MDK's Split Timeline Theory (ver. 2)

Hey people, MDK here. I've been absent from the forum for a good while now, and i've decided it was long enough. I'm trying to start up my Timeline Theory again - i've more or less made it my mission to provide a plausible timeline that makes sense in every way possible. Why? Because it's a question many of us want answered, and it is a question that Nintendo refuses to answer. Here is the latest version of my timeline. Enjoy, and remember, i'm open to any criticism or contradicton.

Updates: Added a prelude to OOT (hence the entire series), added the events between LOZ and AOL
Still working on Four Swords - be patient, it'll happen one day.
If you're following my theory, please keep checking the most recent posts for updates.

--------------------------------------------------

Prelude

- The Kingdom of Hyrule. A great nation that lived in peace. But unfortunately, this was not to last.
- The peoples of the land were quarrelling. The mountain people, the Gorons, and the river people, the Zoras, were waging war against one another. The Gerudo, a race comprised almost entirely of women that hailed from the western deserts, were spreading dissension amongst the people of Hyrule. War seemed imminent.
- A Hylian couple had been blessed with a son only a few days before. They decided that he was not grow up in a war-torn country. There was a forest told of in legend where the Kokiri Tribe lived in peace. It was decided that their boy would live there, away from the horrors of war.
- Unfortunately, the child’s father, a Knight of Hyrule, was called to be Captain of the Guard the very night hostilities broke out. He defended the King from rebels at the castle, and there he fell.
- His wife fled with their son, searching desperately for Kokiri Forest. When she found it and entered, her life was slowly drained from her body, for no mortal could enter the woods. On dying legs, she reached the forest’s guardian, the Deku Tree, and begged him to take her child with her last breath.
- The Deku Tree saw the great destiny of the child, and took him into the forest, where he would be raised as one of the Kokiri. The child’s name was Link…

Several years later…

- Years have passed since the terrible war ended. The King of Hyrule unified the land, and formed alliances with the Gorons and the Zoras.
- The King is currently negotiating an alliance with the Gerudo King, the sole man born to the Gerudo in a hundred years… Ganondorf.
- His dark intentions may not be apparent to the King of Hyrule, but his presence in the kingdom has brought nightmares to those sensitive to the evil aura that surrounds him. In particular, Hyrule’s princess, Zelda… and the Hylian boy who lives among the Kokiri, Link…

- Every Kokiri is born with a guardian fairy, and they will be partners for life. However, Link, still unaware of his past, never received a guardian fairy. Because of this, many other Kokiri would mock and jeer at him.
- One day, in the midst of his nightmares, a fairy named Navi came to Link. She was to be his partner from then on, and she gave Link a message: the Great Deku Tree requested his presence in his meadow. The time to test the boy’s courage had come.
- The Deku Tree told Link that a man of the desert had cursed him, and he asked Link to break. Taking in hand the sword of the Kokiri, Link entered the Deku Tree and slew the beast that dwelt within him. However, though Link was victorious, the Deku Tree was doomed before he started.
- In his final moments, the Deku Tree told Link to leave the forest and journey to Hyrule Castle, where he must find the ‘Princess of Destiny’, and gave Link the Kokiri Emerald, the stone that the desert man wanted so much that he cursed the Deku Tree. Bidding his final farewell, the guardian of the forest came to pass.
- With his mission in mind and his sword in hand, Link left the woods for the first time, and set of for Hyrule Castle. --> Events of ‘Ocarina of Time’

1st Timeline

Events of 'Ocarina of Time'

