Little known things in Zelda games

Ever notice, or discover little things in Zelda games that are cool, but obscure? Things that you don't think anyone else would notice? Here are a few of mine:

1. In Wind Waker, if you go up to the top of a high island and other islands are in sight (a good example of this is the area above where Medli plays her harp on Dragon Roost) you will see that the positioning of islands is wrong. For example, Windfall island appears closer than Paw Print Isle.

2. If you return to the forsaken fortress when it is abandoned, you can reach the area where you recover your sword by using the deku leaf to float down and grab onto the ladder on the eastern side of the fortress (takes a bit of practice.)

3. Also in tWW, at the top of the tower of the gods, if you swing off the bell and float down to one of the circular windows you can see an island down below. You can reach this island by doing the glitch described in this thread.

Post your little known gems of knowledge!

PS: Yes I know all my tidbits were all game glitches, but don't feel restricted to post only glitches and the like, little known bits of info will also be appreciated!

Windfall does not appear closer. It might seem like it does, but it's just cause Windfall is bigger.

I think I heard that the Chu Jelly guy will sometimes be on Pawprint. How he gets there, I don't know.

Re: Little known things in Zelda games

In OoT:
1. If you go to Hyrule Castle Garden and look in the window to the right, you should see some pictures of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, and Bowser.
2. If instead you look in the left window, you will see a potted plant. If you hit this plant with your Slingshot, a guard will peek around the side of the window and yell "Hey, you! Don't cause any trouble!" and throw a bomb at you. If you do this again, it won't work.

lol I think thats very very common knowledge =P
Lets face it...Most of the Zelda games we have and are talking about are old(Besides Minish Cap). Everyone has already done all those sorta things (well atleast I have).

We need todo these sorts of things with TP

Minish Cap- Dash into a dresser with the pegasus boots, and the doors will pop open, and sometimes there will be rupees and shells inside them.

Re: Little known things in Zelda games

Ok here's another just to keep the ball rollling.

On top of the Islet of Steel, there are bobokins with swords, but you can't fight them. The worst you can do to them is use a Hyoi pear, fly up and make them jump off the edge and die when they try and leap at you.

Re: Little known things in Zelda games

In Kakariko Village in a Link to the Past, a lot of the houses have portraits of Mario hanging on the walls. In one of the houses, if you pull on the portrait, a bunch of rupees will come out. 60, I think.

No, 20, unless you have a different version than I...

In the light world in ALttP, in Kakariko village there's a house with no door (in the bottom left-hand corner). If you stand in front of hit and poke it with your sword or hit it with your boomerang, it doesn't make a noise like if there was a bombable surface. However, if you lay a bomb, it will blow a hole in the wall and you can enter the hut, where there are rupees, bombs, hearts, and arrows.

That's probably right. I couldn't remember whether it was three red rupees it gave you, or four blue ones.

This one's relatively well known, but I've always thought it was awesome:
In Link's Awakening, you can steal items from the shop in Mabe Village. The shopkeeper always turns so that he has you in his eyesight... but if you hold the item you want and run around him in circles, he can't quite keep up. If you can manage to get to the door while he's looking in another direction, you can steal the item.

It has the downside of permanently changing you name from whatever you chose (usually "Link", for me) to "THIEF."

Re: Little known things in Zelda games

Speaking of Kakariko Village (ALLTP)... Inside one of the houses, when you lift up a jar, you'll find a chicken underneath. If you sprinkle magic powder on it, it turns into a girl. You don't really get anything, but it's kinda interesting to see.

In Majora's Mask, you can find a paper airplane resting atop one of the pillars outside of Ikana Castle. You have to float as a Deku to get to it.

The scarecrow in The Ocarina of Time won't let you teach him Ocarina songs that have the same notes as other Ocarina songs. Try playing "The Bolero of Fire" for him.

...If I can think of anymore random stuff, I'll be sure to add them.

Something odd about that house. When I was a kid, I had the SNES version. I tried everything to get inside that house. I even dragged a super bomb all the way over to it to try blowing down the door. Once I realized I couldn't open it, I knew that someday I would. Turns out, I can now.

I knew that one. The downside sucked. Having Marin calling you "THIEF" at the most tender of moments really downsizes the drama. Had I known that would happen, I would not have stolen anything.

I suppose I'll contribute to this thread, but it is hard to post something little-known when you don't know how many other people know it. So... In OoA, put a mystery seed on those Chu Chu looking things that shock you. Freeze them with a boomerang, and go up to them and press A to talk. The transformed monsters will say random things. This might also work in OoA. I think something will also happen when you put mystery seeds on Cuccos.

Re: Little known things in Zelda games

I always wonder about this..
When you do the Goron sword trade in OOT. And you are about to run to biggoron from lake Hylia. If you take the time to speak to the profesor once more (or twice), He will say something like this: When you come back, bring me a suvinir....

And the most of us know the claim check is an suvinir. So I have tried to give that old man that item 10000 times. I don't understand the point why Nintendo made him say this, it make me wonder if the trade goes even further....
If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, then try do the trade, and talk once or twice with the profesor, (yes, when the time is counting down), then you see what I mean...

Re: Little known things in Zelda games

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Maybe, in an earlier version of the game, they had the trading sequence go even further, but then they decided not to. Then, just because the programmers were feeling lazy, they decided not to remove that line of text from the game. QUIT BEING LAZY, NINTENDO!

I've experienced that effect firsthand. My brothers and decided to jazz up thier bath one day by playing Gameboy in the tub. The Gameboy surivived (for the first attempt), Link's Awakining didn't. I tred to play it but wierd things would happen, I couldn't do anything.

Another maybe little known thing (haven't seen it anywhere else): In OoS, after you defeat the Great Moblin and destroy his castle, he will move to a house in Sunken City. Use an ember seed or a bomb to ignite the big pile of bombs in the southwest corner of the house, and get out of the house quick. The house will blow up, and the moblins will run away. Come back later and you will see the house shoddily rebuilt, with the moblins moved back in. Try to do it again, and the Moblins will trap you in the house when it explodes, giving you a game over. This may only work in a OoA-OoS link game.

Re: Little known things in Zelda games

My mates told be about that one. Apparently, they clobber you if you try and use your sword in there, but I've not tried it.

In MM, the little cow models in various buildings in Clock Town nod their heads during the frequent earthquakes like those nodding dogs people have on the dashboard of their car
There's an Iron Knuckle behind the counter of the Curiosity Shop.
There's another Iron Knuckle in Twinmold's Trial on the Moon, and you can freeze it by playing the Sun's Song
