28 Year Old Zelda Idiot Needs Help from Experts

I was goofing around the web tonight and came across a link to Zelda music.

It instantly brought back memories of playing NES in my basement when I was a kid. Does anyone else remember when Zelda first came out and the first 200 people were supposed to call a number at "Nintendo Power" and describe what Gannon looked like and you'd win a prize.

I digress. I played the Zeldas on NES, the first one that came out on the old green colored Gameboy and then the SNES and then I played the Ocarina of Time on N64.

Now that I don't have to mow 400 lawns just to buy a game system I can afford to be a kid again, that is my goal.

I just jumped on ebay and found that there is a collectors edition disc for 4 Zelda games. Well I just bid on it so now it looks like I have go out and get a game cube.

I would like to replay all the Zelda games from the order that they came out. It looks like this disc will get me started with the first few.

Could anyone tell me what systems I need to buy and what order I need to play them in.

I understand there is now a Gameboy Color, is this different than Gameboy Advance?

Sorry to babble but I'm pretty excited to get out of a stuffy office and back into Hyrule.

What games do I need to get, and what systems will I need to play them. Would an old gameboy game like "Link to the Past" work on a GB Advance? Color?

Thanks for any help you can give me. I have a feeling I'll be on here quite a bit.

I'm up to the task...

The order of the games and the requirements are as follows-
1) Legend of Zelda=found on your collector's disk, need a Gamecube.
2) Adventures of Link=Found on your collector's disk, need the gamecube.
3) A Link to the Past=The Game Boy advance version contains both A Link to the Past AND Four swords, so you're set there...
4) Link's awakening=Need a gameboy, wither an old one or the Advance will do fine.
5) Ocarina of Time=found on your collector's disk, need that gamecube.
6) Majora's Mask=found on your collector's disk, need a gamecube.
7) Oracle of Seasons=need a Gameboy Color or Higher, Gameboy advance will work too.
8) Oracle of Ages=See above.
9) The Four Swords=Can only be played on the GBA version of A Link to the past, and you need a GBA Link cable, plus another GBA with Four Swords in it at least to play- you need at least two player to play Four Swords.
10) The Wind Waker=Needs the gamecube.
11) Four Swords Adventures=needs the Gamecube
12) The Minish Cap=Need a Game Boy Advance

So, in all, all you really need is a gamecube and a Gameboy Advance, the games themselves, and you're set. That help?

This is an easier way to play on all the Zelda games without having to find the original versions and consoles. You could try and pick up the original games, in which case you will need a NES (LoZ, AoL), SNES (ALTTP), GB (LA), GBC (OOA, OOS), GBA (MC, FSA), GC (WW, FSA) and N64 (MM, OOT)

Or you could try this way, which is easier than the other suggestions.

Yer use a gameboy player they're alot easier plus i think you need to use a gameboy advance link cable to the Gamecube for the fourswords adv, unless the game comes with one. Its basically a cable from your gameboy advance that plugs into the controller slot of the GC. Check to c if u got a cable with FSA b4 u get one

Echoing the statements of the previous posters, all the hardware you need is a Cube and a Gameboy Player.

I'm tempted to do the same as you, but I'm starting college in about a month and I probably won't be able to.

O, and to answer your question about the Gameboy Colour (GBC) and Gameboy Advance (GBA), there is difference. The GBC came out before the GBA. Also there is a newer version of the GBA, which is called the GBA SP.

Here are Pictures of each one.

Gameboy Colour.

Gameboy Advance.

Gameboy Advance SP.
