The Zelda animated series thread

The animated series that has Link with brown hair for some reason, was overall not bad. It was kind of dorky and stupid at times, sure, but it also had some funny parts and an okay storyline. What are your thoughts?

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

I liked the cartoons. I kind of wish they had continued them. In fact I wish they had a Zelda cartoon series even now today! It seems though that video game characters made into cartoon series never go well. All except Sonic the Heghog has pulled THAT off.

P.S.

WHOAH! Whats up with THAT timeline?! PM me later about it or direct me to a thread explaining it. IT is WAY different from the standard format that most go by.

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

I remember being so excited that there was a Zelda cartoon when I was little. I'd watch it every Saturday morning after Mario. Good times.

It's silly and fun. I dig it.

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

I'm actually one of the few who like the Zelda cartoons. Several people write them off as horrible atrocities to the series, but if you take them as a kid's show, they're great. Yes, they're stupid, but stupid in a fun way.
And besides- Ganon giving boxing lessons to his minions. Sheer. Genius.

And am I the only who who owns the DVD collection of the series?

Yeah it was stupid every once in a while but it was down right halarious at times! (I have a movie set, but not the whole collection like you.) I think I recall something about Ganon Boxing. I was kind of young when the shows were out and its hard for me to remeber but I think I remeber something about that... It was before my first LoZ game I played, thats for sure, but yeah I remember it. Probably was pretty damn funny.

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

I actually first found this community while I was looking for episode downloads, because I found them on the ZU site. I think one of my first posts was about that, actually.

There's a DVD set? That's news to me. I'm going to have to look into that.

Link had brown hair because well, thats the original hair colour of the original link, from LoZ/AoL... does that ring a bell (it's a shame the new members have no clue about the history of zelda).

Well, I loved the animated series, as an animation major I can appreciate it that much more, and well, the childhood humor of the cartoon just makes it golden.

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

They were terrible, a travisty to the name of Zelda. I found them an insult to the very name.

That being said, I, like the Super Mario Bros. Movie, enjoyed them quite a bit. Turned Link into a pervert, Ganon into a pig, and the Triforce into two pieces. You just had to be a fan to get it all, to laugh at everything that was wrong with it. Exactly why I loved the Mario Bros movie.

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

This is Miyamoto laughing at the LoZ Animated Series, or at people that still watch them today.

However we may never know if he was laughing at the cartoons because they were that bad, that stupid, and/or just that funny.

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

You need to look into the older games more. Ganon was always a pig back then. And in LoZ, which the cartoons seem to be based on, Wisdom and Power were the only revealed Triforce pieces. Courage didn't show up until AoL.

However, Valiant's comics and the Captain N shows that had Link/Zelda in them had an AoL setting, complete with the Triforce of Courage. In Captain N, Link/Zelda had the same voice actors as they did in the Zelda animated series, although they looked older in these shows.
Just in case you were dying to know.

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

The animated series was stupid. As in funny stupid. I hated them, but I loved them. They were so incredibly stupid that I couldn't help but laugh from the idiocity in them. Link was a stubborn adolescent, couldn't do anything but shoot lasers and kept saying, "Well, excuuuuuuuuuuse me, princess" in that annoying voice of his. It entertained me, though; gave me a good laugh, though I wouldn't want to watch it ever again.

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

I've seen a few episodes online. Funny stuff. I wouldn't want it to be on tv again (I think I'd die if that happened), but it's quite entertaining anyway. I just wonder if the people who made it were actually being serious.

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

I wish there was a zelda series now, anime style! That guy that wrote the alttp comics could have done an awesome zelda anime series. It would have to be more mature though, the origanal ones were kinda stupid and, well, barfatrocious (yup i made up a word, atrocias and barf put together!lol) I wish link looked more like a baddy in the cartoons. Not that im one of those fanboys "wow link looks so badass in tp, *snort* *pushing up glasses*" no, I just think he looked dorkyish, like in the cdi games *shudder* "please god forgive me for saying cdi zelda!"

Re: The Zelda animated series thread

I really liked the cartoons myself. In fact, I have all the episode files downloaded to my hard drive. They were funny, in a sort of corny way. But if you look at the timeframe in which they were produced, it would make sense. Cartoons back then did not have the strong language and the hack and slash violence that we know and love today.

Where can I buy the series. I looked on Amazon but they only came from America, and you can never be sure that it will actually arrive. There's also the problem of paying all that VAT and Duty tax...
