I figured that I never have made one of "these" kind of threads which implies making a choice on things so here I am posting one. lol.
WARNING: NO THEORISING INVOLVED Which Hero do you think had it the toughest and the roughest??? Here are the heroes titles if any of you forget: OoT & MM - Hero of Time WW - The Hero of Winds TMC - The Minish Hero (Not Official - Do NOT choose the Hero of Men because we have not seen him in a game yet!) FS - N/A FSA - Hero of Light (Not Official) ALttP & LA - The Legendary Hero OoS/OoA - Hero of Seasons & Ages LoZ & AoL - Hero of Origins - (Not Official - Ask vacumgod...? )Note: Please dont choose the Hero of Men or the hero from TP or PH. That would not be a just choice, but I don't think I have to remind anyone of that common since. (Yet I just did! :XD ) But anyway here is who I feel had it the toughest. I believe the Hero of Time had the darkest fate passed on to him. How torminting it must be to be the first hero. Having to be strucken by haunting knightmares of the future and having to travel through time. I can imagin how the emotinal toal is taken on a child that must grow up so fast and then have to deal with the fast mental and phsycical change that jerks him through time and back. You would think Link would go insane and kill himself if he had lost purpose in his mission as the first hero to stop Ganon woudn't you? And even when the Hero of Time is done with his quest and he is all grown up, he has to be sent back to a time as a child. How iritating does that seem. Maybe Link wanted that but it seems that Zelda found it best that he should endure that hell as well one last final time. But that is not all! When Link decides to move on with his life he ends up getting high-jacked from his horse minding his own and ends up on some misfortuned quest in another world. Now he has to put up with morphing into other painful forms of beings that he has to get use to and then has to put up with seing the same faces day in and day out ding the same exact thing over and over again, everytime he has to go back in time, on the breach of death no less. The repetativeness must be madning!!! I hope that the Hero of Time had a good ending somewhere in his life because it seems he had to put up with a hell of a lot more painful trials, physically, emotionally, and socially. My conclusion is that the Hero of Time is more of a man than any other Hero. Now as for the future games to come, my view may change. But one quick side note. I do not feel that the Hero of Winds had it tougher than the Hero of Time for the mere fact that he had a "father figure" ,so to speak, throughout his quest to guide him through his trials. In the Hero of Time's case, Navi was annoying and more direct to business and Tatle was just rude and abnoxious. So that said, The Hero of Time had a cold and bitter trail to follow and on top of that he had to put up with two annoying fairies. So you get my point. Good. Ok. There. I'm done. Period. ~ LOZ H ~ Last edited by LOZ Historian; 10-08-2006 at 07:39 PM. |

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
I don't feel like making a really long post.
I think that it could be the Hero of Time or it might also be the ALttP hero. His uncle died right in front of him and he was forced to pick up the sword right then and there. Not really a true argument; just a comment.

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
I agree with NightWing, about the Legendary Hero watching his Uncle die right there and not being able to mourn him...but even still, the Hero of Time had not only the darkest fate but also the darkest journey, and was forced to experience the darkest world (the Adult Hyrule).
So I'd go with the Hero of Time. |

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
Hmmm...
I'd say Hero of Time had it the hardest, despite his freaking several year nap. Simply because it must have been hard for him having to deal with all the attention he was getting because of his sexy body. xDDDD Oh, and you know, fighting the King of Evil and trying to stop the moon from destroying Termina in three days. Both those points are just minor, though. |

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
The Hero of Time just barely. He was raised by a tree for god sakes, but it did help him in ways. HoT had friends and tangible things like a home, a horse, and a cow, but he had other things really rough. His world was so much bigger and spread out and he had to battle against so much more than all the others. Nine dungeons in one game is a lot, and it's spread out over time throwning a 10 year old boy in a post puberty body. Then, at the end he was sent back in time like it didn't happen and cast off to lead a normal life. After that he is sent into an alternate dimension where he is forced to relive the same three days hundreds of times over. He talks to the same people saying the same things forced to complete a quest only to know that soon it will be undone and he has only a mask as evidence to himself. He can't help the girl save her ranch or the woman save her eggs every time. His journey is physically and psycologically taxing to an obscene amount.
Now that I think about it, none of the others come close, all of the others at least have a memory of family or a relative, the HoT has one story that he finds out as an adult. |

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
In my opinion the Hero of origins had it tough, expecially in LoZ. At least all of the other heroes had towns to go to. (This is also true for the Hero of origins in a later time. But isin't it grueling running around through a deserted monster filled land, with limited supply of items and nothing more than old cave dwelling troglodytes to provide any source of human contact?

