Re: Did Nintendo copy?
It's not a matter of copying peter pan, it's a matter of evolving a certain idea, nintendo took peter pan to a whole new level, the kokiri are spiritual lost boys, and I'm fine with that. Did ninty copy?, no, they borrowed, and because zelda is greater now because of it, nintendo has done more than enough to pay homage to the fantasy tale.

Re: Did Nintendo copy?
Wow, I have never look at it in that kind of light... I havn't read nor watched anything related to peter pan since I was 5 or 6 or soming..... WAIT!! I played Kingdom Hearts two years ago... Oh well
Another thing, Ninty also stole/borrowed the idea of Pokemon, though they kinda bought it. They found a manga in a book store and thought the idea was great, and went to the author of the comic book and bought it off him for big bucks. Now both sides of the deal are happy... although ninty made more money off it... Anyway,'bout the only thing I can think off with the Big N stealing ideas.... Wait, what about the revolution and the design something similar to those of Apples creations (ie Ipods etc)?? Another thing that I can think off. And that's that.

Re: Did Nintendo copy?
Yeah I'll bet Nintendo borrows SOME ideas....I think when Link gets the Master Sword from the Temple of Time it kind of ressembles King Arthur.

Re: Did Nintendo copy?
Well...its not really a matter of borrowing or copying. If you think about it, its nearly, if not, impossible to come up with a whole new original idea. Why? Because, everything has been done before. Plain and simple. You may come up with an idea that you think is 100% your own, but then you may find out that someone else did the same thing 40 years ago.
After 2,000+ years of civilization, you start to run out of new and original ideas. ![]()

Re: Did Nintendo copy?
Other than the fact Link wears a green tunic Zelda and Peter Pan are completly un-alike.

Re: Did Nintendo copy?
Nintendo didn't copy at all. Link has always worn a green tunic, so when they made Ocarina Of Time, they thought of the idea that Link would think he's a Kokiri and all that, so the story can go forward. And fairies have been a part of Zelda since the beginning. Would it seem right to have adult Kokiri roaming about the place? Ninty didn't copy it's just coincidence. I agree it's hard to come up with new ideas, it's just coincidence, nothing less, nothing more.

Re: Did Nintendo copy?
It's more like insperation then copying. Like everyone takes a little from someone else. Exept katamari dimashi. That was just insane. Like ninja gidan takes off of all ninja stories ever made. Okami takes after ancient legends and what not.

Such as all the FPS games saying that it is "better than halo" when it either is a true copy, just with less things, and whatnots. Also there's been quite a few wanna-bes of Dynasty warriors, GTA..... I'm trailint off

Re: Did Nintendo copy?
The lost boys in Peter Pan are copied off of immortal child-sprites from various other fairy-tales.

Re: Did Nintendo copy?
Just discovered this today: In OOT, at Hyrule market you'll see that prancing thief guy (his name's Sakon in MM). If you talk to him, he'll say "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date": Alice in Wonderland.
But, yeah, I agree with statements above. It's more like inspiration than actually stealing/borrowing. |
