Zelda Roundtable - The First

Not enough of you freaks...um... :confused: I mean... loyal members of the community... yeah, that's it, read the main page of ZU (you know, that thing without the /forums/?), so I figured I'd copy my most recent newspost here, since many patrons of the Zelda boards may be very interested in this:

A number of webmasters from various Zelda fansites around the Internet have decided to get together for a large roundtable discussion in a few weeks.

TSA from The Hylia is handling most of the logistics of it, but here's the run-down:

When: 22 April, 2006 at 20:00 (8 pm) GMT, 3pm US East, 12pm US West, for a couple of hours at most.

Where: IRC chatroom #zeldaroundtable on the server irc.initialized.org

How do I get there? Two ways: first, if you use a chat client, connect to that server, and join the channel. Second, I will have a special Java client available on the site once we get closer to the time that will bring you right to that channel just by clicking on the link and loading the program. This will not affect our chatroom's operation, or ability to connect to it at all.

What is it? In the roundtable, those of us participating will take turns answering questions submitted beforehand. Everyone is free to come join, view the roundtable in real time and make comments, although those answering questions will be those listed below.

If you would like a question addressed, send it to zeldaroundtable (at) gmail.com. Keep in mind that the questions are meant to be asked of most everyone, so questions about specific sites don't really fit in this. Also, no one is going to agree on timelines, so I'd suggest steering away from the specifics of timeline theory.

Wow, I hope I won't be busy that day. Hmm...the 28th, yay, I'm free. I hope I remember the date, time, place, and over-all...it!

I didn't know there were so many zelda sites!(I have only been to two others! )

Submit questions! We need questions for the usage, and as far as I know, there are none as of yet. Of course, there is time... but still.

Do the questions have to relate to just Twilight Princess or any Zelda in general?

Figured i'd point that out.

And i'll be there, if I wake up/don't have a job at the time.

Is this going to be a regular thing, or for major events like pre/post E3, major release dates etc?

I'm probably going to sound like a jerk here (I don't mean to.. but)

What do you guys know that the fans don't?

@FawkesFire, I'm pretty sure that TSA said that it's going to be an "once in a while" thing. It's a lot of work to organise it as a monthly thing, so I'm pretty sure that it will happen when there are major events, or when the Zelda world is slow, lol.

@MLNick, as correct as you are in that statement, the webmasters of a lot of the sites are the people who give you, and the other users of the community the news and they are the ones who've built the websites, so in theory we should know things a little more inside out, on the whole, than the standard user. In addition to this, you'll get the opinions of some of the bigger sites out on the Internet at the moment, and I know that we've all got very different opinions on most things.

They are just getting together a forum for many different communities to discuss matters, not a matter of who knows more.

It's just as important about who knows what, as there are bound to be timeline questions. The Hylia is a hive for things like that, as is Zelda Legends. More so than Zelda Universe as they have dedicated sections for it. So you need to pretty knowledgeable to actually answer those questions without looking like a fool.

Although the opinions part is also very true indeed as well. I'm a member of this as a representative for Rauru's Return, as I'm the webby there, so I'm definitely looking forward to it .

Zelda in general. Only reason I pointed out timelines for avoiding is because no one agrees completely on that, and actual discussion would probably not ever end.

This type of roundtable is all about opinions. Observations and a bit of knowledge, perhaps, but I imagine it's basically going to be what we all think about everything.

As it's user submitted questions, I think there will be a lot of questions which the panel with have to sift through which'll be like "Is Phantom Hourglass after Wind Waker?" and tons of stuff about that, which the best we can do is theorise on. But theories are still interesting, even if they turn out to be so wrong it's embarrassing.

I will... If I get JRE on FireFox before then (yay for procrastination!). How does one qualify to be a major zelda site... my site is essentially a site about everything (that I think of at the time) but it does have an extensive zelda section ( http://www.obsequiouseye.info/zelda ).

Question: Adress all news about PH.

Will the roundtable be logged and posted on the Forums, for those unavailable live?
