Is there really a timeline besides the 3d games? [spoilers]

Basicly I just think that there isn't a timeline going on besides in the 3d games, Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker. For example, in the begining of Links Awakening he is on a boat, but that doesn't immediatly mean that that Link is the same one from Wind Waker.

Also there may seem like an order in which all these games go but the connections aren't really there. Sometimes theorists just make random stuff up. I think that each and every 2d Zelda game is just a seperate adventure on its own. What does everyone else think?

^ Err. No. Nintendo has even confirmed the fact that the Link from Twilight Princess is a "different" Link than the Hero of Time(N64 Zeldas). As for the 2D Zeldas being different adventures, I think it is confirmed that the Link of the first game returns in the Adventure of Link but I'm not sure. Design wise, I think Link from a Link to the Past is nearly indentical to the one in Link's Awakening, but it's been a while since I checked those sprites as well.

But my thoughts on it? I don't really bother so much. The details left in some games, particulairly the ones without any real link to the Hero of Time(whose story was the one that actually opened up the timeline, at least on Nintendo's part) are just so vauge and undefined in regards to obtaining a certain history that at least, I don't really help in piecing together any chronology in particular. The only thing that has been proven is that the Hero of Time is the first in the timeline. Twilight Princess would be sandwiched between that episode of Zelda and Wind Waker. The rest? No idea, but I consider Aol and Loz Link the same person and the same case for LA and Alltp. I'm not sure that I can support those theories, but long ago, I did recall some sources that told me that they were. And they had reasonasble proof that slips my right now. Eh. But the portable Zeldas, I haven't even bothered to touch. I kind of feel those installements are kind of out of touch with the seires nayways.

I HIGHLY doubt La link is the same one from WW.

No, there is infact a timeline that coincides with the 2D zelda's

but first, it is important to know that in the 2D zelda there are two different "sagas" of sorts, The Triforce Saga, and the Four Sword Saga.

The four sword saga goes as follows:

TMC, FS, FSA

The Triforce saga goes somthing like this:

Alttp, LA, OoS/OoA, LoZ, AoL.

There will be no way of knowing if there's a definate timeline until Nintendo release one. That's if they release one. Timelines are just fun things to play around with, and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Here a conspiracy nut idea about it all.

Nintendo doesn't have a timeline yet, they're letting the fans make it for them, they keep eyes on all zelda message board around the world and devote a certain dept of their company to figuring out the timeline based on posts by members of the boards.

Shhh, be carefull Miyamoto and Aonuma are watching us all.

Scoria, that timeline is exactly what I think! Nintendo didn't think the series was very important till AlltP was out, so that's when they even started caring about the timeline, thus: OOT, MM, TP, WW