- Link, the Hero of Time, defeated Ganondorf in a fierce battle. The Seven Sages then sealed Ganondorf in the Sacred Realm.
- Zelda returned Link to his own time, removing him from her timeline.
- The Triforce of Courage left his body and split into 8 pieces in order to remain in that timeline, scattered and hidden.
- From here, Link has vanished from the timeline, and has no descendants in that timeline, thus the Hero of Time didn’t appear to save Hyrule once again when Ganondorf broke out of the Sacred Realm.
- The peoples of Hyrule despaired, and left their fate in the hands of the Gods.
- The Gods called chosen people to the mountaintops, and flooded Hyrule, burying it and Ganondorf beneath the Great Sea.
- Centuries have passed. The Hylian race dwindled and died out. Very few who were of Hylian descent remain.
- Ganondorf, his power still sealed, escapes to the surface of the Great Sea and begins abducting young girls of Hylian descent, with the hope of finding Princess Zelda.
- In its task, Ganondorf’s bird abducted the sister of a boy named Link, who was of Hylian descent and a descendant of the Knights of Hyrule.
- He set out to rescue her with a girl named Tetra and her band of pirates. --> Events of 'The Wind Waker'

Events of ‘The Wind Waker’

- Ganondorf gathered Link and Princess Zelda at the top of his tower, and reformed the Triforce. Finally, he could conquer Hyrule.
- However, before Ganondorf could lay his hands on the sacred relic, the King of Hyrule touched it and wished that Hyrule be buried beneath the Great Sea once and for all.
- As the Triforce returned to the heavens, Ganondorf, all purpose and sanity lost, drew his swords and attacked the children in a fit of rage and madness.
- Taking the Master Sword in hand, Link fought back and slew the Gerudo King. Ganondorf, no longer immortal, was gone for good.
- By the King’s wish, the two young Hylians were returned to the ocean’s surface. The King, Ganondorf and the Master Sword were left to drown with the ancient kingdom.
- All was well – Link had saved his sister, and peace had been restored to the Great Sea.
- Months later, Link, Tetra and the pirates set sail in search of a new land in which to lay the foundations of a new kingdom.
- Many years passed, and that kingdom, christened Hyrule after the kingdom of old, has become a prosperous, thriving nation.
- Unfortunately, as seems to be the fate of those with Hylian blood, one day a shadow came forth and swept across Hyrule.
- When the end seemed near, the tiny people known as the Picori descended from the heavens.
- They presented to the Hero of Men a sacred sword and a golden light. With these in hand, the Hero drove out the darkness and restored peace to the kingdom.
- The people of Hyrule enshrined the Picori Blade, as it was called, and revered the Picori as their saviours. Each year, the people would hold a festival in honour of the Picori.
Centuries have passed. It is fabled that they appear but once every hundred years.
The year in question marked the hundredth year since the Picori last appeared to the race of men.
- One event of this annual festival was the sword-fighting tournament. The victor of this particular was a stranger dressed in black, a man by the name of Vaati. Using some unusual technique, he won the tournament with relative ease.
- The custom was that the victor earned the right to touch the sacred Picori Blade. Vaati, however, broke the blade and opened the chest that it sealed, releasing the evil spirits contained within.
- Princess Zelda tried to intervene, but Vaati cast the curse of stone upon her. Link, her close childhood friend, watched helplessly. Vaati, annoyed that what he desired was not in the chest, vanished from the scene.
- As the Picori, no mere legend, appear only to children, the King charged Link with seeking out the Picori in order to reforge the Picori Blade and break the curse on Zelda.
- Taking in hand the sword that was to be presented to Vaati, Link made his way to the Minish Woods, where the Picori were said to dwell. --> Events of ‘The Minish Cap’

Games that follow from this timeline: Four Swords, Four Swords Adventures

I believe that the land of Hyrule in which TMC takes place is a new kingdom founded by Tetra and Link, which is what they set off to do at the end of TWW. My reason for believing this is that the geography of Hyrule is completely new - Death Mountain and the Lost Woods, for example, are not there - instead there are Mt. Crenel and the Minish Woods.
I believe that it is this land on which the Minish descended and bestowed upon the Hero of Men the Picori Blade, and upon the Princess of Destiny the Light Force - the Triforce has remained bound to the original kingdom of Hyrule.
It would be therefore possible, even probable, that the Hero of Men was the Hero of Winds (or certainly his descendant) and the Hero of the Four Sword (TMC Link) is their descendant as well.

