Manga Madness!

I know a bunch of you are interested in the various Mangas, so if you're interested, I put up three brand new reviews for the Ocarina of Time Mangas, and the Majora's Mask Manga. Be warned though, for those that have never read the comics yet, my reviews contain a bunch of spoilers.

Go here to find links to all of them.

Re: Manga Madness!

I read the MM manga a long time ago so I don't remember too many details, but I agree with your assesment of it. The Ikana section was especially poor. The manga takes arguably the one of the richest segments of the series and reduces it to a dull boss battle. The depiction of the Mask Salesman was completely messed up, with him revealed to be evil at the end, which made little sense. The backstory about Majora was interesting, but it was nothing more than fan fiction and it didn't shed too much light on things. I remember that I liked the beginning and that there were some great moments, but overall I was disappointed.

I loved the Oracles manga, on the other hand. OoT's was okay. I really liked the part when Link was in the desert and had a vision of the Deku Tree, if my memory can be trusted.

Re: Manga Madness!

I own all three of those mangas, they're quite nice to have in person.

Yeah, unforunately Ikana suffered a bit in the Majora's Mask manga, but I guess it was either that or Anju and Kafei, and the latter did have more tie-ins with the intro. Tis a pity.

Personally my favorite by far have been the two Four Swords Adventures volumes. I love the dynamic of the different sides of Link and how they play against each other. Makes for a rich series.

Re: Manga Madness!

I've read the whole MM Manga, and, in my opinion, was WAY too short (I read the whole series in less than a couple of hours). I mean, they cut out SO many important parts. They even completely skipped the ikana canyon arc, and that was my favorite! Grr... Other than that, it was good.

I've not read the others completely yet.

I know what you mean, Seasons was great, and the one for Ages might be my favorite of all.

Yeah, that's when he's dreaming about all kinds of events from his past. Then he realizes "Oh snap...Shiek has no memories..."

Re: Manga Madness!

I loved the Oracle manga. I espically loved the backstory with Din and Link, I really approved, since it is one of my favorite pairings.

I loved the part with Nabooru in the OoT manga, and I loved her expression when she admitted stealing the Mirror Shield. But I did think Ruto's transformation into a sage was pretty rushed, and glossed over, but I do like they show how she's really matured, in her brief part.

Re: Manga Madness!

I tried to read those mangas myself (series of JPEGs, downloaded from Zelda Legends), and got pretty confused. Is there a certain way that you have to read them? (i.e, right to left instead of left to right, etc.)

Re: Manga Madness!

Yeah, it's right to left, completely opposite of Western Comics. It's like this for all real Manga.
