The Legend Of Zelda: Future? Or Past?

Many people have ask me "Hey! You play zelda right? Well, Is it future? Or Past?"
The problem is, I don't know what to tell them. Is it past? Or is it Future?
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think its Future or Past?

Are you asking the period of events? If so it takes place around Medievil times... or at least begins around.

I mean the whole series.

i think its in the past i mean yeah ALttP it says it right there and there are queens and kings which dont really happen anymore also the are maidens like zelda and they dont have cotton shirts like us and they dont have a lot of technology like us so i think its in the past

well the whole series is different the only zelda that i think that is in the present is WW but none are in the future trust me on this one

Well the whole series is in the past which is obvious. No cannons, no guns, all swords, no technology.

It probably takes place in the Past, because if it was in the future there would most likely be guns.

But what if something happened in the future that whiped out all Guns and Gunfare?

Star Wars takes place in the "past", and that's sci-fi.

Its just fantasy, but Zelda alltogether is more indicative of a midevil period, like most fantasy.

also black sparrow i dont thnk anything could happen to wipe out guns and cannons. the people would just make more and more until they got enough to fight again.

I know, but Zelda doesn't take place on earth either, I'm not sure its isn't supposed to, though. Fantasy never spends time on planets, since it ussually isn't relavent to the story.

It's hard to tell really. If it's set on Earth, which is unlikely, then it's the past. However, being set in another world, it's not easy to say.

It is a diffrent demention with magical creatures like fariys elves and talking trees so it is a magical world not in this universe thats the name of the website Zeldauniverse so there is a whole diffrent universe for the Zelda serise.

I believe it's in the past because they have no electricity, no computers, phones, cars,etc. It's probably in the medieval period.

Well since it says "legend" it makes people think it may take part in the past for it says legend. Zelda has nothing to do with our world.--anominous.

Zelda is probably not in the future or past. It is not our world. It does not correspond to our world. It has nothing to do with our world.

I agree with St. Jimmy. The most obvious answer to this dilemma is that the Zelda franchise is neither in the future nor in the past. It has no relation to our own timeline. Theoretically, it could be right now, just not here -- just as Star Wars is far in the past, just not physically here.

In the end, it's a set of games. It has no relevance to our world bar entertainment value.

Well, one would say Hyrule is reminiscent of Medieval Europe... But then again...

Hyrule does not exist. It is another world. Earth is Earth; you don't see any pigmen or Great Fairies or Deku Scrubs... So... It is beyond time. But, if the Zelda series were to exist, they would take place in the past.