PLEASE NOTE: I am fully aware that Four Swords Adventures does not fit in to this timeline very well at all, for example, the geographical differences and the presence of Ganon. PLEASE DO NOT RAISE THIS ISSUE. I have not tried to fit it into the timeline yet as I have not played the game, let alone completed it. Once I have done so, I will try to make sense of it. In the meantime, focus on what I have already pieced together. Thank you.

2nd Timeline

Events of 'Ocarina of Time'

- Link reappeared in his own time moments after Ganondorf had entered the Sacred Realm.
- Her job done, Navi left Link’s side, and disappeared through the window of the temple. Link replaced the Master Sword and closed the Door of Time.
- Three months later, Link took his sword, his shield and the Ocarina of Time, a gift from Princess Zelda, and set off with Epona to search for Navi, whom he had come to miss.
- A Skull Kid wearing a strange mask and a fairy brother and sister ambushed him in the Lost Woods.
- The masked Skull Kid took Link’s Ocarina and made off with Epona.
- Link pursued the thief through the Lost Woods to get them back. --> Events of 'Majora's Mask'

- The Master Sword having been replaced, Ganondorf was now sealed inside the Sacred Realm.
- In this way, none of Link's adventure as an adult ever happened - there exists no legend of the Hero of Time in this timeline.
- Ganondorf laid his hand on the Triforce, but it did not split into the three parts, as it was sealed within the Sacred Realm.
- As Ganondorf’s power grew, a rift was torn open between the dimensions.
- A gateway between Hyrule and the Dark World had been opened, and an evil energy flowed into the land.
- Many ventured into the Dark World in hopes of finding the legendary Golden Power, but none returned.
- The King of Hyrule commanded seven sages to seal the rift, and the Knights of Hyrule were charged with protecting them in their task.
- The Knights were nearly wiped out, but the Sages were successful, and the gateway to the Dark World was sealed.

- Centuries have passed. The battle to seal the gateway to the Dark World has gone down in legend as the Imprisoning War. The Hylian race has dwindled and died out. Very few who are of Hylian descent remain. Among them are the families of the Seven Sages, and a few of the Knights’ descendants.
- As if from nowhere, a sorcerer named Agahnim appeared. He seemed to be a saviour to the people, having used his powerful magic to douse a great inferno.
- He gained favour with the King of Hyrule, who took him on as his chief advisor. Agahnim use this new position of power to his advantage.
- He brainwashed the castle soldiers and ordered the arrest of the descendants of the Seven Sages, who were to be sacrificed in a dark ritual that would break the Sages’ Seal.
- Six of the Sages’ descendants had been sacrificed. Only the King’s daughter, Zelda, remained. When the King learned of Agahnim’s intentions and tried to stop him, Agahnim killed him.
- Zelda was imprisoned in the castle dungeons to helplessly await her sacrifice.
- One stormy night, as her fate drew near, Zelda cried out desperately for help from inside her cell.
- Her voice reached the ears of a boy named Link, who was of Hylian descent, and a descendant of the Knights of Hyrule.
- Link’s uncle had left the house that night to run a mysterious errand. He had taken his sword and shield with him.
- Suspecting trouble, Link headed for Hyrule Castle. --> Events of 'A Link To The Past'

Events of 'A Link To The Past'