But in all seriousness I think the the HoT in MM had it the hardest, only 3 days to save a land, and constantly having to morph into different shapes (it looks painful too me). |

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
the Hero of Time had it hardest.
His mother died and he doesn't know anything about his father. The Korkiri didn't like him at all, except for Saria who had to be a Sage and left. He had tough dungeons to go through and was always being attacked. He would make a friend and it turns out they had to leave. He saw what Ganondorf did to Hyrule, which was terrible. He had to fight Ganon, who wants to smell a pig? In MM he had to keep going through time, almost everything he did got erased. It was the same 3 days. He was forced into a Deku and it looked like whenever he put on a mask he was screaming in pain....or power. So Hero of Time.

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
The hero of time, man. he lost his childhood due to the master sword thing, then he goes out of his world into Termina and all that. He had to see his friends dying. he had to carry on his back the fact he helped gannondorf stealing the triforce.

Couldn't have put it better myself, mate! The HoT really had a hard time in OoT. He is suddenly set to save Hyrule from a man wich he has never heard about, nor seen. He leaves his home, all of his friends and his memories to destroy this evil. When he has finally defeated it, he is sent back to his original time, with all of his friends turned into Sages or just gone away. Navi leaves him, so he's set all alone. The HoT has the hardest time comparing to all of the other Links.

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
HoT, for me. It must have been terrible for him to enter future Hyrule, to see the land he set out to save ruined by a tyrant that had been given the power to do so by his own action.
I think he had it bad in MM as well, though it was probably worst during the first cycle. All times after that he had the assurance of the OoT to make sure he could set things right, but during the beginning the prospect of doomsday would have been terrifying. And of course his general past, etc. Now who's going to make a thread on which Link had it easiest?

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
The Hero of Time had it so hard that I can't believe that he hasen't just quit. He had to face Ganondorf at max. power. The Hero of Winds faced a Ganondorf that didin't even turn into Ganon! And then at Terminia he had to watch as every thing he worked for became undone. And then being posesed and turning into the evil Oni Link! He had to become what he was forced to, and devoted his life to defeat. The Hero of Time has gone through hell more times than I can count!

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
I think the Hero of WInds had it the toughest. I mean, it's not little feat to go all around the world in a tiny (and annoying) boat, just to save a sister and then discover that he is the only one who can stop Ganon.

Re: Which Hero Had it the Toughest?
I have to agree with mostly everyone else here and say Hero Of Time! Yes, he seemed to have the most dramatic situation... I mean seriously, he had his entire future planned out for him...the fate of Hyrule was on his shoulders and if he didn't do anything about it, no one would have...(They may have tried, but failed...lol) Anyway! Yeah and sheesh... having to fall asleep for 7 years and all... Thats some serious stuff.
So yeah, I'd say Hero of Time. :embrsd:

Ah historian, you crack me up. Good thoughts though, But I believe that MM hero (even though they were the same people) had it harder. Those trials he had to go through were insane. Having only 72 hours to save the land from utter destruction would be completley maddening. Plus, all the oddities that he came across in the dungeons he had to face. Like odolwa, the masked jungle warrior with the large machete and the wasps. Crazy fight, Or who can forget the battle he had to go through with Majora? Or when He thought his beloved horse had died? All at the hands of the skullkid? I think he had it the hardest (which is the same Guy in OOT, so I am siding with you, Just for different reasons =P. Talk to you later LOZH Cheers, Joe
