Why doesn't Link's hat fall off?
How many times has this been brought up? I haven't been here in a while.
Anyway, Link can do back flips and glide with his Deku leaf and his hat never falls off. He walks through strong winds with his iron boots on and the hat's still on! He swims and dives and the hat never leaves his head. He even sleeps with it on. What's up with that?

Re: Why doesn't Link's hat fall off?
Hey! firstable, Happy new year.
Second, I'm going to disclose a TOP SECRET at Nintendo *SPOILER* Link super glue his hat before he begins any journey. Come on, it's just a videogame, maybe Shigeru either Eiji have never think about such realism. Imagine they make the hat fall and everytime it does you have to pick it up, you'll spend more time picking up the hat than playing the game itself. I would even make a new game out of that, "who pick-up the hat faster". |

Re: Why doesn't Link's hat fall off?
Realistic Answer: It's just a game, it doesn't have to make sense.
Answer for the fun of it: -Maybe Link's head has grown into his cap too much, that it's too big for it and now is stuck. -There is some string on the rim of the cap that has Link able to tighten or loosen it. -Many Minish are holding the cap down. There can be endless "useless" answers, but it all comes to one logical one: It's just a game. -BGS

Re: Why doesn't Link's hat fall off?
I know it's just a game, I just thought it was funny how the hat never comes off his head. I was looking for silly answers to make me laugh. I like the Minish holding it down. That's funny.

Re: Why doesn't Link's hat fall off?
Link's had doen't fall off for the same reason why most cowboy's hats stay on... THE HAT FITS PERFECTLY.

Re: Why doesn't Link's hat fall off?
Sounds like a quirky idea for TP to me, get hit hard enough by an enemy? Your hat is thrown off.
As for an answer to why it stays on, I have a perfectly reasonable explanation. You see there are these special magic protons in Links hat, they are directly interconnected to the atoms of material that makes the hat up. These protons are felgumerigiesieshes. Now stay with me. The felgumerigiesieshes use magical properties called calinogemershy which allows the user to connect the felgumerigiesieshes permantly to an object, or as long as the user wants. Now the most logical theory using the above said things is that Link just used the felgumerigiesieshes and connect them to his hair. Simple explanation huh? ![]()

Quote:
I always figured he found a nice hatter (or whatever you call someone who makes hats) in the Kokiri Village, most likely one of the other Kokiris or a Deku Scrub in the Lost Woods. He used that resource to get an excellently fitted hat, kinda like Indian Jones' hat. |

Re: Why doesn't Link's hat fall off?
Do you really think he'd be as intimidating as he is if he could lose his hat, imagine it; Ganon takes a swipe at Link, Link jump back out of the way and pulls the master sword, the camera leans in close showing the defiance on Link's face and his determination to win, no if it was realistic his hat would fly off when he jumped back, Ganon would laugh at his 'hat hair' Link would scurry around to get his hat and put it back on and the scene wouldn't be anywhere near as cool.
His hat stays on because it's part of Link's 'Cool Factor' And as we all know the 'Cool Factor' is everything to a game hero, do you remember how frizzled Mega Man's hair has been everytime we see him without his helmet? Same thing.

Re: Why doesn't Link's hat fall off?
It's as easy as an itty bit of superglue. Can't beleive nobody's brought up that solution yet. This is kind of getting spammy though. But my serious answer is that Zelda's realisim factor should be taken into account. Or its just magically infused into his head? That's Zelda for you. You could say the same for Mario, couldn't you? Oh well, he did have the opportunity to lose his hat in that one level for Super Mario 64.

Re: Why doesn't Link's hat fall off?
It stays on because if it fell off it would ruin the whole story line. Ok, not really. Perhaps Hylian hair causes a very high amount of static.