- After the defeat of Ganon, Link the Hero took back the Triforce and set things right once again. After doing so, he gave the Triforce to the King of Hyrule, so that he may govern the land with care, and bring about a new Golden Era.
- As time passed, the fear of Ganon's revival was growing. Link left Hyrule on a journey to hone his skills, so that he would be able to withstand such a threat, should one ever arise.
- As he made his return journey, he encountered a storm. His one-man ship was reduced to splinters by a bolt of lightning, and Link was knocked unconscious.
- Link awoke to the sight of a girl named Marin, who bore a striking resemblance to Princess Zelda. She had taken care of him while he was in a coma, and told him that he was currently on an island called Koholint.
- After she returned his shield to him, Link headed to the southern shores to recover his sword. Upon doing so, he was confronted by an owl. The creature spoke to him - he could not leave the island until the Windfish was awakened.
- Following the owl's instructions, Link headed to the Woods of Mystery to the North to investigate. --> Events of 'Link's Awakening'

- Centuries passed, and Hyrule forgot much of its troubled past. The Master Sword was forgotten, and the blade of legends became lost within the trees and shadows of the Lost Woods. It is unknown whether Link ever returned to Hyrule, and his endeavours that had gone down in legend had been forgotten.
- Hyrule had been governed justly over the centuries with little disturbance. The Triforce was handed down through the generations of the Royal Family, and its power was used to keep the peace. Only Power and Wisdom remained in their grasp - Courage had seemingly disappeared, and it, too, was forgotten in time.
- One fateful day, Ganon, the Prince of Darkness appeared in Hyrule. With his powerful army, he invaded the castle and stole the Triforce of Power.
- In her desperation, Princess Zelda took the Triforce of Wisdom and split it into eight shards. She then entrusted her attendant, Impa, with the task of scattering the pieces across Hyrule, so that Ganon may never find it.
- Impa escaped, and Ganon, angered by Zelda's action, took the princess prisoner in his fortress on Death Mountain.
- Impa succeeded in her task, but Ganon's forces were catching up to her. Eventually, they captured her, but a young hunter by the name of Link heard her cry out, and rushed to her aid. With great courage, he fought off Ganon's minions.
- Impa felt she could trust Link, and told him of the troubling matters at hand. She begged Link to rescue Zelda, a task that he valiantly accepted.
- Taking in hand a sword, a shield and a map of the hiding places of the Triforce shards, Link set out to reform the Triforce of Wisdom, for only with its power would he be able to enter Death Mountain and challenge the Prince of Darkness.
- Perhaps the Hero had returned and passed on his blood, or perhaps there were still survivors of the legendary Knights... Regardless, after all this time, a new Hero has emerged. The Legend of Zelda begins anew. --> Events of 'The Legend of Zelda'

Events of ‘The Legend of Zelda'

- After many trials and endeavours, Link entered Death Mountain with the Triforce of Wisdom in his hand. At the heart of the lair, Link came face-to-face with the Ganon himself. After a fierce battle, Link destroyed the Dark Prince and retrieved from his ashes the Triforce of Power. He freed Princess Zelda from her fiery imprisonment, and once again all was well.
- Princess Zelda was crowned ruler of Hyrule, and Link was recognized as a true hero. With the Triforces of Power and Wisdom, Zelda returned peace to the kingdom.
- A few years have passed. Peace still reigns in the land of Hyrule. The boy hero is on the verge of manhood, his sixteenth birthday only a few days away. As the anniversary of his birth drew nearer, Link noticed something different about himself – a mark in the shape of three triangles unified into one suddenly appeared on the arch of his left hand.
- Link sought the wisdom of Impa, Princess Zelda’s attendant, for she knew much of Hyrule’s ancient heraldry. Impa stared in disbelief. She brought Link to a sealed room in the castle, a room that had not been opened for centuries. She pressed the symbol on Link’s hand against an identical symbol on the door, and suddenly the room was unlocked.
- Link peered into the room and saw a beautiful maiden lying on an altar in the center of the room. She appeared to be in a deep slumber. At the foot of the altar was a small wooden chest that bore the same mark as the one on Link’s hand. Impa began to tell Link one of the hidden legends of the Royal Family, the legend behind the sleeping maiden – the legend of Zelda…

