of ALttP posted right before I finished mine, and I go along with what he says.

Re: Lizalfos debate

Maybe in TP, they will have more of a plot involving Lizarfos. They are kind of like Velociraptors in the way of their bipedal asbilities, pointy snouts, and carniverous appetites. And taken the knowledge gained upon Jurassic Park, Velociraptors are indeed intelligent. I haven't looked at one close enough to see if they have an opposable claw on their foot. Can someone post a screenshot of the OoT Lizarfos, MM Lizarfos, and TP Lizarfos? I am eager to see where this thread goes. BTW, aren't they kind of like Dinofos?

one: All evil creatures that attack Link were created by black magic, wrap your mind around that and youll realize they have none
two:Lizalfos wernt in WindWaker, your possibly thinking of Stalfos or Darknuts, I dont know.

A Dinofos is basically a bigger version of Dinofos. Like Stalchild and Stalfos.

Every creature with a motive to kill has to have an intelligence in order to have a motive to kill.

Re: Lizalfos debate

I believe that those are Lizalfos. I had to look quickly. You can also see some in the first trailer, right in the beginning I think. And also when there are some enemies marching over that hill on the plain, there are some lizalfos in there.

Re: Lizalfos debate

Ok they COULD have brains created by magic too, but Most of the time they wouldnt exactly need a proficiant one to kill stuff.

They used to be about the most balanced of the dangerous fighters, but I think Lizofos have them beat this time. Unless that means Stalfos have some new tricks that make them worse. a shield bash move, and sword beams like in the second quest in the original game perhaps?

You're wrong on that one too, babe. Take a different Hyrule animal say deku shrubs. They are intelligent and they too kill. They also made their own armor (concluding from the picture of a Lizarfos helmet). So they are quite intelligent.

Re: Lizalfos debate

Lizalfos are smart for these reasons. They were clothes and armor, they can make and use weapons, and that they strategically jump over you when fighting. That's the most best fact. They have a battle strategy. Run, jump, slash, repeat.
