The Zora Chain of Evolution

well we all know that the zora become the rito... but does anyone think they know where they come from? (LoZ historian... come to this thread!!!!)

anyways, i would say that they might've been fish that evolved into the zora... but that doesn't explain how they learned how to talk. maybe with the evolution from the fish in that time period, the learned how.

what do you people think?

Edit: what do you think the zora will evolve into after the rito???

i would have to say half zora half rito so they can swim really well and they can fly.

Re: The Zora Chain of Evolution

No matter what anyone says there's not enough information to tell. The only small theory I can make is that they use to be fish because the zoras in ALttP live more underwater and they share a resemblance to the zolas are fish that attack you. But I have no idea because now that I think about it AlttP is way after OoT so that doesn't make sense know does it?

GAHH! PEOPLE PLEASE BE QUIET AND LOOK FOR ANSWERS INSTEAD OF WONDERING!

The zora are mutated fish!

The zora might've evolved into the rito, and they might've not.

Re: The Zora Chain of Evolution

The Rito are the half bird, half human creatures found on Dragon Roost Island in WW. They play a key part in the game.

Anyway, perhaps the Zoras are mutated humans.

As for the connection between Zora and Rito, I don't believe there there is. How could Zoras have evolved into the Rito and then back into Zoras? Also, the sages Laruto and Fado were killed by Ganon, wouldn't that mean that it happened not long before? Evolution takes a long time. Another thing, Medli looks different from the other Rito. Her skin (feathers) are white instead of brown, and her wings are not seen unless she flies. Then again, it might be that she is a girl. All the other Rito you see are men (kinda strange... ). I think Medli has Zora blood mixed in with Rito blood, but mostly Rito.

Re: The Zora Chain of Evolution

It isn't known where the Zora's came from. In the creation legends of Hyrule, it only says that Din made the arth, Nayru gave law and spirit to the earth, and Farore made all the creatures to uphold that law and spirit. From what we've seen, it is suggested that the Hylians were there right from Hyrule's creation. They didn't evolve from something, so it's probably the same case with the Zoras: they were there in that form from the beginning. Plus everyone knows that the Zora evolved into the Rito (mainly because the Rito symbol is EXACTLY the same as the Zora symbol).

As for what happened after they evolved into the Rito. No one knows. The Zolas in LoZ are evil, and ALttP was stated by Nintendo to come before LoZ, so the Zoras (as they are known in ALttP) probably aren't evolved forms of the Rito, possibly just taking the name of an extinct species of fish/human. And when they became evil, called themselves the Zolas. It's the best theory I could come up with to what happened with the Zoras. They evolved into the Rito, the Rito became extinct and a new group of talking fish took the name of the ancient Zora. Maybe the Fishmen that draw your map in TWW are the first forms of the Zoras in ALttP and the Zolas in LoZ.

Hmmm...I read somewhere(no in a fan fic) that Zora's turned evil because the people discriminated against them or something.

Possibly. They might of joined Ganon's forces, because he might of offered them something that they desperately wanted or needed.

Re: The Zora Chain of Evolution

According to the game manual, they evolved from fish. I don't see how they evolved into the Rito, but if Nintendo says it happened then it happened.

I'm going with the theory that the Rito became extinct and those talking fish from WW evolved to the creatures known as "Zoras" in ALTTP.

When TP and PH are released we may know more about the Zoras. I've always found them to be an interesting race with little known about them.

Re: The Zora Chain of Evolution

Alot of you are forgetting that there are actually three forms of Zoras, the Zoras seen in OoT and MM, the Rito, and the green and red fishy enemies in the 2d games. This makes the whole thing even more interesting, because OoT is pretty definitely the first game chronologically, but the red and green fish look would seem to me to be deevolution from their original form. Both kinds of Zoras appear in Oracle of Ages (they make the the red-green fishies "river Zoras" and the humanoid fishies "sea Zoras"). I have two possibilities in mind:
1. The Zoras were transformed into the Rito when the world flooded, and then at some point were changed into the red green fishies.
2. Only the Zoras in Hyrule were transformed into the Rito when the world flooded. Link and Tetra go off looking for a new land at the end of WW, and when they find it they discover the rivers are populated by the fish Zoras.

Re: The Zora Chain of Evolution

In the English versions of the game, the green "Zoras" are often referred to as "Zolas." I think it is better that way.

Additionally, I am fairly certain that "Zoras" and "Zolas" both appear in OoA.

Re: The Zora Chain of Evolution

Really, I guess it all falls down to what you think the timeline is. Depending on which games you think came first effects their history, and seeing as how there is no official timeline, the Zoras history is lost.