- Long ago, there was a wise and just king in Hyrule. Using the power of the sacred Triforce, he governed the land justly, and peace reigned in his time. When the King was on his deathbed, he told his son, the Prince, that he would inherit the throne of Hyrule, and also the Triforce. However, the Prince would only inherit the Triforce in part, and he was angered by his father’s decision.
- One day, the Prince received some startling information from one of his Royal Magicians. Before his death, the King had imparted to his sister, Princess Zelda, knowledge regarding the remaining piece of the Triforce, which was to be hidden from the Prince.
- Angered by his sister’s treachery, the Prince demanded that she reveal all she knew of the Triforce. The Princess, staying true to her word, refused to say a word. The magician was annoyed with her lack of co-operation, and acting on his own, threatened to lull the Princess into an eternal slumber unless she shared her knowledge. Again she refused.
-The Prince, realizing what might happen, tried to stop the magician, but he was thrown aside. The magician cast his curse, and Princess Zelda fell into a deep sleep, but in a strange twist of fate, the magician breathed his last and collapsed. The Prince, ashamed at what he had wrought, laid his sister on an altar in a room in the castle, together with six crystals and a scroll that could not be read – artifacts found in Zelda’s chamber, which had an apparent connection to the Triforce. He had the room sealed – only a chosen hero who bore the crest could open the door. Finally, the Prince passed a royal decree – every royal maiden born from that day forth would be called Zelda, so that the tragedy would never be forgotten.

- Centuries have passed since then, and now, Link, the one with the crest, has finally appeared. The maiden on the altar was none other than the Princess Zelda of the age gone passed, cursed to sleep eternally. According to Impa, only the power of the unified Triforce can lift the curse. Link opened the chest to find six shining crystals and an ancient scroll. The whereabouts of the third Triforce piece was written in scroll, which, according to Impa, only the one with the crest could read.
- Link began to examine the scroll. It read that there were indeed three pieces of the Triforce – Power, Wisdom and Courage. However, the Triforce of Courage could not be used by just anyone. Only one that is pure of heart, has endured many hardships and passed many trials, thus proving himself a true Hero, is worthy of holding the Triforce of Courage. For this reason, the Triforce of Courage is sealed deep within a Great Palace, which is hidden in the treacherous Death Valley. In addition to this, the seal is held in place by six statues, which are hidden in six well-guarded palaces across Hyrule. Setting a crystal in each of the statues is the only way to break the seal on the Great Palace.
- Link knew what had to be done. The Princess had slept long enough. Link took the crystals from the altar, and arming himself with an enchanted sword and shield, set off in search of the first palace. --> Events of ‘The Adventure of Link'

Games that follow from this timeline: Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages

Hyrule in LOZ and AOL, while the geography may not be identical, both certainly have a Death Mountain, and a large lake that one could call Lake Hylia - LOZ has a Lost Woods
the whereabouts of the Master Sword are unknown, unless you want to believe that the Magical Sword is the Master Sword (doubtful, but debatable)

Link's Awakening is a direct sequel to ALTTP - it does not follow on from OOS and OOA as many think. The Oracles Hero is not the Hero of ALTTP. Two details confirm this:
1) The Triforce mark on his hand - ALTTP Link does not have it
2) The Oracles Hero and Princess Zelda do not know each other - ALTTP Link knows her rather well, he met her at the beginning of the game and spent the rest trying to save her.

One fact to back up that Oracles, LOZ and AOL all take place after ALTTP is the fact that the Triforce is no longer in the Sacred Realm, but in the possession of the Royal Family - I believe that the Hero of Cataclysm’s Eve gave it to them after taking it back from Ganon.

