Deaths in Zelda games
What would you consider as a 'death' in a Zelda game? Obviously, when you lose all your hearts and get a Game Over. That's the only thing that increments the death counter in the game, but what about other things? Such as losing all your hearts and being resurrected by a fairy? Or falling into lava or into a bottomless pit?

Re: Deaths in Zelda games
They could be considered deaths, but I don't think so because it's too easy to fall off a cliff sometimes if you get carried away running. Because think about it. In OoT or WW, if you're tired of running so you start rolling up a cliff (Death Mountain Trail, or Outset Island) and you roll off, noone could survive that, but you roll, and you're fine, it's too hard to define death. But faerie deaths, do not count as deaths to me, becuase it's almost like him finding his extra energy, or second wind to go on to save Zelda. I don't know.

Re: Deaths in Zelda games
I think a Death can only be a Game Over first time on OOT i got 003 only 3 proper deaths it was to easy to fall of a cliff in OOT and a lot more easy in MM i havnt dies properly in MM yet but ive fell off cliffs alot more then OOT so you cant count them as deaths.
The only way to die is in Battle in myopinion.

Re: Deaths in Zelda games
Point taken well.
Battle deaths are the only real deaths. But come to think of it, you could die of exhaustion in the dessert or in the middle of the field. I dunno. Battle deaths still works out best.

Re: Deaths in Zelda games
I died a significant amount of times in Ocarina of Time, maybe a few in Majora's Mask, and I NEVER DIED A SINGLE TIME in Wind Waker.

Re: Deaths in Zelda games
Well, when I play, I like to treat falling into pits as death. Otherwise it makes it a bit too easy. So when I fall, I reset. Call me an old fasioned gamer but games give too many second chances these days, almost like developers are scared of frustrating people to a point where they stop playing. I agree with that to a point, but then again, frustration is an important ingredient. It makes the victory of overcoming a challenge all the sweeter.

Re: Deaths in Zelda games
I consider just dieing in battle dieing. well, running out of faeries then dieing, I don't count faerie deaths as deaths. I don't really fall off cliffs...ever, I don't know what happens when you fall off a cliff so I don't know to consider that as a death or not...

Re: Deaths in Zelda games
There are only two things I consider deaths.
1. In any game that's not AoL, running out of hearts (fairy or not, I don't give) 2. In AoL, falling in water/lava/bottomless pit, or running out of health Falling off a cliff in any non-AoL game is not death in my opinion, assuming you have at least 1/4 heart left when you are back on solid ground.
