Why do all Links/Zeldas look exactly the same?
There are about 5 Links and I think 6 Zeldas, which include Twilight Princess. All of these 5 Links were blonde haired or light-brown haired and wore green tunics. All Zeldas had long blonde hair and wore pink dresses. I've never seen a fat Link or a brown-haired Zelda. Discuss.

Re: Why do all Links/Zeldas look exactly the same?
There had been a red headed Zelda before, in the older games (the official art showed this, I think). And also, Link wasn't always blonde and blue eyed... you just have to do a search on all the older zelda games.
And Tp... Zelda's dress is more of a purple, if you will. Also, her dress in alttp was blue. *shrug* I guess the designers were just testing around to see what they liked best, maybe they are getting close to what they want. And also, if you were to completely change the look of Link and Zelda... well, it wouldn't really be Link and Zelda anymore, would it?

Re: Why do all Links/Zeldas look exactly the same?
AoL Link and LOZ Link had brown hair
![]() I think that ever since OOT, because of the effects the triforce had on Zelda and Link, after they died, they were re-incarnated, again and again, into the Link and Zelda of ALTTP, WW, etc. In Wind Waker, Ganondorf says that they share the purpose of re-uniting the triforce pieces, so Link and Zelda would have to re-incarnate, in order to retain the triforce, and one day, piece it back together. Re-incarnation explain also, why all Link's are dubbed the 'Hero', and the Zelds, the 'Princess Of Destiny' and why the future incarnations are always in possesion of the triforce pieces. Additionally, re-incarnation owuld also explain why the King of Red Lions tells Jabun that this Hero (WW) has no relation to the original, yet how the Deku Tree mistakes Link for OOT Link. |

Re: Why do all Links/Zeldas look exactly the same?
Links and Zeldas do look different, not a lot, but enough for variety. The reason is simple: the Zelda series has icons, Link, Zelda, and Ganon. If they are changed then the series becomes harder to identify and some of the feel is lost. People like adventuring as Link, do you suppose they'd like it more if Link started wearing bright Pink, had black hair, and was 9 ft. Tall? As such I see no reason to attribute new powers to the Triforce. It grants wishes, and it's three pieces dwell within those who best match their characteristics. It does nothing else. Unless Link wished for he and Zelda to be reincarnated when he got the full Triforce in aLttP he and she won't be reincarnated.
It's kinda like Mario, everyone can identify him. But, if he changed his look drastically every game then people wouldn't be able to.

Re: Why do all Links/Zeldas look exactly the same?
You need to keep the same Zelda/Link feel to it. It wouldnt feel right with diffrent characters or big changes to the clothes.
I was checking peoples profiles just being nosey but I found out that Cylcossus your were born one day before me on the exact same year..... |

Re: Why do all Links/Zeldas look exactly the same?
They're not all exactly the same!
Zelda began as a red-head in a pink dress. (And in ALttP she was blonde with a blue dress) In the Minish Cap her hair is a really pale yellow-green. Also, Link started out with auburn (dark red) hair. (Link has always worn a green tunic though.) But who cares if all the Zeldas and Links look similar? They say variety is the spice of life. And when you have too much spice, life tastes really REALLY bad! ^.^;;;

I beleive it is because of tradition... all the marios from the super mario series look alike... in fact, all the nintendo character, like donkey kong... etc.

Re: Why do all Links/Zeldas look exactly the same?
They most definitely look similar, which is something different from exactly the same. I didn't notice that so I shouldn't be talking. It's definitely interesting though.

Re: Why do all Links/Zeldas look exactly the same?
Has there ever been a Link with red hair? In LoZ and AoL, he has brown hair, and in OoT, he has blonde hair, and in MM, i don't know why, but i keep thinking it's a shade of red.
I'm just wondering though...

Re: Why do all Links/Zeldas look exactly the same?
it's this simple: every villain requires two things - a hero and a victim
Ganon is the villain, and is the same person throughout the ages, as he is immortal, thanks to the Triforce of Power Zelda is a perfect victim - a princess, beautiful, pure and innocent, somewhat helpless it's easy for Zelda to look the same throughout the series as all the Zeldas are from the same royal family, and so each descendant looks like the last, with certain differences. As for Link, the hero, he is usually a perfectly ordinary boy with immense courage, chosen by destiny Link from OOT wore green clothes due to his Kokirish up-bringing, and his endeavors against Ganondorf became legend, earning himself the title of Hero of Time. Link from WW wore green clothes on that fateful day when he came of age (the same age as the Hero of Time) and because of his endeavours he became known as the Hero of Wind. My only guess is that the other Links (the one from LTTP, LA, and Oracles and the one from LOZ and AOL) idolised this hero of legend and dressed in green in praise. i suspect that many Hylian boys did this - i'd assume that destiny always chooses a courageous boy named Link, and i think it's safe to assume that fate ensures that a courageous boy named Link is always born when it appears that Ganon's seal is weakening, hence the reincarnation theory, which i think is a pretty good one. good stuff, SuperDecimal |