Oracles is likely to take place after LOZ and AOL. In the events of LOZ and AOL, Link reforms the Triforce of Wisdom, takes back the Triforce of Power from Ganon, and retrieves the Triforce of Courage from the Great Palace. He reduced Ganon to ashes, and four years later, as his sixteenth birthday approached, a birthmark in the shape of the Triforce appeared on his left hand.
In Oracles, the Hero also has a Triforce mark on his left hand, but the three pieces of the Triforce rest in the catacombs of Hyrule Castle, and Ganon is still dead. The Gerudo witches, Twinrova, are trying to revive him from his ashes by using Holodrum and Labrynna as the source of the flames of Sorrow, Destruction and Despair, and sacrificing Princess Zelda.
NOTE: The witches could still be alive since this is the timeline in which the Hero of Time’s adventure never took place, thus he never killed them. Also note that when they died, they complained about being “only 380-400 years old”. They say this as if they were young! Just don’t bother questioning it.

O_o Wow. You sure do put a lot of work into this. I can't think of anything to argue with this, but I'm sure one of my friends can. *pulls in Master of ALttP*

Looks like you have done your homework MDK, and you do make sense. I can't argue, but yet again, I can never be sure.

A very good theory, but I am sorry to differ.

Although I loath the idea of a split timeline I am very impressed with your work here. But however I have multiple theriories (threads) that relate to bits and parts of the timeline I will provide as links below that will form my simgle timeline theory.

So your first timeline theory is based off the adult timeline theory that ges like this:

OoT(adult), WW, TMC, FS, FSA

and then....

OoT(child), MM, ALttP, LA, LoZ, AoL, OoS/OoA

First off lets look at TMC, FS, FSA triology. TMC being the base of the FS legends has to major facts depicted and provided in the game that support its place ment after the Oracle Legends. One being that the oracles from OoS/OoA appear in Hyrule as they were planned and are seen in TMC. Two being that the White Sword was first created after the reforgement of the Piccori Blade. The White Sword also appears in the LoZ. Read my theory here titled the "Legendary White Sword"

The Legendary White Sword

After much dicussion many people excepted that the LoZ and AoL came after the FS legends. Please read it. Also consider reading my theory titled "Mysterious Beginings and Endings" here: Interesting Discoveries: Mysterious Beginings & Endings This theory observes many hard core facts from the games depicted and stated. Thus my timeline would go like this if it were a split timeline:

OoT(Adult), WW.......................

OoT(Child), MM, ALttP, LA, OoS/OoA, TMC, FS, FSA, LoZ, & AoL

Now this will probably make you fustrated and believe me I know you worked hard on this and I hate it when people try to contradict my stuff to but consider this theory that will Link WW into the OoT(child) Timeline. Before you read this keep in mind that in WW the King of Red Lions stated something about the Hero of Time traveling on a personal journey after he saved Hyrule. WW makes refference of MM when Link left Hyrule, therefor WW co exists in what you have in the OoT(child) timeline. Here is my theory:
You could speculate on how the physics worked out for things to happen but you miss the hard-core facts in between LoZ’s that provide evidence of how a single timeline works. Here is a theory that can sum up how OoT future and past timelines can exist but only the OoT past alteration in time will produce following LoZ only.

In OoT Link would have to have followed through with the original past to future events of OoT. Then he would come back to the past. And Ganondorf is in the Sacred Realm still when he comes back because he has the triforce of courage, which means Ganondorf, has touched the Triforce and the pieces have been instilled into those chosen by destiney. But AHA! Now that the Master Sword is in place, the final key to opening the Sacred Realm, the Master Sword, has locked Ganondorf in the gate to the Sacred Realm. Thus the future of Ganon's seven-year reign does not happen. And the future events cease to exist in this timeline. Now he is known as the Hero of Time as a child stated in the MM and WW prologues. Link would then go into the MM legend.

The Triforce breaks into eight shards, but say that does not happen yet. The Triforce of Courage would have only broken by means of someone doing it personally. I know that it is speculation but what the King of Red Lions said may not be exactly literal about it immediately being broken right away because the pieces were however charted in there location, so originally someone hid them by the island after the Great Flood. “Make sence?” Now Link goes into Termina and no one knows what happens to him from there on after MM. Now say seven years pass and Ganondorf of course is locked away in the Sacred Realm. The Sages, much like the Hero of Time, are destined to become sages and be recorded in time. Keep in mind now that the sages can here the awakening call of the sages through the temples in Hyrule because the temples are not corrupted by evil, caused by Ganondorf during his seven year rule in Hyrule in the future that has been erased in this timeline. They do not need Link to help them hear that call and be awakened.

