In the WW prologue it tells of the tale of The Hero of Time and how it was told over and over again throughout Hyrules history until it became legend. It also said something about how it became customary to garb boys in green attire that the elders found these boys to be the age of the hero spoken of in the legend. Of course that was so in the case of WW on Outset Island, but what if that custom carried throughout all the legends of Zelda. What I am saying is if in every LoZ we see Link is garbed in the same traditional green outfit some where along the line he followed the tradition in honor of the Hero of Time’s chivalry when he was told he was the age if the hero. This would explain why Link is always seen in his traditional attire every Zelda game.
Another thing that could prove that the legend of the Hero of Time was known by the people throughout the rest of the following LoZ’s after OoT is the fact that in the AoL all the towns are named after the original Sages that go in co ordinance with the legend. So even then Hyrule remembers the tale of OoT somewhat. Another thing that makes you wonder is if all of this were true then the other destined Link heroes that appeared during a time when Hyrule was covered/threatened by darkness, would be considered the Hero of Time reborn. Kind of like Ganondorf inferred about Link in WW but not actually means he was a literal descendant. Much goes for the other Hylian heroes that weren’t necessarily descendants either. Its kind of fun to think about how the people could have thought this after every hero left his mark in history at there time of dire, that it was the spirit of the Hero of Time that saved them. |

Re: The Hero's Coincidental Attire
tWW is the only game to feature the coming of age ceremony, games like tWW, loZ, and AoL (like you have stated), probably do pay homage to the hero of time, but the other zelda titles, make no mention of a ceremony that involved green clothes. Also, keep in mind that the age of link changes from game to game, and there is usually a set age in such age related rituals, so for a game like Alttp, it would make sense for link to have different clothing, and have some other hyrulian with the green ritual cloths.
