Question Old Art-Styles Return?

I'm curious, Does anyone miss the art-style from some of the earlier Legend Of Zelda video games? I'm speaking, of course, of the style which has most recently been reflected in the Oracle Of Seasons and Oracle Of Ages games.

I, personally, loved this art-style, and I would love to see a 3D ( Or updated Sprite-based ) game on the Nintendo DS or Wii using this -- seemingly forgotten -- art-style.

What does everyone else think?

Do you think a Zelda game for Wii / DS using this art-style would be interesting? Maybe cool? Would you like it, or no?

EDIT: This may fit better in the " Future Zelda " catagory. It was a toss up, in my best judgement, between this catagory and that. Thanks!

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

Well... I like the old art styles and all. But I think for now, it is better to have Link and the games all 3D and take advantage of the technology and beautiful graphics avaliable. I think it's awesome watching Link evolve over time from the small little 2D green figure running around to the complex and multi diminsional Link we know now. So personally, I think they should stay on the '3D' path... (But don't get me wrong I do like the classic Zelda designs...)

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

Lol, I think my message was misunderstood...

I am saying that I want the games to stay 3D, but I'd love for them to utilize the ART style of Oracle Of Ages and Seasons...

Look at the art for TP, then look at the game... They look nearly identical, right?
Well, look at the art from Oracle Of Ages/Seasons, then project those artistic representations into a 3D game!

Do you like what you see? Would you like if a game looked like that?

Again: This has NOTHING to do with how the older games played, how they looked, or how they compare to today's 3D games, I'm simply trying to move the ART STYLE of games like Oracle Of Ages/Seasons ( as in the drawn pictures ) into a 3D space like Twilight Princess.

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

no, the art from oracles would fit better in La/Alttp, the art style the TP utilizes really looks much more like the commisioned art work made from LoZ/AoL/Alttp/LA and a little OoT in there, but the artwork in the oracle games? No, sorry.

TP's artwork is much more realistically coloured, and proportions are actually payed proper attention, the oracle art is very very anime/cartooney, and is well, cel shaded, as opposed to TP's are which definantly shows the brush mark.

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

There ya' go then... I liked the cartoony-cel-shaded look of Wind Waker.

I'd personally love to see a Cel-Shaded game with Oracle Of Ages character models... But to each his own. Thanks for the input vacumgod!

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

Oh wait, I'm so sorry, I completly misred your original idea, I thought you were comparing the artwork from the oracles and TP and calling them similiar, I'm very sorry, my mistake, but yes, I would have to agree with you (now that I understand you) that it would bequite nice to see a game like oracles or LA in full celshaded 3D.

Oh, Awesome! No problem, It's cool!

I'm actually just glad that someone eventually understood and what's better -- you agree with me! Lol. Okay, I'm happy now.

Yeah, I try not to compare artwork to artwork... They're seperate pieces all-together, and don't really NEED to be compared to eachother. Thanks again, vacumgod.

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

The LA and Oracle art styles are fine, but I really wouldn't mind if they brought back the NES artstyles. They just seem so..classic despite their age.

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

I like the art style in the Oracles a lot, it's fun, and it just looks nice. I would love to see a 3d game with the same style. Cool idea, really. It's like anime & manga, and would be interesting to have a game look like that. We only have some pics, it would be so fun seeing it all moving and everything. ^^ We can always hope...

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

I like that style, 'cause it first appeared in Link's Awakening, and that was the first Zelda I played and fell in love with (I'm not a freak, I swear!!!).

Then the second Zelda I played was Oracle of seasons, so that style will always be my first association of Link.

But, regardless of that, I think that a totaly 3D Zelda on GC or Wii would be a little... Funny. extra 3D enviorment requires Link and everyone/everything else on the same level, or else it will be a funny cartoon.

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

I think that it's fine without that. I wouldn't mind if they did one like that for the DS, but i think that cel-shaded for DS, and realistic for Wii is great.

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

I love the art style their using for TP. LOVE it. So, I'm happy if they stay down that course for many other games.

I'm not sure if I'd want the older art styles represented in 3D. There's just something I can't put my finger on...I think, give me a few years to get over the TP style and ask me again. xDDDDD

However, 2D is totally fine by me. Encouraged, almost. It just fits right with handheld games.

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

Those Oracle games...they had some great art. I need to get myself another Oracle sig.

I do think it would look cool in a 3d game. Cooler than TWW, but still not as cool as TP.

Re: Old Art-Styles Return?

yeah, the Oracle games 3D... I like the sound of that. they should really remake all GBA (nes classics, ALTTP, MC) and GB (ages, seasons, awakening...) for the DS only in 3D. espetially the oracle ones. they where my first Zelda games