Now the ALttP prologue folds into play! Since Ganondorf has been sealed in the Sacred Realm for seven years, corrupting the Sacred Realm instead of Hyrule, the seal weakens as great evil flows from it because the seal provided by the sages has not been done yet. And the seal set by just the Master Sword cannot hold the seal on Ganon alone just as we see it doesn't in WW. Rauru initiates the awakening call for the destined sages and the King orders them to seal the doorway to the Sacred/Evil realm by means of supporting the Master Swords sole lock on the gate. (Keep in mind that the King would still be in control of Hyrule and that is why the ALttP prologue mentions a King doing this.) But it is too late. Ganondorf breaks free from the Sacred Realm and the Imprisoning War happens. In the mist of the battle at Hyrule Castle the seven Sages/Wiseman initiate the seal on him and Ganon is sent back in the Evil Realm. Many years pass and he is forgotten. Thus the ALttP prologue makes since of OoT and the sages still are recorded come up to WW.

After you've read this you may now see how the events of the ALttP prologue takes place after the child ending whereas some people believe it to take place after the other. But remember that the Triforce of Courage is said to be broken into eight shards some time after OoT(past) during these new seven years of peace. But yet when ALttP happens Ganon, in the Evil Realm, now has acquired the whole Triforce over time. So this would mean that in TP some how Ganondorf would acquire the entire Triforce in his possession within the Evil Realm/Twilight Realm, by some how collecting the lost pieces. And that means that the Triforce of Courage would have to be split up at another time after the events of OoT, MM and ALttP. Or the fragments are collected in TP by Link and then some time after AlttP in another LoZ the fragments are split into eight pieces and are hidden.

Of course you will say the adult ending still exist but based on my new theory ALttP can't happen after OoT(future). But because the Triforce of Courage is not split any time in the future and the seal of sages has been initiated without a great battle at Hyrule Castle(AlttP prologue) as it will happen in the OoT past now, then ALttP can't really happen in the OoT future ending based on the prologue. Thus any timeline that has ALttP in their split timeline is incorect and thus any other LoZ that some of you may connect to the ALttp legend can not happen in that other split timeline you have. You can believe that the OoT future ending timeline can still split off into another dimensional timeline but it will not spawn off following LoZ that exist as of now. So the Imprisoning War does not happen in the future but in the altered past.

After thoroughly thinking this through I stand my grounds with the theory that eliminates the future ending of OoT. And goes like this:

OoT, MM, TP, ALttP____________________________WW.

The legends can co exist on the same timeline.

Also keep in mind that WW only makes references of the OoT altered past events. The sages recorded in Hyrule Castle still become sages relentless if they are after the OoT past events or OoT future events. If they didn't become sages in the future of the altered past of OoT then the ALttP prologue would not make since nor would the WW references of these facts make since.

How is it then that Zelda gives the Ocarina of time back to Link at the start of MM? If Zelda has already thrown it in the river and Link was sent back in time without it, there should be no Ocarina of time at the start of the second time line...

That's an interesting point - one of the few intelligent questions people have asked me about this. Thanks, I'll look into that.

LOZ Historian, looks like you've done your homework too. I need more time to read your stuff. I'll get back to you on it.

Remember that you gave the Ocarina of Time to Zelda in the future. You never gave it away in the past when you received it and then pulled the Master Sword. Link returned back in time at the point he had the ocarina of time and Ganondorf had entered the Sacred Realm after Link. Link still has the ocarina in this way. If he had returned at any other point beforehand Gaondorf would still be roming around Hyrule and there would be caous and Link would never have truely earned the title as the Hero of Time in his past as a child, like spoken of in the WW prologue.

I'm only pointing this out because you've made this mistake multiple times... I think you mean reguardless, not relentless, which means to be severely or violenty persistant. I'm sorry, just thought I ought to point that out.

Anyway, back on topic. If you remember in TWW, Tetra's ToW was passed down through generations, and was never joined with the whole triforce between OOT and TWW. ALTTP cannot be between them.

A thing about th FS series, I get what you (MDK), are saying about TMC being in a different land, but if you look, FSA is almost undoubtedly in ALTTP's hyrule, and FS is on an island off the west coast, obviously near FSA/ALTTP Hyrule. But the FS shrine is in TMC's hyrule, while in FS, it's in that hyrule......Very confusing.

That is an interesting counter here, yet I do not believe the Triforce of Courage nor the Triforce of Wisdom was immediatly split after the OoT events. One thing being the Triforce of Courage was hidden by the island in WW. So someone must of hid the pieces secretly after the Great Flood. It would make technical sence here. Now as for the Triforce of Wisdom I would think the same way but there is no technical evidence to support this here. I can only assume. "sorry that won't do here". But on my own personal feeling about TP coming up I feel the Triforce will play a key role and make an appearance in some way or fasion. But THAT is my personal feeling. I just can't see an epic Zelda game like this not involve the Triforce and or info on its whereabouts.

Ah but in FSA you have to enter a portal to get to the FS Shrine. That portal could take you to that original shrine. Nothing weird here to me. I don't consider FS to be that big of a LoZ. It just obviously comes in between TMC and FSA.

Wait! did you just say there were two Hyrules?????? One in FS and the one in TMC and FSA?????? I never remember such info. My memeory is foggy on this. Could you provide some references that back this up? I trust what you are stating here but I would like to observe this info. It sounds interesting.

Re: MDK's Split Timeline Theory (ver. 2)

I agree with you that TMC is the new Hyrule founded by Link and Tetra. Right own believe it or not I recently posted thread on that theory.
My theory
Come check it out sometime even though it's closed.

But at the moment that Ganondorf entered the sacred realm, Link had already been put to sleep inside the chamber of sages for seven years. So if he'd been sent back to THAT point then there wouldn't be a body for Link to appear into (in the temple of time) that still had the ocarina. Which raises the question, did Link get sent back to the moment before he pulled the sword, and therefore, is Ganon still wandering free at the end of Ocarina of Time?

Another option I can see is that perhaps replacing the sword in the pedestal is symbolic of being "unchosen" to be the hero of time so when he's sent back to the point just after Ganondorf enters the SR, and since he's no longer destined to be the hero, he's released from the chamber of sages.

I think someone really needs to come up with a theory of how time travel works in these games. We only have very little reliable evidence to go on about it.

Well, the land in TMC is called Hyrule but it is a different place, it doesn't have death mountain or the lost woods, instead it has the minish woods and Mt. Crenal, and some other places that aren't in the traditional Hyrule. FSA's land is called Hyrule and is almost identical to the land in ALTTP, other than frozen Hyrule, which was just frozen by Vaati, and it melts when he's dead. FSA's hyrule features death mountain, the lost woods etc., making it take place in the normal hyrule region. FS's land, if you look at it on the level select screen, is west of a river. The levels include, Talus Cave, the sea of trees, and death mountain. ALTTP/FSA's hyrule is probably east of the river close by, and the death mountain in FS is probably just a different side of the mountain.

Now that yo mention it, they DID go through portals to get to the FS shrine, that could explain it. My theory though is that TMC's hyrule is ancient Hyrule. Over time the Minish woods became the lost woods and the minish vanished, and something terrible happened at Mt. Crenal (my guess is Volvagia's first reign of terror that was ended by the goron hero) caused its name to be changed to Death mountain. I think after FS they sealed the entire shrine, so it could only be reached by portal in FSA.
